Description of the Gig Harbor vacation home rental
If you want to be on the beach and in a large traditional Northwest home this is your place. It is clean and well lit with lots of windows. There are decks on every floor and on both sides of the building so you get morning and afternoon sun.

But the best part is by far the beach. Just walk the short flat path and you find yourself on a gravelly beach with wonderful West facing views. There is an old covered beach sitting area where you can sit down with a good book and watch the tides come in and out.

The bay is shallow and, unlike many salt water locations, the water gets warm enough to swim in. In fact, the owners do it for hours. Or bring your boat. You can actually beach it right up by the sitting area at high tide.

Inside, the home is immaculately decorated with all the modern convinces. There are three bedrooms and two baths and the home sleeps up to 12. The kitchen is modern with all features and fully stocked with pots, pans, dinner ware and anything else you need.

There is a ton to do in Gig Harbor, like exploring the many Art Galleries, Boutiques and fine restaurants, or taking a harbor tour. Nearby Allyn boasts a PGA golf course at Lakeland Village, and Kayak and boat rentals are available in Allyn or Belfair, both about seven miles from the home. Port Orchard, just 15 minutes away, is a Mecca for those interested in antiques and treasure hunting. The downtown waterfront offers shopping, museums, entertainment, galleries and dining, with ferry access from Bremerton and Seattle

This location is like being in the Garden of Eden with mature fir, cedar trees, a terraced garden full of native plants and even a vibrant waterfall, and all of it just minutes from all the fun you could imagine.

Area Information
One of Washington State's most scenic areas. Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula are recreational paradises located almost dead center in the Puget Sound area. With a maritime and timber history there is a rich heritage and a vibrant thriving community. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the incredible scenery, galleries, upscale shops, waterfront restaurants, festivals, gorgeous gardens, recreational offerings and distinctive architecture.

The discovery of this "excellent little bay" by Captain Charles Wilkes in 1841 found a protected harbor with abundant fishing, lumber, rich soil surrounding and unsurpassed beauty. Wilkes was not the first to realize this treasure. Native Americans had long had a seasonal camp at the head of the harbor to reap the rewards of the salmon migration.

Surrounded by water Gig Harbor slumbered for many years as a self-sustained community with little access to the outside communities. But in 1940 with the opening of the first Tacoma Narrows Bridge (a.k.a "Galloping Gertie") the community passed into a new era that is still today changing and growing.

Very unhappy!

July 29, 2014

We had some issues with Los Alteros. First the cable and wifi didn't work so we had no access to computers or TV. One of the fireplaces was not working as well. The carpet is white and we obeyed the signs by going without shoes but I accidentally spilled a cup of coffee and was charged an extra $300 for cleaning with no notice. It just came out of my credit card. The location is great, it's a nice house but the overall experience was very disappointing. The beds are very uncomfortable but we could have lived with that. I suggest you read the small print well before booking!!

Property was right on the beach, clean and had all of the necessities needed for a vacation. Beautiful landscaped grounds with trees, ferns, and walkway to beach. Really enjoyed our stay.

Interesting Experience

February 13, 2014

Our overall stay was satisfactory. Things which should have been taken care of.....clear access to the house (it was difficult to find our way to the house in 2' of snow with small kids), no heating to the level below....couldn't use the bedroom downstairs and simple things like Dishwasher Detergent. Views from the house are amazing. Despite of some inconveniencies we can go there again.

May 10, 2013

We enjoyed a nice weekend get away with my adult daughters & childhood best friend and her adult daughters....we had plenty of space to spread out and scrapbook....watch movies....read by the beautiful picture window...the setting was so picturesque! Driving directions were great....instructions were easy to follow....our only hitch was figuring out how to work the oven!

We had an amazing time at The Alteros. From the beginning of the reservation to the end, it was handled very professionally. The house was amazing! Very roomy and clean. A couple of items needed upgrading such as the hangers and towels. The hangers were old and mostly broken and the towels were not large enough for adults. They also needed beach towels. The amenties such as soap, cleaning detergents etc. needed replaced. The bunk bed had a broken slat and the rope on the umbrella was broken. Also, the trash men did not pick up all the trash on trash day and there was no place to put it. All-in-all, I would rent it again. It had an amazing view and the balconies were great.

The Alteros house was fantastic. Having the beach out the front and in the trees was very nostalgic. Having an outside shower so when you got back from the beach was great. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My kids have a great time digging clams and oysters.
