Sageway Farm

August 13, 2014

This farm is beautiful. Although Isolated is only a few minutes away to Historic Downtown Frederick. The house is very spacious but the layout a bit awkward. The only problem we had was with the cleanliness of this property. Most of the showers were cover with mildew and the bathroom carpets were dirt, It was obvious they had not been washed for a while. I removed them. The carpets in the West Wing and Living Room had big stains. The beds were missing either pillows, pillow cases or top sheets. There were two BBQ's on the patio but neither of them worked and they were extremely dirty. There were other minor problems that are not worth mentioning. On the plus side, the owner was very responsive and offered to send the cleaning crew back to the house, and refunded 50% of the cleaning fee. Overall staying at this property was a positive experience. If the house was properly cleaned and some details looked after I would have rated it 4.5 stars.

Great for a family gathering

February 19, 2014

We had family (11 people) from 4 locations meeting in the DC Baltimore area for a birthday weekend. This place worked out great. It was large and spacious - larger on the inside than it looks from outside. The property surrounding it is amazing with an adorable pond. We stayed there right after a large snow storm. It was picturesque but bummed we could not let our toddlers run around more outside. The owner did a good job plowing the driveway for us. Also the owner was easy to contact and responsive to requests, like a crib. There is great space for dining together or gathering for tv watching or playing games. You also felt like you could get away for some alone time in your room. There are 2 large master suites, plus 3 other nice sized bedrooms. The decor is a bit out dated but no big deal. There are limited supplies in the kitchen so be prepared but a nice washer and dryer.

Owner's reply:

Thank you Julie.
Better weather would have enhanced your stay.
We will add on to the kitchen supplies.
Thanks for sharing.

a tale of two families

April 13, 2013

What a wonderful house to combine two new families. The wedding of my daughter brought two families together. One from Maryland and the other from Minnesota. Eventually we all needed to meet and have time to get to know each other. A long weekend at Hudson Manor did just that. Enough bedrooms, bathrooms and open space to allow us all to gather at our leisure. The grounds were muddy from a recent rain...but that didn't stop us from enjoying the outdoor firepit or walks around the house and pier. Osprey were nesting just off the pier...what a site to see...along with both sunrises and sunsets. three decks off the house allowed some personal time for coffee in the morning or just a quiet moment. The sunporch with the wicker furniture was a hang out of everyone...all 17 of us...with room for the baby on the floor. Pool table was used a lot, along with the great dining table for card games. The kitchen had everything you could want and room for 5 cooks in the kitchen at one time. The living room was nice but with such views who wanted TV and it wasn't used much. We had great weather for early April and packed up to go home in 70 + degrees and took a break to sit on the green grass outside the front of the house. Beds were comfy...maybe too many twins...but if you had children (we were all adults with only 2 young kids) they would allow great playrooms and sleeping arrangements. A fantastic place to stay... and we plan to come back again. Maybe another family reunion or just gathering one family under one roof!!
