“Secluded beach House in Quite Neighboorhood”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2016

Beautiful beach house on in a very quite neighborhood. It was almost like having a private beach. The home was beautiful and had a great view of the ocean off the back deck. The location is somewhat remote, which is just what we were looking for. Very relaxing. We will be visiting again next year.

Owner's reply: Thank you, Shelly. We'd love to have you come back next year!

A great location to get to the beach, the house was very well kept and had everything we needed. We are getting ready to book again next year

Owner's reply: Just let me know when you are wanting to come again and I will get with the owners. They said they met you and enjoyed their visit with you and your wife.

“Great private getaway....or bring the family”

The house was furnished like a comfortable home - not just a cute beach house.Great deck with ocean view and the extremely clean and private beach was just steps away.

Owner's reply: Thank you, Pam! The owner wants to maintain it as a home and not just another rental. So glad you enjoyed your time there! Have a great holiday season!

“Great House- great location”

After my husband and I just moved to Houston, I knew I wanted to experience the Texas gulf coast since it is so close. I found Pelican's Cay on a site for dog friendly rentals. This place was perfect. The house was the perfect size with all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The king bed was so comfortable and the furniture in the living room was super nice (you just can't go wrong with a leather reclining sofa and chair.) The kitchen had everything you would need to cook every night. I really appreciated the dishwasher. The last beach house rented didn't have one. Great fridge with ice and filtered water too. I have two medium sized dogs and there were plenty of places to hose them off before coming into the house. The house isn't right on the beach but the beach is very close, just a short walk down the road. The beach is fairly clean for the most part (there are plenty of places to place your trash- people can just be lazy) and I enjoyed my daily walk down the miles of quiet beach immensely. There is a partial view of the beach from the back porch and you can enjoy the nice breeze and the sound of the waves as you relax in the afternoons and the evenings for it is wonderfully shaded. The little neighborhood of Treasure Island is very quaint and all the people were nice that I passed on my walks. I noticed on a previous review that there was a complaint about going into Galveston for groceries and the toll charge. My advice is if you want groceries is to go the opposite way from Galveston (I came in on the 332 through Angleton, Clute and Freeport.) You completely avoid the Galveston traffic and the Galveston tollway. I got my groceries at the Kroger in Clute. It is about 20 minutes away and an easy drive. Lawanda is a great manager and very easy to contact with any questions or concerns. Nice gal. We will be back to this spot next year for sure. LOVE LOVE LOVE Pelican's Cay!

“Glenda totally amazed”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2015

The beach house was perfect. It was everything and more than the description in the listing. LaWanda was amazing, she was always close for questions and solutions. Only issue we had was the mosquitos, but that was not the property fault, we will blame that on Topical Storm Bill who came thru days before we arrived. I would recommend this rental to everyone and hope some day to come back.

Owner's reply: Glenda, thank you for the nice words! I know those mosquitos were out to get us all. They did finally slow down on their mission. I am glad that I could help make your visit one you can remembeer with your family. Just let me know when you are ready to come to the sand again! I'd love to have you.

“Wishing for More Time Off”

My family, (wife, married daughter, husband, 6 mo old baby and dog and 2nd daughter w/ boyfriend) all stayed in this home for 4 nights. We did not get on each others nerves once!! The home is very nicely equipped, super comfortable and in nice condition. The outside deck faces the water and is shaded in the afternoon, which was awesome for hanging out after the beach. The home is no more than 100 yds from the beach. The beach was reasonably clean, the water was clean and had a nice sandy bottom. The entire neighborhood is very quiet. While my fishing skills were somewhat lacking, it appeared as if most everyone else's were not. I saw several nice stringers full of Spec's each day we were there. One warning / drawback, this neighborhood is pretty isolated from shopping areas. There is a bait shop across the street that has some essentials, but be prepared for a 20 minute ride for major shopping. We would definitely do it all over again!!!

Owner's reply: John, thank you for such a nice review! I enjoyed having you and Marilyn visit our beach community and Pelican Cay. I am sorry your fishing was off but fishing is a big thing there. I did see lots of fish being taken back to coolers that weekend. You are right about it being a little drive to the stores. My husband thought that was a major reason to buy in Treasure Island.! Have a blessed rest of summer. LaWanda

“Great Retirement Start”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2015

The house was all that we had hope it would be very clean and a quiet neighborhood and just a short drive to Galveston. On the downside is the toll you have to pay to get to Galveston but I am sure there are ways around the toll bridge. All said it was a great place to stay,we are hoping to go back in 2016

Owner's reply: Hi, Mark! We all hate the $2 toll but it is a necessary evil. If you come again for the month, you can buy a booklet which saves a few dollars. Most people only go in a couple of times at most and not so bad. I have a toll tag for Houston and I am glad I don't have to stop and give them anything until the bill comes. I wish they would do that at the Pass. There really isn't a way around it because to do so would cost more in gas I am sure. Thanks for being a great guest. LaWanda

We stayed at Pelican Cay years ago when our children were in school. We decided to return for a mini vacation with our adult children. It was everything that we remembered. Pelican Cay is great for families. It is a quiet neighborhood with miles of beach. They had updated several rooms and everything was very organized. Lawanda was very helpful and made special arrangements for us. She responded to my emails and text in a very timely manner even though she was out of town herself. The house is very family friendly with three nice size bedrooms and a loft area. It seems very roomy for its size. It is just a short walk to the beach. There were only two other families on the beach for as far as the eye could see. Everyone enjoyed chasing crabs in the evening and flying kites during the day on the beach. We made many new memories with our children being adults with our grandchildren. We took family pictures on the beach to compare.I highly recommend Pelican Cay especially for families! Thank you for providing our family the opportunity to make new memories at Pelican Cay!

Owner's reply: Thank you for such a nice review! I am so glad we could work it out for you to be there. Making memories is what it is all about and I am glad your family loved returning to Pelican Cay. Have a great summer! LaWanda
