Description from owner

This is a private vacation home on one acre of land and 150ft of private river frontage. Our home is 16 miles from Crescent City in the small, pop 400, town of Gasquet. During the summer we are known as Sunny Gasquet as we rarely get any of the cool coastal fog. Although our property is privately owned we are located in the middle of the Smith River National Recreation Area, there are no houses across the river from us. Only 8 miles to the west is Redwood National and State Parks where some of the tallest trees reside. Twenty miles west is the Pacific Ocean and the southern entrance to the Oregon Coast. Fifty miles north east are the Oregon Caves National Monument.

Beds: 3 Double Beds, 1 Twin Bed

About the owner

My husband and I are retired and love living in Gasquet! In the summer, I can be found in, or near, the river! And, in the winter, I love to read and enjoy our mountain weather.

“Another wonderful visit to BMH lodge”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2014

This was our second visit to this beautiful spot on the Smith River. The home is clean and nicely appointed. The weather was lovely and scenery is breathtaking. The Jedidiah Smith Redwood State Park is near by with activities for the whole family. This property is in Gasquet which is just far enough from the ocean to be in the "sun belt" but close enough to do some beach combing. Lots of berry picking in the area. Wonderful place. Also, Jerry is so easy to work with on your vacation plans I'm sure you'll have a good experience.

Owner's reply: Gail, thank you and family for staying again and for the nice review. Jerry

“Gorgeous location”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2014

That was my first time staying in that area..it is absolutely gorgeous there. The house is perfect. There was plenty of room and I loved the porch right on the river....very peaceful. I enjoyed the cooler weather.

Owner's reply: Even though we are part of Calif. we are so far north when people find us its hard for them to believe how beautiful it is. Most people have never been here from Calif, however, we are part of the National Park system and are the 6th most visited National Park in the US. Also the Smith river is the only major free flowing river in Calif and many say it is the cleanest, purest river in the entire US. Thank you for visiting. Jerry

“Lovely Week on the Smith River”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2013

My husband, our dog and I spent a glorious 5 nights at the BMH Lodge on the Smith River and we are already planning our retirement in that area. The home was super comfortable with an amazing view of the Smith River, a full kitchen, lots of TVs, laundry room, etc. Not fancy, but very very nice.

Owner's reply: Over the last 10 years we have had a few people stay at BMH and then decide to retire in the area.

The house was great. Fully furnished. Had everything you could need. living room was wonderful with its wall of windows. Exactly as pictured. Smith river was great. Beautiful location. Pet friendly. didn't have to pay extra for the dog.

Owner's reply: I must say for a family of 5 they left the house very clean. Thank you very much.

“Beautiful location, very nice house”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2011

My wife and I stayed here for three days. The owners have created a very nice experience, with a large, airy feel in this house that looks over the Smith River. The kitchen is well-appointed and the living area is very comfortable, with flat-screen TV and satellite reception. The bedrooms are cozy and the neighborhood is very quiet. We look forward to returning someday.

“Loved our visit.”

We spent three wonderful days here. The house is far enough to be out of the coastal fog, but near enough to visit. The redwoods are beautiful. Loved the wifi. The deck was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine. In the evening we watched fish jumping in the river.

“Christmas getaway”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2010

We spent a wonderful 6 days over Christmas at this lovely place. Each morning waking to the river right off the deck was incredible. We had our tree and lights in the front window, opened presents in front of the fire, made tamales on Christmas Eve in the kitchen, fished on Christmas day and everything was just the best as it should be on Christmas. We would love to make it a yearly tradition. The area is great to hike, alot to see in the forrests on the way to Crescent City and north to Cave Junction. Thanks!
