About the area

Fremont is a village in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, United States. It is surrounded by Town of Fremont. The population was 679 at the 2010 census. Fremont has been referred to as the "White Bass Capital of the World." The Wolf River flows through the middle of the village, with Partridge Lake just upriver. A spawning run of white bass, or sand bass (Morone chrysops), also known as "stripers", occurs twice a year - in May around Mother's Day and in late September to early October. Lake sturgeon from Lake Winnebago travel upriver to the Fremont area in spring to spawn. Another favorite time of the year is the walleye fishing in the spring and fall.

“SERENITY...”

Reviewed 23 May 2017

I hesitated writing this because I didn't want to give away this little piece of heaven, but I felt it my duty to give the owners well deserved kudos!! Everything was perfect - location, amenities, comfort, their kind neighbors, and last but not least, their kindness and duly noted dedication in assuring their renters had everything they could ever want/need while on vacation. Thank you..we hope to be back soon!!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words. We love our cottage that was built by our Grandfather in 1960. He did a fantastic job and took advantage of the views over the water and evening sunsets. We look forward to seeing you again.

“Great Property!”

This was a trip just for myself and my fiance. The cottage was very clean and fully furnished. We had everything we could need along with a beautiful view right on the river. I am definitely planning to plan another visit to the property!

Owner's reply: Thanks Drew, we would love to have you again some time soon.

“Long weekend in Fremont”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2016

We rented this cabin as a test to see if we would be interested in renting it for a summer vacation . We were very pleased with the overall cleanliness and condition of the cabin it has a very home like feeling. It comes with most everything that you would need, from bath and kitchen towels to dishes, bed sheets, pillows, cooking utensils , crock pots, large refrigerator , microwave , tv, outside grill, etc. The boat pier and large river frontage is awesome, I was able to catch fish from the pier witch has a great view of the sunset. The only thing in our eyes that could make it better would be two bathrooms, we usually vacation with guests and a extra bathroom is great for privacy. We would defiantly come back. Jerry was very easy to work with.

“Quiet & Relaxing”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2016

Very quiet and relaxing cottage on the Wolf River, with no road traffic noise to put up with. Enjoyed the spacious front enclosed porch and ate our meals out there so we wouldn't miss anything by the river. The first morning we were joined by a heron who also was having his breakfast! Most supplies are furnished in the cottage, bedding, bath & kitchen, so you don't have to take too much else with you. There were several good restaurants in the town of Fremont, so we didn't have to cook!

“Cozy Cabin”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2016

The clean and cozy cabin sets at the edge of the river. It has a very nice porch and dock area where we spent most of our time. There was plenty of fire wood to utilize the fire ring but we were to busy catching fish and visiting with relatives to build a fire. The neighbors were friendly. Jerry was very accommodating. The cabin met all our needs, thank you Jerry.

“Very relaxing vacation for me, my wife and child!”

We rented from a Sunday thru Friday in July, very smart for quiet! I just had spine injections and needed to lay low. The cottage is very well maintained, the neighbors are kind and supportive of the cottage owner and visitors. This is NOT a "college party" cottage, so, be respectful! We loved the newly remodeled bathroom, especially the shower seating. The A/C works great, the sun room has no vents, so, close the sun room window and door to kitchen for efficiency. Ceiling fans throughout make it very comfortable. The bed mattresses provided the best sleep I've had in years! The dish T.V had a bit of trouble with certain stations, but, there are so many, you can find something good to watch. Also, the local news stations work really well, so it was nice to see weather. They do offer HBO and more. Something not mentioned in the description that should be, is the family of American Bald Eagles that live across the river. We watched from our dock, a Bald Eagle circling around a hawk with a fish no more than 30 ft. right above our heads. The Eagle eventually stole the fish from the hawk! Also, if you have a boat rental, go south 5 minutes (towards Lake Poygan) to be in total wilderness, and you will see Blue Heron, Turkey buzzards, hawks, geese, large snapping turtles on logs, Bald Eagles and many, many more animal and bird species. We caught a turtle with our net on the dock, of course we checked it out and released it. At night, bring a flashlight out to see many, many frogs hopping around the property and deck! Lot's of mosquito's, so, keep that in mind. But, with the river breeze, even the hottest days seemed cool, especially while on the deck and boating. There is a wood stash in a bin near the grill. It was stocked, and, we left it the same way to be kind to the next visitors. For bait and advice, see Chris at the bait shop on HWY. II, just before the bridge (Not Joe's bait) We rented a pontoon from Fremont Watersports rental. It is a tiny shack located near the Bridge restaurant, just ask someone at the Bridge Rest. for locale. The boys running the marina are very kind and helpful! You MUST have lunch at The Bridge restaurant! They have daily lunch specials for 5.00, and, you won't be able to eat your whole meal it's so bountiful! Hand made pizza better than most Chicago pies, trust me, we know! Chicken wings the size of a dinosaur, and excellent drinks. All around, a great vacation, thanks to Jerry the cottage owner! I STRONGLY recommend this cottage!!

Owner's reply: Thank you Dave for your wonderful comments. We strive to make our cottage yours during your stay. We are so happy you and your family had a wonderful stay.

“Cozy cabin on the water”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2016

The renters thought of everything! This cabin was perfect for our little family of three. Kitchen is fully stocked, cabin is very clean and easy to access. The fire pit was like brand new and very nice. The area does have a lot of mosquitos so bring bug spray. We couldn't have been happier and can't wait to come back again.

Owner's reply: My wife and I have really worked hard to provide the perfect cozy cabin experience for our renters. The bathroom was remodeled just within the past couple months, fireplace is new this year, and many other enhancements throughout. We are so happy you found the cabin to be perfect for your family. Hope to see you again soon.
