Beautiful Loft - sleeps 4-5 - 2 blocks to beach
We have a wonderful one bedroom loft available. This is an open and bright apartment; it will easily accommodate a small family of 4-6. The loft has a fully equipped kitchen and a large bathroom. I always have water, coffee, tea and snacks stocked in the kitchen.
The bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, plus the living room has a queen-size futon. There are solid antique oak floors and art deco architectural details. You will sink into the four-poster bed. The mattress is a pillow-top mattress plus there is a 5" featherbed topper. The linens are egypitan cotton. The futon's mattress is 8" thick and very comfortable.
The building was completely renovated three years ago. Hurricane Ike destroyed the first floor, it is under restoration.
The architecture of the East End Historical District reflects a variety of styles and periods, the earliest being examples of Greek Revival style built during the 1850's. Early residents represented an economic and social cross-section of the community, also expressed in the dwellings which range from small, simple cottages to large, elaborate houses.
You are also a few blocks from Stewart Beach. (You can see the Stewart Beach entrace from the front steps of the building) One of Galveston's premier family beach parks, Stewart Beach sponsors family-oriented events, such as volleyball tournaments and sandcastle competitions, throughout the summer season. The park features a children's playground, umbrella and chair rentals and volleyball courts.

Reviews for this vacation apartment rental in Galveston, Texas
Nice & Clean
August 17, 2011
The apartment is kept very nice and clean. The only issue was temperature and traffic noise. The owner has a smooth setup to obtain keys and check-in. All together a nice place to stay in Galveston. Not far off of the Strand and five blocks from the beach. You have to go to Mario's for Italian and listen to patio music.
No response to emails

Two emails were sent indicating our interest to rent at this facility and no response was ever received. Shame, Shame

We stayed a week in the 2-bedroom apartment. It was a little bit of a walk to the beach, but not too bad. The apartment is cute overall -- the kitchen was nice. The furnishings are not very comfortable-- the master bed was hard and lumpy and the sofas seemed like they were left-over from someone's college apartment. No laundry facilities, which is not good when you have sand in everything. There is no privacy for the bedrooms because they have glass doors. This caused a problem for our family of 4, which includes two modest pre-teen girls. We parents had no privacy either. The traffic noise was quite loud, as the bedrooms are right on Broadway Street. Lots of waking up in the middle of the night with loud cars and motorcycles, and one major car accident. From the online photos, it looks nice, but we felt it was overpriced for the location and lack of amenities. Wouldn't rent again.
See the place from outside before you pay
April 6, 2011
We were going to stay there from April 1, 2011-April 3, 2011. We stayed there for 20 minutes before we decided to leave. The place looks abandoned.I felt like a drug addict could come at anytime. We really didn't feel safe at all.The guy who supposedly takes care of the place, Bruce, was nice, but Kathleen was a nightmare to deal with. She was very rude. There is no garage door with a bunch of junk and debris around the property. I feel people should know that. It looks like it should be the set of the next paranormal movie. We never got our money back, at least not yet. I don't think she will. If you don't mind how it looks like from the outside then that is fine. The inside was OK. I feel she needs to post pictures from the outside at least. I should have taken pics with my cell phone. She left the key in some weird electronic box that we couldn't even find. Bruce had to show where it was and even he was having trouble to enter the code and give me the keys just to get in. There are plenty of places to choose from in Galveston. I wouldn't recommend this one.
left as soon as we arrived

We left (myself and three other people) as soon as we arrived. We went to go get a hotel instead since we did not like what we saw.
Very Nice Place!

This loft is a very nice place to stay. Comfy bed, good size kitchen & bath, close to the beach. We really enjoyed our time in Galveston.

I never recieved a response from the owner. A simple no would suffice if the loft was already rented or unavailble for the dates we requested.

The loft was very nice and not to far from the beach. It was a great place to stay and I would tell anyone who is looking to go to galveston and doesnt wanted to spend alot of money on a place to stay to stay there!!!
Rachel Baker , Overland Park, KS My husband, 9 month-old daughter and I stayed in this charming apartment for a week. The hardwoods, frenchdoors & glass-front cabinets in the kitchens were the first things I liked. The location is close to many restaurants, Seawall Blvd, The Strand (downtown district) and the Bishop's Palace. She had fresh sunflowers on the mantle (we are from KS) and organic baby food in the pantry (knowing we were traveling w/ a baby). These subtle touches made us feel at home. We love that its "pet-friendly" because having our boston terrier, Lucy, with us really made our stay enjoyable as well. The price was great for the whole week & I would highly recommend this place to a couple or small family looking for a fun get-away.
