We really enjoyed ourselves. It was quite private & the lake was very quiet. The owner, Mitch, was very helpful & accessible. I thought it was a great deal, less expensive then most of the other rentals we viewed.
A family vacation with the grandparents, daughter, son-in-law and three active boys under age 11 couldn't have been better! At first glance we thought the cottage is nice (and clean!) but the lake a little small. Well, the lake was perfect. Clear, clear water, sandy bottom (not muck), no weeds and WARM. We couldn't keep the boys out of it! Delightful. Two kayaks and a pedal boat saw a lot of action as well. Our 8 year old learned to paddle and did a great job. No need for the available canoe or row boat. The cottage had everything we needed (no air, but lots of ceiling fans). I would suggest bringing your own pillows though. No dishwasher .... but it's a cottage! Nice! The community pool was wonderful as well (but who needed it, really?) The cottage is one dwelling away from a dead end, so it was wonderfully quiet (except for our boys!). The grill was great and saw a lot of use. The hot tub was excellently maintained .... but we really didn't use it as the temp was in the high 80s. Only 10.1 miles to Meijer with not much in between. We were gifted with really nice weather; no rain at all. We try to rent different cottages all over northern Michigan from the Big Lakes to the small. Some cottages were more fancily furnished, with air and all .... but my daughter said this was actually one of her favorite places, ever! It was just a perfect week.
“Great cottage on a quiet lake”
I had a great time at this cottage with my friends. We went as two couples, and there was a whole extra bedroom left over.. We spent a lot of time swimming in the lake, canoeing, kayaking, soaking in the hot tub, and barbecuing. There are a few powerboats that use the lake, but they mostly stay on the other side of the narrow neck to the big half so it's perfectly quiet and safe to swim by the cottage. The hot tub is great. There are no lights, but there's more than enough room. There's a privacy screen, not that there's an urgent need for one. Me and my friends ended up reading a lot in the tub. It's a good way to warm up for the lake, or relax after. There's a bunch of stuff in the area for daytrips. It's 45 minutes to rafting on Sturgeon river and about an hour from Mackinaw island. Gaylord itself is quite nice, with several restaurants and grocery stores in town.
“Super for the Super Bowl”
Great way to spend Super Bowl weekend. We always head up north for a few days around the Super Bowl and this was one of the best experiences ever. Wonderful, charming lakefront chalet. Fire in the fireplace every night and multiple nighttime visits to the hot tub - even in zero degree weather. Went for walks on the lake and rides in town. Accomodations were perfect. Would visit again for sure. One word of advice: there is a reason for the parking spot at the top of the driveway. Pulled down the driveway to unload the car and almost didn't make it back up! This would make a perfect summer getaway spot too.
“Tranquil and Perfect!”
This is our 2nd time here. We really enjoy the location. Very close to snowmobile trails and not far from Gaylord. We will probably stay again!! Fair price for the home. Thank you!!
A great time couldn't have nicer more accommodating people to rent from. Not a single negative thing to say.
