About the area

Villa Bocelli is situated near several hilltop villages in the Tuscan countryside near Forcoli. Forcoli is a very quaint Tuscan village with a few cafés and local shops. For a larger town, Pontedera offers a train station, supermarkets, shops, gas stations, pharmacies, a hospital, post offices, restaurants, cafés, and movie theatres. Close to this Tuscan villa are several cities ideal for daytrips; Pisa, Lucca, Florence (convenient by train from Pontedera), San Gimignano and Volterra. The city of Pisa, famous for its tower, is a convenient city to travel from with an intercity bus service, three train stations and an airport. Many other important cities are reachable from Pisa’s train station including: Rome, Genoa, Turin, Naples, Livorno, Grosseto, Lucca, Pistoia and Florence. Nearby Volterra is also a regional gem, where you can truly capture that "Medieval experience" in full. From the characteristic main piazza to the Roman ruins, Volterra has something from every century all the way back to Etruscan times. Wander along the Etruscan walls, dating from the 4th century BC, or purchase your own alabaster memento in a nearby shop. Visit museums, the exterior of a 15th century fortress, or lounge in the Piazza dei Priori, one of the best town squares in the region-- and the site of many historic and often ****** events. Ideal for a daytrip, Lucca is a place worth enjoying simply for its medieval charm. There are also a number of interesting sights to visit, as well as a great antique market held on the third Sunday of each month. The Duomo di San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Foro are both gorgeous examples of period architecture, while the Casa di Puccini, where the composer was born, has been transformed into a small museum in his honor. You can also climb the 130 foot Torre Guinigi.

Nearby Attractions: In November, guests can share in the experience of the olive harvest which takes place in the olive grove of the villa. From September to February, guests can also take part in pheasant, hare, and wild boar hunting, as well as the cultivation of asparagus and other cold weather vegetables.
Siena: 90 km/56 mi
Viareggio: 72 km/45 mi
Florence (airport): 63 km/39 mi
Versilia: 60 km/37 mi
San Gimignano: 39 km/24 mi
Pisa (airport): 38 km/24 mi
Lucca: 38 km/24 mi
Volterra: 32 km/20 mi
Casciana Terme: 19 km/12 mi
Pontedera: 13 km/8 mi
Train Station (Pontedera - Casciana Terme): 12 km/7.5 mi
Palaia: 6 km/4 mi
Forcoli: 4 km/2.5 mi
