“Incredible return visit to see family and friends”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2015

What can I say? The apartment was incredible, with a view of the pyramid that was awesome! Vern and Alaa were great in helping me coordinate everything and checked with me regularly to make sure my trip was everything I expected. I was visiting my family in Egypt again and we were able to have family dinners at the apartment too. I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone travelling to Egypt. It is penthouse quality all the way. It is private and the people are friendly. The food is incredible in Egypt...you must try everything! The outdoor cafes are awesome. My experience this time in Egypt was as good as the other. I especially loved this trip because I was not doing all the touristy things this time, but getting to spend much time with my family and friends. Vern and Alaa thank you so much. It was a pleasure getting to know you both! I already miss Egypt so much! Shukran!

I don't know where to begin! The apartment is literally a penthouse with all the fixings and is very comfortable and private. There is also a different view of the city from all 3 balconies with the best being from the main balcony which is equipped with a swinging chair. Waking up each morning to see the pyramids was an experience that never got old. We went to a new city and a new sight every day and learned more and more of the Egyptian culture. Even with all the sightseeing and travels throughout Cairo and Giza, I would have to say the favorite part of the trip was Ahmed, Nasr, Sayed, our driver and all the other friendly faces of the Sary Bazaar. I have never felt so comfortable, safe and at home anywhere else. We were treated as though we were family and saw parts of Cairo and Giza that you would never see if you were to stay in a hotel. We ate the local foods and were able to go to a coffee shop and had hooka (tobacco) which was walking distance from the apartment. I must also say that Vern and Alaa were great in getting us to the apartment and making sure everything was set up when we got there. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had and before we left we were making plans to come back for twice as long as we stayed this time. The #1 question they had for us was were we happy? By the time we left we were drinking the tea, had hooka, hanging our clothes on the clothes line to dry and we were asking them if they were happy with us! I can't wait to go back

Book this apartment! This is not just an apartment, but it is the PENTHOUSE. The apartment is beautifully appointed and is actually better then the pictures. Terrace overlooks the pyramids and is where we spent a great deal of time. There is no amenity not available in this place. Also absolutely loved and appreciated all our new friends in Sary shops downstairs. We are still emailing them. Look no further for the best place to stay in Cairo. Thanks to the owners also.

5/5An Oasis in Cairo

On the 9th floor of an apartment building overlooking the Pyramids the apartment is an oasis from the hustle and bustle of busy Cairo. The apartment is perfect (very modern inside with a kitchen to die for), roomy, comfortable and completely self contained. All you need is to walk 2 blocks and stock up on groceries.Everything was better than advertised. Vern, the owner was in communication and extremely helpful with arrangements for our visit to the city. We had tours and guides to all the big sites arranged through a service recommended by the owner which were great. We walked a couple blocks or took taxis to restaurants. What more could you ask for. If I am lucky enough to return, this is where I want to stay again.

Owner response: Linda Thank you so much for your great comments hope you and you better half had a great time if you ever decide to come to Egypt again please check with me again We are buying another apartment on pyramid road 3 blocks from where you stayed just a great place also thanks again have a safe 2010 Vern & Alaa Edit My Response

A cultural experience!

The best part of staying in the apartment versus a hotel in the tourist district is that you can experience the true local culture. You also don't have to worry about being hassled by people trying to sell stuff when you want to go for an evening stroll. It was pretty cool waking up to a view of the Pyramids from the living room balcony. The kitchen is well equipped (gas range), so you can cook your own meals. There is a western style grocery store about a 10-15 minute walk from the building around the corner from the McDonalds (just ask anyone on the street how to get to the McDonalds). Even closer, you will find a bunch of local food shops and stores where you can find fair (local) prices without needing to haggle much. Taxis are plentiful on the main street but they are not regulated/metered. If you dislike haggling over fares, I would definitely arrange for a private driver. If this is your first trip to Egypt, make sure you take the time to at least learn some basic Arabic phrases. Overall, the apartment was a nice place to stay, it is ideal for a big group, and the location grants an immersive cultural experience.

5/5Beautiful Apartment in Cairo that is walking distance to Pyramids

My husband and I stayed five nights in this wonderful apartment. The owner is an excellent communicator and was very quick in answering and confirming our request for use of the apartment. The apartment is very clean, well-equipped, and has an amazing view of the Pyramids. It was a 25 minute walk to the Pyramids, along safe streets. We walked to the light show in the evening and always felt comfortable exploring the area which is truly fascinating. There are two local shopping centres about a five minute walk from the apartment where you can buy everything you need. You experience a different aspect of Cairo when you walk the area and shop in the local stores. We loved this experience, but of course, it is not for everyone. We found everyone we met to be friendly and very helpful and we never felt threatened or unsafe at any time, even late at night. The apartment has AC, dishwasher, washing machine and is fully equipped for cooking. There is wireless internet access and endless television channels on a huge TV. The owner's sister lives a short distance away and she is always available to help with whatever needs you have. It was a very pleasant stay for us and we highly recommend this beautiful apartment to anyone who wants to experience 'living' in Cairo. The view from the apartment window is priceless.

Owner response: Thanks so much glad you enjoted your stay if we can ever be of assistance again please lets us know thanks Alaa & Vern Edit My Response
