About Port Charlotte

Known for its leisurely pace, beautiful harbor, and ample sunshine, Port Charlotte is a great vacation destination for travelers of all ages. Choose from Port Charlotte condo rentals with harbor views or poolside locations, and get ready to enjoy this tropical oasis.

Climate

Like most communities on Florida’s west coast, Port Charlotte enjoys a humid subtropical climate, which means hot summers and warm winters. Visit during the summer months for temperatures in the 90s and a mix of sun and rain, or visit during the winter months for temperatures in the 70s and relatively low precipitation. The most pleasant time to visit tends to be between March and May, when warm temperatures make for the best beach weather, but you’ll find numerous visitors here every month of the year.

Transit

This Gulf Coast spot couldn’t be easier to find, as it’s just a few miles north of the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Once you land, be sure to rent a car so you can explore the inland and coastal areas beyond the back porch of your Port Charlotte vacation rental.

Things to Do

When you’re ready to hit the beach, you won’t have to go far to enjoy Port Charlotte Beach Park, a fun spot for swimming, fishing, volleyball, bocce, and picnicking. Locals also love Ollie’s Pond Park, a quiet oasis where you can go birding and fishing or walk along the park’s nature trail.

If you’re looking to expand your horizons, visit Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park, a 43,000-acre park that includes over 100 miles of shoreline. Here you can see mangrove forests, pine flatwoods, manatees, dolphins, and more wildlife by kayak or on foot. See even more beautifully undeveloped landscape at Fred C. Babcock-Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area, which includes over 65,000 acres of pine flatwoods and citrus groves. Fish for bluegill, hunt for quail, or take a leisurely horseback ride to soak it all in.

Port Charlotte is also a golfer’s paradise, offering more than 20 scenic, year-round courses, including both executive and championship levels. Lemon Bay Golf Club, an Audubon-certified course with a breathtaking landscape along the Gulf of Mexico is one of the best.
