Description from owner

This charming beach side cottage sits on a large lot just 1/2 a block from the beach. Our street actually dead ends at the beach. So it feels very private and great for kids because there is no traffic and no streets to cross to get to the beach. The house has large balconies on two sides which provides lots of outdoor space for sun bathing, star gazing, and ocean views. There is always plenty of shade and a cool breeze on the first level perfect for outdoor barbecues, parties or just relaxing. The adjacent lot is perfect for games and fun in the sun. Upstairs you'll find a spacious country kitchen with plenty room, lots of seating and a view of the water. High ceilings make the rooms feel even larger. Of course the kitchen is equipted with everything you'll need for a great family gathering. The living room is a spacious area with cathedral ceilings, wood plank walls and of course the view. Besides the sofas,in the living area there are 3 twin beds. Two of the beds sit up against the front windows. Open those windows, let the sound of the ocean and the cool breeze in and I guarantee it's the best place in the house to take a nap. Two bedrooms; one is bright with a queen bed and opens on to the the balcony with a view. The back bedroom has a queenl bed and is perfect for a quiet, cozy retreat. You'll love it. It feels like a beach house.

About the area

We are located in beautiful Palm Beach, a cozy little beach side neighborhood on the west end of the island nestled between two of Galveston's most prestigious subdivisions, Pirates Beach and Pirates Beach West. We are only 8.3 miles from 61st street . We are about 10 minutes from Schlitterbahn Park and Moody Gardens. Just across the highway from us about 2 minutes away is Pirates Cove with it's beautiful gulf course, country club, marina, boat launch, bait shop and luxury dining at the famous Waterman's Restuarant. It's upstairs dining is the perfect place for watching the sunset over the marina and the bay. Ten minutes and you are at the Galveston Seawall with shops and dining and treasures galore. And also Galveston's new Pleasure Pier. Five more minutes and you are in Historic Downtown Galveston. When you step on to the Strand you will feel like you stepped back in time. It is the Main Street of the old Galveston era. Blocks of beautiful old buildings filled now with antique shops, art galleries, ice cream parlors and much more. And on the way back don't forget to take a ride down Broadway. There you will find the old historic mansions. Take a tour if you have time. Or explore the adjacent neighborhoods with miles of old homes, some restored, some not, and get the feel of Galveston in days gone by. There is so much to do here you will just have to come back to the island.

“Great Stay at Captain Rogers!”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2015

Great little vacation spot. Totally designed for comfort and relaxation. Lots of room, lots of sunny spots, lots of places to lounge around. Huge kitchen and dining room stocked with all you will need. 5 minute walk to the beach which was clean and great. Rental is in a very quiet residential area. No issues whatsoever. Elaine was great to work with and made everything super easy. Definitely will return! Thanks for everything, Elaine.

Owner's reply: Hi Jimmie, Thank you for taking the time to give us such a nice review. So glad you guys had a good time. We look forward to seeing you again. Elaine

“Had to cancel”

We were looking forward to staying here but due to some circumstances we had to cancel. The owner was 100% cooperative and refunded our $. We saved this location as a favorite and look forward to booking a stay soon!

“Wonderful Retreat”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2015

The house was absolutely lovely with its decor and closeness to the beach. We went during the middle of the week, and the beach was very uncrowded unlike the Seawall beaches. We had plenty of time to go swimming and there are toys and boogie boards to take with you. Bring a wagon to take small children with you along with your stuff to the beach; that's what we did and it was great. It was very quiet and relaxing there. There were 5 adults and 1 child and we had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We used the kitchen to cook dinners and breakfasts and there were plenty of utensils and dishes for all 6 of us. There are also lots of beach chairs for sitting out on the decks. Most helpful I think was the outdoor shower down beside the carport with both hot and cold water and also a water hose for rinsing your shoes and cars off. We had a wonderful time, and we would love to go there again!

Owner's reply: HI Mary, Thanks so much for the wonderful review. I am so glad you guys had a good time. Hope we will see you again.. Elaine

“Quite little getaway!”

Captain Roger's Place is a quiet low key home close to the beach. It's literally like a five-ten minute walk to the beach. It's a peaceful place! Small, but very quaint! I Love it so very much! And will definitely visit again!

“Considerate & Acommodating”

Reviewed 20 May 2015

Elaine was very kind to make arrangements for my son & I to stay here after my husband's sudden & untimely passing. However, it was unfortunate that our plans changed & have not gotten away to stay there yet...but hope to! At which time, look forward to giving the experience a 5 *! Thank you Elaine

“Such a charming place! We can't wait to go back!”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2014

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Captain Rogers Place. It is loaded with French Country eclectic charm that made us feel so welcome. The kitchen has everything you need and there is plenty of room for dining, lounging, and sleeping. The huge wrap around porch with the view and sound of the ocean is where we spent most of our time while not at the beach. Thank you Elaine for making the process of renting from you so easy and strait forward. We can't wait to come back! Jeff and Joey

Owner's reply: Hi Joey and Jeff, Thank you. That is the nicest review. You are so sweet. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are always welcomed back. Thanks again. Elaine

We couldn't have asked for more! The home is very charming with many comfortable beds. The owner was very accomidating and friendly. The beach is very private accessable only through the very family friendly neighborhood. The beach does inot allow moter vehicles but is only steps away from the house. The beach is also well maintained and cleaned of seaweed and debrea often. We are looking forward to our next visit!

“Great Place”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2014

This was a great rental close to the beach. Great for our 3 kids to not feel couped up in a hotel all day and we had 7 people in the house at one point and it didn't feel like we were tripping over each other.

Owner's reply: Hi Jennifer, Thanks for the nice review. We appreciate the business. Glad you'll had a good time. Elaine
