Note: over 55 original guest reviews from last year are posted on our other site but we have copied a selection of them here as testimonials for your convenience.
Our video which includes local wild bears playing (taken by our guests), more great views from the deck, and clips from the tram ride and area is online:
Type sarahs bear heaven channel into your browser, then select the one named Sarahs bear heaven Trams and Bears5
Here's our Bears -Stairs- and winter vehicle no surprises advise
1-Stairs -Note picture #3 in our photo section - 3 flights of stairs to access the cabin,
LOL-our own stairway to heaven- but amazing view makes it worth it
2- Bears- there really are some that live wild in the the chalet village wooded mountain areas. They can randomly wander by any of the properties and stop to eat berries , and nuts off the bushes and trees as they get ready for winter hibernation. We had only 3 sightings last fall, but already 12 this Sept- mid Nov as one group of mother and cubs took a liking to our wild plum tree. Simply amazing to see if you are lucky enough to see a cubs aerial act in our plum tree, but never leave any garbage outside the bear proof garbage containers, or food in your car, don't feed them. We have already tragically seen an entire family put down in Nov. when someone left items in their car and left the doors open.
3- 4wd is recommended in the winter. The city of Gatlinburg does a great job clearing and sanding the roads and they are paved all the way. Ski mt road is the main access to the cabin and the Ober Gatlinburg ski resort and they can turn on a light at the bottom signaling 4wd or chains required in the winter if it snows.
Enjoy a view you will never forget.
Area Information

Amazing View

November 7, 2015

Our Honeymoon was Great!! The Chalet was in very good condition with lots of room and with lots of extras in the kitchen area such as extra spices & nice cookware. Bed was Awesome also!!! Both bedrooms have electric fireplaces in them which adds a nice touch. Everything was very clean and neat as shown pics. Nice Decor in complete chalet. Very homey. Also lots of extra bathroom linen so you didn't have to keep washing. The steps that come up to the property is 3 levels. I wouldn't suggest this property for anyone elderly or problems climbing or walking in general. They're pretty steep and lots of them. But at the top you do have an AMAZING VIEW. Prob one of The Best I've ever had from any of my stays in the mountains. We also had a visitor mid afternoon on 1 day we were there. Had left and came bk shortly after noon and there he was :) A HUGE BEAR!!! Just in our yard/driveway....about 5 yards from the front of my car. He was eating berries from a tree in our yard. Kinda freaked us out but was pretty cool all at the same time. He wasn't scared of us at all but didn't act aggressive either. We finAlly got outta of the car and went into the house. We were very cautious every-time we went out after that. The pool sticks were not straight and video game did not work properly :/ We never made it to the hot tub....But all in all it was a Great stay!! No way you could get there or up the driveway in winter w/o snow tires or a truck. The leaves were still on trees and everything was Beautiful from our front porch. I would Definitely recommend Sarah Bears Heaven!!

Dan & Cathy Griffiths .

Owner's reply:

Thanks, glad you enjoyed. Good advise on the stairs ( see pic of the front view) and yes 4wd is advised in the winter.
These random but amazing opportunities to see bears can be thrilling, but never leave food in your car or the doors open. Twra tragically euthanized an entire family of them last week in the chalet village area after a renter did exactly that.
Note: the video game works- we will improve the labeling of the on-off switch and power bar

Fantastic Gatlinburg Experience

October 14, 2015

Dan and Cathy's chalet, "Sara's Bear Heaven", is a quaint, homey chalet with a fantastic view of the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg. During our stay, we enjoyed perfect weather, beautiful scenery, and a relaxing stay at the chalet (and we were even lucky enough to see a few black bear cubs meandering along the roadside). From the front porch of the chalet, the sun rises lazily over the distant peaks and provides guests with stunning views of the tree-covered mountains. The owners go above and beyond to create a welcoming environment with several thoughtful amenities. The furniture and beds are extremely comfortable, the décor is rustic with some modern touches, the internet and cable are great technological additions for unwinding after a long day of walking around downtown Gatlinburg, the hot tub is fantastic, and they even have a selection of DVDs and board games for entertainment. Dan and Cathy make themselves readily available to their guests and respond quickly to any concerns or issues. Their customer service and attention to detail are outstanding. The chalet is a 5-8 minute drive from downtown Gatlinburg with several convenient parking options along the way. It is located conveniently close to several restaurants, shopping, the trolley line, and the cable car station to Ober Gatlinburg. The terrain is steep and winding at times, but nothing too treacherous. I would definitely recommend heeding their warnings about AWD vehicles in the winter, though. The last hill before reaching the chalet is a doozy. I definitely plan on staying here again, so I hope that all future guests treat Sarah's Bear Heaven as the treasure that it is and show it the respect it deserves. We could not have asked for a better experience on our Gatlinburg getaway and I would recommend this chalet to anyone and everyone interested in a great Smoky Mountain vacation.

Dan & Cathy Griffiths .

Owner's reply:

Thanks Jacob, excellent detail. Glad you enjoyed and got to see the local bears.

Motorcycle Trip

September 5, 2015

we enjoyed the cabin we rented. We were very pleased with the location and what was offered in the cabin. The one thing which made it difficult was the driveway and parking area for our motorcycles. It was very difficult to turn around in fact both parties tipped our bikes due to the unevenness of the terrain. I would recommend this cabin for anyone wanting a vacation with awesome views and great amenities, just not for people traveling on motorcycles. It was very cool when the bear showed up. It gave us great photo opportunities.

Dan & Cathy Griffiths .

Owner's reply:

Thanks Tom, glad you enjoyed the view and got to see a bear eating berries on the property.
You were our first guests with motorcycles, so thanks for the heads up on parking bikes. Driveway up is paved, main parking area is mainly gravel. Works well for cars, not so good for bikes.

Sarah's Bear Heaven is an INCREDIBLE cabin to stay in. I loved getting to wake up and see the mountains every morning on the porch and through the huge windows out of the front. I was looking for a cabin close to the national park and couldn't be more satisfied with the extremely short drive to get right into the smokies and start my hikes right away. The hot tub was great on the cold nights, and the interior of the cabin was cozy and decorated great. Walking in, my friends and I had our jaws on the floor seeing how nice and charming the cabin is. I will absolutely stay here again when I come back to visit!

Really glad you enjoyed the cabin. Be sure to ask about our returning guest discounts

Had a wonderful time at Sarah's Bear Heaven the week after Christmas. It was unseasonably warm and had some bad thunderstorms, but it cleared up eventually and we had a wonderful and COLD New Year's Eve overlooking Gatlinburg. We could see the Space Needle and fireworks from the balcony, as we could hear the neighbors join us in cheering and ringing in the new year! The cabin is quaint and cozy. All the reviews about steep drives and long stairs are correct. I have a 6 year old daughter who managed the steps easily though. It is a great cabin for parents with kids...pool table, hot tub, wifi, tv...never a dull moment! The beds are comfortable and I wanted to take the one leather chair it is sooo comfortable! I recommend this cabin to anyone, except elderly who may have trouble with stairs. The owners always responded promptly and are very friendly and courteous. Cabin was nice and clean. Pretty much exactly what was advertised!

Christmas Escape

Date of Stay
December 19, 2015

Dan & Cathy, Your home provided us with a great week of mountain views, memories, and unseasonably warm weather. We missed the snow by a week. Even without the white stuff there is still plenty to do in Gatlinburg /Pigeon Forge to keep any family busy. The house itself was warm and cozy with a great view and great access to the area. We took advantage of the hot tub one night and grilled steaks another. The fire place was nice and the boys especially liked having access to a PS3. The home was well equipped and well furnished with clear instructions and procedures for just about everything down to the smallest detail. A very nice surprise was to arrive and find that the home had been decorated for Christmas and had a tree which I thought I was going to have to buy and put up. From a maintenance standpoint everything was in good working order only encountered a couple minor issues as with any home. Light over the cook top was burned out and a bulb went out in one of the lamps and I couldn't find any replacements. The other issue was the automatic lock on the front door apparently has some issue with the battery cover not staying tightly fixed making the lock become unresponsive. Once I figured out was going on it was no big deal re-seated batteries and all was well. While there we went to Ober Gatlinburg, Shopped at the outlet mall in pigeon forge, walked the strip in Gatlinburg, Went to the lumberjack feud dinner, went to the movies, tasted some moonshine, and drove through the Smoky mountain park having lunch in Cherokee, NC. All and all we had a good trip even with the challenges the weather threw at us. I would highly recommend your home and the area to anyone interested in going. Kind Regards, Joey Brock

My Response

Excellent, glad you liked our tree decorating skills- lol. Thanks for the heads up on the keyless door lock, sounds like it is time to replace. Be sure to ask about our returning guest discounts if you make it back our way.

We were returning guest and pleasantly surprised with the many upgrades since last year. Very cozy, love the wall mount fireplaces. This chalet is well stocked and comfortable. Mountain living with a 5 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg. We were greeted by a bear cub eating berries from the tree, we all got great photos of the bear and an exciting story to tell our friends at home! Can't wait until we go back next year!

THOROUGHLY SATISFIED!

Date of Stay
October 8, 2015

My party of 4 adults could not have been happier upon our arrival at Sarah's Bear Heaven! We were only minutes away from Gatlinburg, and not much longer to Pigeon Forge. The property and the chalet were every bit as good as promised. The view was absolutely breathtaking! The chalet was very well stocked, super clean, and ultra comfortable. While we were only able to stay 3 nights, we found this rental to be a great value compared to the many, many others we researched. We did not get the chance to make use of the grill or the hot tub due to it raining for one entire day of our visit, but we watched our beloved Buckeyes on the big screen TV and shot many games of billiards. We loved the decor in the chalet (especially the electric fireplaces). We missed the bear family by an hour or two, as they appeared right after we checked out on our final day. Mr. Griffiths was kind enough to text me some photos he took at that time, though. That's another thing: Mr. and Mrs. Griffiths were readily available if any problems arose during our stay. They also kept in contact with me before, during, and after our stay. They are really friendly, really fair people to deal with. We had no problem getting our deposit back after our stay. In short, I would gladly recommend this rental to anyone I know, and I hope to bring my family back here as soon as possible. It was a beautiful place, and we had a great time. Just be careful if you visit during the snowy months, as the road leading up to the property could get quite treacherous!

My Response

Great, thanks. Yes good reminder for the winter months, they can turn on a sign at the bottom of ski mt road requiring 4wd or chains if it snows. We found last year the Gatlinburg Rd crews did a great job of keeping the roads clear. Rds to the cabin are all paved, but you are up the mt near the Ober Gatlinburg ski area.

Decided to get away for a long weekend and found this beautiful cabin in the Smokey's! The morning view was astonishing as well as the sunset! The premises are quite steep; however, family & I did not have any trouble accessing the cabin. We ventured into the hot tub each evening to relax after fun filled days of white water rafting, zip lining, rope courses, and of course Hillbilly miniature golf! Children came (adults, now) & we grilled out and sat around admiring the views. Kitchen was completely stocked & enough linens and towels for our family and more. We are soooo looking forward to coming back again. If you book this treasure, you will NOT be sorry! Oh, as we were leaving, Sarahs Bear Heaven lived up to its name! "They were amazing to watch!"

Our family stayed at Sarah's Bear Heaven from 8/15-8/19 and we absolutely loved every minute there! We had such a magnificent view from the house of the mountains; sunsets were gorgeous. There was nothing that was lacking while there. The kitchen was fully stocked, there were plenty of towels and bedding. The kids went into the hot tub every night that we were there. We didn't get a chance to use the DVD player but there were plenty of videos and games. We didn't get a chance to check out the clubhouse pools since we kind of packed all our activities into the few days we were there. We got to the house a little bit later on at night and I would suggest hitting the grocery store before you head up to the house versus what we did which was drive to the house, unload and then go back down the mountain to the grocery store. Just saves you an extra trip especially if you want to just get unpacked and settle in. Very close to Dollywood/Splash Country and Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. Dollywood was extremely clean and the kids never waited longer than 10 minutes for any of the rides; same thing with Splash Country; if you are visiting in the middle of August just check to make sure Splash Country is open. We weren't aware that Splash Country closed during the week once school started in the area. So we just made sure to hit the water park on Saturday/Sunday. I would highly recommend checking out the aquarium as well. We had fun walking around the downtown area; just be warned if you are driving through town that people just walk out into the crosswalk; sometimes without looking for cars. The owners were extremely responsive via email while we were at the house when we had questions. If we came back to Gatlinburg, we'd plan on staying again at Sarah's Bear Heaven. The only thing I would add is after reading the previous reviews is that they were not joking about the drive to the house! We were lucky that it only rained one day when we were driving back up, but the tires on my SUV were slipping getting up the steepest incline. But the views were absolutely worth it. We even had a little visitor (bear cub) who had a fun time eating berries off the bush in the front of the yard while we were there one morning!

We had a great getaway at Sarah Bears Heaven. The views were spectacular and our kids enjoyed watching the Ober Gatlinburg aerial tram! The property was in great shape and had everything we needed for our stay. Having DVD players in every room, the arcade game and wi-fi was an excellent touch. The properties close proximity to Downtown (traffic light 10) was perfect if you wanted to avoid a lot of the traffic on the strip. Maybe a 10 minute drive down the mountain to the aquarium or ober gatlinburg or skip it all to go right into the park. The clubhouse pool we visited wasn't great for younger children. The playground was closed and there was only a small 1 ft deep baby pool that our kids could use. This probably wouldn't be an issue for older kids as there was a slide. There were other pools we could have gone to but we stayed busy the rest of our trip and didn't have a chance. All in all a great trip, the property was as advertised and we'd definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful time at Sarahs Bear Heaven. The Chalet was just as described! We enjoyed the comfy king beds & the day bed with pull out trundle was perfect for the teens. Pool table, hot tub, T.V.s in every room, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, games etc. I can't say enough about the owners of this place!!! They are a dream to rent from. Answered all of my many questions & concerns & brought an extra fan for us & also put up another umbrella on the deck for extra shade. It was not hot the air worked great & there are ceiling fans throughout & an extra air conditioner upstairs. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the pools but we did drive by & the place looked great. The only downside we had was the steps up to the rental which were fine for all except we had one that couldn't climb well due to health reasons. In my opinion I had much rather have the Steps instead of that scary deck drop off that are on most rentals. No scary drop offs here..we felt completely safe. We also received a great discount at Papa Johns Pizza with our Chalet Pass & savings on groceries & gas also at Food City. There are no pictures of the bathrooms but they are both nice & spacious! We had 3 adults, two teenagers & a toddler. Plenty of room. If you are going to stay in chalet village this is a wonderful choice!! Just want to say thank you so much to the owners, they are the kindest people I have ever encountered with a rental. Thank you for sharing your beautiful ski cabin.

My Response

Excellent, very glad you enjoyed and thanks for the detailed review. Good to know the a/c is working well as we head into our first summer renting out the chalet. Believe the new umbrella on the front deck should add to the viewing comfort as the tram passes by. It was very nice conversing with you and glad you had a great vacation, hope to see you back next year.

I have stayed at a lot of cabins in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge over the last 20 years, but I have to say this cabin was the best one I have stayed at yet. Great view, great furnishings and they have gone above and beyond on what they supply the renter with. Always have the camera handy, this is bear country. The bears do not seem to be afraid of humans. The owners have put up high fencing in the back of the cabin and a new gate at the front of the cabin at the top of the steps. We really enjoyed this 2 bed 2 bath cabin.

Thank you for the great comments, we very pleased that you enjoyed. The three owners club pools and clubhouses are open now. Just remember to take the owners club guest passes with you. South Baden is the largest and closet ( 3 min drive);, upper Alpine is smaller but has a kiddie pool fountain - see the links section . And yes please don't leave any food or garbage on the patio or in your car- We posted one of your pics of the 3 bears passing by the cabin. Thanks

My wife and I stayed there for three nights with our two young kids. While there was plenty to do at the Smokey Mountain National Park during the day, the house was also perfect for us to spend our early nights in: there were board games, a pool table, and a hot tub. We ate in every night and found the kitchen to have anything you could possibly need to cook a good meal, which is not something you often find in these vacation rentals. The view was STUNNING and we really enjoyed it both sitting outside in the mornings or just looking out the window in the evening. One of the blinds broke as soon as we got there and the owners immediately came to fix it and were very courteous and nice. We would recommend it and stay there again. The road is very steep to get to the cabin, if you are going in the winter I would keep that in mind, in spring/summer it was absolutely no problem.

Excellent, glad you enjoyed and it was very nice to meet you. Come on back next year- we finally found an original ski lift chair that we are reconditioning into a swing. Should be ready this summer. and expect the kids will enjoy that.

We had a wonderful time at the chalet during our stay. Although we were a bit scared being so high up into the mountains, we felt perfectly comfortable while we were there. The proximity to downtown is a great plus. It was just a short little drive down the mountain- maybe 5 minutes or less. The cabin was very well stocked, clean, and cozy. The light switched were labeled making it easy to identity which light to use. The kitchen had all utensils and even small coffee packs as well. There were board games, PS3 games, and a pool table. The view from right out the door was breathtaking and refreshing each time we glanced at it. The Griffiths were very kind and informative before, during, and after our stay. I would recommend downloading the mobility app as it is very detailed and helps with every aspect. Overall, we would recommend this cabin and would love to return again.

My friends and I took a trip to Sarah's Bear Heaven for our Spring Break vacation. This place is excellent and absolutely beautiful. It rained the entire time we were there, but the morning we left it cleared up and we saw the AMAZING view. The cabin was very very clean, and we also had the pleasure of meeting Cathy and Dan when they came up to our cabin to help us with something! They are super friendly people. The cabin was simply amazing, and we plan on returning at least yearly!!!

We were most pleasantly surprised by the rustic feel of the home, and most of all the cleanliness. Extra attention to detail such as coffee supplies, labels on light switches, flashlights in handy places, extra duraflame logs, loads of fun games, books and movies made this a great experience for the whole family. This cabin had more little perks than any we have experienced before. Owners were very responsive to questions, We really enjoyed the fireplace (the real one and the "fireplaces" in the bedrooms are a nice touch), pool table and arcade games were fun. We loved the ski-theme and bear-theme decorations, very nice and cozy cabin, we would highly recommend to anyone looking to relax close to downtown Gatlinburg. And oh yeah.... the Views are Awesome! Thanks!
My Response
Thanks, we are glad you enjoyed our efforts to keep that original ski chalet feel. (LOL - which means we argue about the decorating choices and let Sarah have the final vote). She will be pleased . Our cleaners will be very happy to know they got another compliment. We hope you can return next year. Regards

We had such a great get-a-way at your chalet! It was easy to find with a large area to park. Check-in & check-out was effortless! The entrance was welcoming and spacious. We enjoyed the fireplace so much. The main living area was comfortable and the tv was huge...with great dvd's and a gaming system. The furniture was comfortable and in perfect condition. The decorations were modest and tasteful. The game room was ideal and we enjoyed many games of pool and the children enjoyed the arcade game! The electric fireplace was perfect to maintain the temperature and add to the ambiance. The kitchen, the typical gathering area for families, was visible from the living area and was stocked with everything needed - from a roaster to have dinner ready for us when we returned from the slopes, to muffin tins to prepare breakfast treats the next morning. Every utensil imaginable was included with a great selection of bowls, plates, cups, and glasses.....great pots and pans, too! What a nice touch, also, with coffee, hot chocolate, and a bag of popcorn left for us! The table was big and solid - perfect for our meals and a game of Yahtzee! The bedrooms were big with SUPER COMFY king size beds with lots of great pillows. The closets were huge! Every detail was thought of - with fireplaces, bedside tables with lamps, tv's, clocks, chairs, super-soft blankets, and nice decorations. The bathrooms were so clean with more than enough towels and extra linens. An added bonus was a washer & dryer with laundry detergent (we left some we brought for your next guests)! A super quick drive to Ober Gatlinburg and downtown. We had a GREAT trip and thank you so much ... you thought of EVERYTHING a guest would need!!!

This place was great- especially for the price! We looked at several cabins in Gatlinburg but this was one looked like the best deal. I figured that there was going to be some kind of hidden fee or something weird with the cabin- nope, everything was great! Beautiful views, a private hot tub, the pool table, the fireplace, lots of TVs with cable and provided DVDs. It was perfect! It was also a quick drive to Gatlinburg. Thank you so much for making this such a great stay! Highly recommend this cabin!

Thanks, we have no rental company upcharge to handle the bookings so are able to provide very competitive rates. Every guest has been very considerate and left the chalet in good shape which helps keep the deposit low. We believe our winter rates are an especially good value being that close to Ober Gatlinburg and appreciate our guest's reviews to help get the word out as our list of satisfied guests continues to grow. Glad you enjoyed Sarah's Bear Heaven.

It is located only two miles from the smokey mountain brewery which has wonderful food and entertainment. We only needed our toiletries and food to cook... Everything else was provided. Nice large television, comfortable furniture, pool table, hot tub, and a great grill...We had a great time.

Sarah's Bear Heaven was Everything I had hoped for and more. the first thing I noticed was it was SUPER clean, you could actually walk across the floor without getting your white socks dirty. The cabin was well thought out as providing you with everything you could ever ask for, right down to flash lights, first aid kits, and anything else that none else would think of, thanks for the great attention to detail.

Talk about the views, Wow, it was amazing, we were able to ring in the new year and see the ball drop in Gatlinburg right from the front deck of the cabin without having to fight the crowd or parking issues downtown. The daytime views of the mountains were awesome as well.
When you stay here there is no need to worry, you will be very satisfied from booking to checking out, it was a breeze.
Hats off to the owners, I will stay here again...

Awesome Christmas Family Experience at Sarah's Bear Heaven

This chalet was perfect for our first family Christmas gathering in the Smoky Mtns! We stayed from 12/23 - 12/27 for a total of four nights. The decorations were tastefully done and the Christmas tree was beautiful...thank you so much for the lovely tree- it made out Christmas! This chalet actually has three bedrooms, making it perfect for our two families (one from middle TN and the other from coastal North Carolina) to meet and spend the holiday together. We used every bed and they were all so comfortable. There was plenty of room for all of us, and our three kids (17,19 and 20) had plenty of entertainment with the pool table and Playstation. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped to make a complete Christmas dinner with everything we could ask for in terms of appliances (such as mixer) and cookware. All we had to do was bring the food to cook! And there was also a very sweet complimentary drink table with hot chocolate, coffee, sweeteners, and even a bag of popcorn. Our sister-in-law had been concerned if it would still feel like Christmas being away from our homes, but it truly was wonderful in every way. We couldn't have asked for a better chalet! The steps outside are a little daunting but worth the extra effort. The view is spectacular! We would definitely stay here again (and hopefully will!) and and will recommend to other family and friends. The owners are very gracious and are quick with communication. A definite five star vacation experience! We had such a special Christmas here at Sarah's Bear Heaven...one we will always remember! We wanted something different this year after suffering some family losses, and this was the perfect solution..and one we will want to do again, as it was so wonderful. Words cant express our appreciation enough. Thank you!

Review #10713399 "we absolutely love our stay at Sarah's Bear Heaven! "
We arrived to find a very clean cabin, with a beautiful view. It wasn't hard to find at all, the roads were in good shape as well. It was perfect location for us. The view was gorgeous, we could see all of downtown Gatlinburg and the most beautiful sunrises. Literally minutes away downtown and Ober, which is where we spent a lot of time. For the nights we just wanted to stay in, the local pizza place delivered. Dining I would recommend: Apple Barn, Old Mill, Pancake Pantry, BubbaGump's, Ski Mountain Pizza. I'll have to say the owners were a delight as well. They actually call us to check in to see if everything was going as planned. We definitely plan on booking again

Cabin great, with spectacular views, all the amenities that you would expect to find in a cabin. The kitchen was excellent, had everything any cook would want to have. Just like your kitchen at home. Even had an electric turkey roaster. The beds were comfortable, with a TV etc., all the comforts of home. Very good restaurants nearby. 3 Jimmies and Texas Barbecue were two that were tried, food excellent. Saw a show at Fannie Adams, go if you get the chance, as we thoroughly enjoyed it. Even saw bears on the way down the mountain, as someone had left out some garbage, which is a big no no. Would highly recommend this cabin for a very enjoyable vacation.

Glad you enjoyed and found it warm & cozy . We are going to add three great looking wall mounted electric fireplaces later this week to increase the ambiance even further ( one for each king bedroom and the largest for the pool table room). Sorry you didn't get to see one, but there actually are bears in the neighborhood ( The Charter communication team that installed our cable, wifi and phone service met them Sept 30th at the bottom of the drive by the bear proof garbage container). Mother bear and three youngsters, strolled up the neighbors yard, crossed by the side of the chalet ( just like the posted pic by the shortest trail sign), then across the back of our property to the other neighbors. My wife was too surprised to grab the camera and the charter team almost forgot to install the phone service. If you do get fortunate enough to see these magnificent creatures, please do not approach, just admire and let them pass.

Really enjoyed our recent stay. Unexpected snow upon our arrival but the ride up and down Ski Mountain was not too bad. The view from the cabin was exceptional! All our needs were met! Only recommendation is that some form of heat be added to the pool room. We only got to play one game due to the temperature.

My wife and I stayed here from Oct 30-Nov 2 and we were blown away by the view. We got up early on Friday morning to watch the sun rise and it was absolutely beautiful. Later that day the sky got cloudy and it started to rain and by 9 pm it was snowing. Snowing like a blizzard I might add. I woke up early Saturday morning to no power and nearly 7 inches of snow on the ground. Again, the view we had was something we will cherish the rest of our lives. We wound up having to leave early since the power was out and according to reports, many trees were down all over the mountain and the power coming back on any time soon was merely a dream. The cabin is well stocked with all the furniture and utensils one would need. The hot tub was very nice and did i mention the view? If you are looking for a place to stay and you want something that will allow you to sit and drink coffee, watch the sun rise to an unobstructed view of the mountain then this is place for you. The owners were nice enough to refund us for the day we had to leave and I can say we will definitely stay here again. I only wish I could post pictures of the beauty we saw while we were there. Thank you Dan and Cathy for letting us stay there. We will see you again in the spring :)

Thanks for your kind comments and great description especially considering the adventure mother nature threw your way. We posted a picture of the snow covered mountain view from that very early surprise snow storm and agree the view and sunrise really need to be seen in person, pictures do not truly capture the full beauty of it. We gladly refunded the day lost for the power outage and always want our guests to enjoy full value for their stay. Kudos to the Gatlinburg crews who worked late to clear the downed trees and restored power by about 2am that night. We look forward to your return trip to finish up your vacation. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

We had a great time at Sarah's Bear Haven...the cabin was exactly what we were hoping for with beautiful mountain views...we loved the sunrises and had great weather while we were there. Quick access to Ober Gatlinburg as well as downtown Gatlinburg, and the National Park. The best deal going is the ice skating at Ober; my 9 and 6 year old had the best time and they had never skated before. The owner is very nice. The house is nice and clean. Love it. No bugs or dead bugs like many cabins we used to stay. Bedrooms are on different floor. Very privacy. The most beautiful view from the deck. Every room has nice cable TV. Nice kitchen and full of new kitchen tools, pans, and dinnerwares. Just like staying in a hotel: lots of pillows, extra blankets, clean towels, soaps. hand soaps and new, clean, big and good working bathrooms. The house is very close to downtown Gatlingburg. Very convenient. But there are lots of steps to the front door.

We are very pleased you enjoyed the view, we really decided to buy the chalet right after our first look off the front deck. You are our second model guest leaving the chalet in excellent shape. We'd love to see you return. Yes plenty of stairs but worth it. One advantage of the stairs up the tiered property is the driveway to the private parking area is not too steep or long making it easily driveable ( you may have heard the spinning tires of some of the other guests in the area LOL). Frequently Asked Questions

Q: . What makes your vacation rental special?
A: The view from the front deck is really special. Can't quite capture the depth of it in the pictures.
Inside we just loved the high vaulted ceiling and spiral staircase to the 2nd floor.
Lots of talented craftsmen in the area so we have enjoyed decorating with some of their carvings and adding some old school ski pictures for that Nordic feel.
Q: What's the coolest nearby activity?
A: Lots of favorites.

-Sweet Fanny Adams - 1830's style theater is great - old style vaudeville live shows
- Take the Tram from Ober Gatlinburg down to the city and try to pick out Sarah's Bear Heaven's red roof as you cross one of the towers
- follow the beautiful "Little River" from the Gatlinburg bypass to Cades cove.
- Free Moonshine tasting, and all the live music entertainment on the weekends in Gatlinburg
Q: Are there really bears in the chalet village area.?
A: We have owned the chalet since Sept and know of two sightings of the family of 4. Cathy saw them first after we purchased, when they startled the Charter cable installers who met them by our bear proof garbage containers, they scooted up the neighbors lawn, and around the back of our chalet to the other neighbors where Cathy saw them clearly from the kitchen window, mother and three youngsters.
Then our late Nov guests saw all 4 of them on Echo ( right before Heiden dr) as they drove down the mountain. They shared the video clip with us and we are going to leave a video of that at the chalet. Hilarious as the youngsters played, and then you can see a clip from the back of that house where they skillfully walked along the top of the deck railing. Amazing, never leave garbage out or they will get in trouble, and if you get to see them just admire - do not approach or disturb them. We finally figured out how to post a link to our You Tube video showing the chalet village bear family playing two blocks from the chalet. See the link at the bottom of the site. A group of three came very close to the bbq area while a guest was cooking in the spring- we have since added high fencing around the whole bbq / hot tub area so they can't help cook anymore. We posted a guest picture from the deck of them passing by.
