Description of the Folly Beach vacation condo rental
For better information about rates and availability, see listing # 671221 on the Vacation Rental By Owner site.

Enjoy the river all day at RiverWatch! See beautiful water birds, dolphins, kayakers, paddle boarders, fishing boats heading out for a catch and, of course the sailboats. Old man river keeps flowing in twice a day and back out again.

This is our home and our principal residence, which we purchased in 2014. We leave in the summer to be with our children and grandchildren. Although we will not be here when you visit, we have an on-site manager, should the need arise during your stay.

You will find that RiverWatch is fully equipped and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. There are 2 bedrooms and 3 full baths, all on one level. The master suite has a king bed, large flat-screen TV, VCR, and patio doors leading to the screened porch - perfect for watching the dolphins with your morning coffee, or wine and cheese in the evening. The en suite master bath is newly remodeled.

The other bedroom has new twin beds and its own en suite bath with walk-in shower. The third bath is off the hall and has a shower and tub, for those who like to soak.

You can cook your own meals in a fully equipped kitchen. We love our new French door refrigerator with filtered water and ice at the door. You'll have a Cuisinart coffeemaker as well as a French press and coffee grinder. For grilling, there is a Cuisinart electric "griddler." For your laundry, there is a large washer and dryer, iron and ironing board.

The dining area has a large round table which seats eight. While in the living area you can enjoy a 46 inch TV with surround-sound. There is cable TV and secure internet throughout. Relax in Stressless chairs or recline on the sofa. While seated, you can also view the river and the tidal pool with its accompanying egrets, gulls and snapping shrimp. The living area also provides a great conversation location for visiting with friends.

On the screened porch you can read a book, enjoy a quiet brunch or evening wine and cheese from comfortable chairs. From the adjacent deck you can watch and photograph the birds, dolphins, and our beautiful views including the sunsets.

The pool is a great place for the kids to play or for you to cool off, relax and enjoy the sunshine. It is a small pool, about 4 feet deep - no diving! If you like to fish, our dock provides river fishing and crabbing.

A short walk over the bridge takes you to the blonde sands and funky little town of Folly Beach. The town offers many restaurants and bars, each with its own special character. You are sure to find one or more to fit your taste.

There is also a fishing pier on the beach where tackle can be rented and bait purchased. For those who wish to fish off shore, local charters are available. If you are not lucky while fishing, locally caught fish, shrimp and shellfish are available at Crosby's just a mile north on Folly Road.

Beach swimming areas, with lifeguards, are available near the pier and at the county park near the West end of the island. More beach areas, less crowded but unguarded, can be found all up and down the island. Personal watercraft can be rented near the pier. Surfing and paddle board lessons are available locally for those who are more adventurous.

If you are a history or cuisine buff, historic Charleston with many five star restaurants is only 11 miles away. The city's nineteenth century buildings, particularly homes, offer a unique opportunity for those interested in architecture. Other attractions include the aquarium, plantations, and Fort Sumter.

Heading west for a few miles, you will find America's only tea plantation offering interesting tours of the processing facility as well as a riding tour of the plantation. You will also want to stop and see the Angel Oak. It's age is estimated to be anywhere from 800 to 2000 years old. Nearby is the distillery, also offing tours.

There are many antebellum plantations and homes to tour.

You will not be bored. You are central to a myriad of attractions and activities!

  • About:

We are retired University administrators who came to Folly Beach in 1996. We wanted to be near the water, and looked up and down the whole east coast for the perfect place to call "home." We wanted to be by the water, and we wanted a good airport and good medical facilities. Charleston fit the bill...
