What a holiday! The villa is everything we hoped for, & the location is perfect; near enough to local shops to be convenient yet quiet and relaxed surroundings. We were even lucky enough to see many of Sri Lanka's native wildlife, water monitor lizards, parrots, eagles, turtles, monkeys, mongeese and many more! Every night we watched the fruit bats, fireflies and frogs reclaim their habitat in the lovely garden's, & every day brought us a new experience. The food was some of the best I have ever experienced, & Jayantha and his team proved themselves as perfect hosts for our stay. We took several excursions with Jayantha as our guide, & his knowledge and enthusiasm made every one an amazing adventure! We felt as though we had been fortunate enough to see real Sri Lanka and stay with real Sri Lankan people. The warmth and welcoming smiles and handshakes from strangers passing by in the town and in the market proved how locals really understand tourism will be so important to Sri Lanka. We felt safe and relaxed at all times, & never treated a's just tourists, more as new friends. We really can't recommend this holiday villa stay highly enough - it truly was perfect for us.

“Beautiful house, amazing place, amazing service.”
A stay at Madampe House offers its guests the perfect balance between a beautiful and private holiday, yet well situated to see the many amazing sights both locally and further afield as well as amazing wildlife from the garden! The house itself is well designed, light and airy. Alistair who designed the house told us that it was designed to take advantage of the sea breezes and whilst I couldn't quite imagine how before I arrived, it certainly does that to great effect, keeping us all cool and comfortable even on the hottest of days. The house was built in 2014 and is well designed and spacious. Photos don't do it justice - you need to be there and live in it to truly appreciate it. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom - and how I fell in love with our inside/outside bathroom in the master bedroom! I had seen this format with other villas when I was researching places in Sri Lanka and wasn't sure how I felt about it - but, wow... it was great! Of course, it is COMPLETELY private, but showering (or bathing in the large tub) felt even more refreshing and relaxing when you could see the trees and hear the wildlife all around you! Pretty cool. All the beds have mosquito nets around them to keep those pesky little blighters at bay. Unfortunately despite 50% DEET products and an array of other medication, the little blighters feasted on me whenever/wherever they could... but this happens to me wherever I go, and the rest of our group did not generally suffer. Special mention needs to be made of Jayantha, Yanusha, Samson and our chef, Roshan. These guys go over and above to ensure your stay is perfect. We've stayed in many villas over the years throughout Europe, and nothing and no-one has compared to the incredible welcome, friendliness, and overall care that this team gives you. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was always amazing - and part of the fun are the visits to Ambalagoda in a tuk tuk to buy the ingredients. Jayantha is the perfect host and not only helped us day to day, but also organised many trips for us - always accompanying us as well and looking after us. We visited the Elephant Sanctuary at Pinnewala, and in Kandy - the Temple of the Sacred Tooth and the Botanical Gardens. Closer to home was Galle Fort, the turtle hatchery, a boat trip around Madampe Lake where we went to a Buddhist temple, visited Cinnamon Island and saw much wildlife; meeting Dudley and seeing his amazing Batik works, and the mask museum at Ambalagoda. Go. You'll lov
