“Wonderful, Relaxing,Lakeside Home”
We just returned from a week at this lovely, spacious cabin set amongst the trees and alongside Mountain Lake. The cabin has all the charm of the Adirondacks with the convenience of modern, comfortable furnishings. It is a great open floor plan on the first floor. We spent most of our time either on/in the lake or looking at it from the porches. Nice fire pit for evening star gazing and marshmallow roasting. We enjoyed watching the family of ducks and the Loons. Kayak trips on the water were fun too. Yes, the shower was on the small side, but not a problem. If you are looking for a "get away" place, this is it; quiet, lovely natural surroundings, and a well maintained cabin. We plan on returning.
We had a great vacation in this beautiful cabin. We especially enjoyed fishing off the dock and taking the kayaks out on the lake. The location is very quiet and peaceful. We loved sitting on the porch and reading or playing games or watching TV on the upper porch. Our family enjoys playing games so we appreciated the great selection of board games. We had our 17 year old daughter and 21 year old son with us, and both of them enjoyed the trip. We traveled to the Adirondack Museum and stopped at a store along the way and bought some rafts for floating on the Lake - it was very relaxing since there are no motor boats on the lake. We also took a day trip to Saratoga Springs to watch the horse races. It was worth the trip - it is a beautiful city. Gloversville is a quaint town with everything you will need for your stay. There are nice grocery stores and a new Wal-Mart within 10 minutes. There is a rail trail if you have your bikes with you. We only rode about 3 miles because it started to rain so we're not sure how long the trail is. The cabin itself is very accommodating with a beautifully remodeled kitchen. The dining room table was perfect for meals and for playing games. We didn't really use the living room areas because we hung out on the porches. The bedrooms are nicely decorated. A couple of the beds were not the most comfortable but we may be spoiled by our comfortable beds at home. The lack of a washer and dryer wasn't really an issue for us. We didn't go to the laundramat while we were there and just started doing laundry as soon as we got home. The single bathroom was a little inconvenient but we managed that as well. The shower stall was a little small for our 6 foot tall son. It would also be small for anyone who is larger. We would definitely stay here again. It is a great location, quiet, spacious, and nicely decorated. We actually enjoyed it better than going to the beach - no sand and no crowds!
Owner's reply: Thank you, Jeff and Linda, we so appreciate your feedback, and would welcome you back as valued guests. You are lovely people! Best, Carol and Cliff
“Everything you could want!”
There were 7 of us staying in the cabin. Four adults, 2 - 14 year olds and 1- 12 year old. There was plenty of room. The enclosed upper and lower decks are huge, in addition to those two rooms there is an equally large living room area, dining room and a bar around the kitchen counters that seats six. The kitchen was well appointed, nice appliances and all the needed tools to create great meals, including an awesome grill. The lake is lovely, and the two kayaks and paddle boat make exploring it fun! The water temperature was great and the water was clear and clean. Even our two teenaged-technology-loving boys enjoyed the kayaks on the lake. The extra large fire pit was great for nightly marshmallow roasts. And there were plenty of chairs to gather around the fire, and a picnic table to hold the graham crackers and chocolate. The cabin had lovely decorations that made it very homey and there were puzzles, games and books for every age. There were also outdoor games and fishing supplies. The owners were very accessible, though we found we didn't need anything. We loved our week at the cabin. It is conveniently located near Gloversville and Johnstown. So popping out for groceries was easy, and didn't occupy much of our precious vacation time. Will be staying at the cabin again.
Owner's reply: We appreciate your comments, and it was lovely speaking with you!
“Had an amazing time!”
Hi Cliff, I just wanted to email you and thank you again for the opportunity to stay in your cabin. The place was beautiful and the view was breathtaking. The ability to see what felt like a million stars was so exciting! We had a very relaxing week, and it was just what we needed. We meet some of the neighborhood dogs, and there was a about 6 month old kitten that hung around with us. I hope we cleaned the house as if it was our own. The only note I wanted to tell you was we never used the propane grill because we prefer charcoal, so if the tank was full upon our arrival it still is. Thank you seems repetitive but I truley mean it after a rough last couple years being able to surprise my family with such an amazing week meant more then you know. Thank you!!! Happily, Kaitlin :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our week. Lazy days started with coffee on the swim dock in the cool, crisp morning air, followed by breakfast, then maybe a swim once once the sun made it onto the water. My toddler son loved playing on the swim dock, going out on the kayaks and the paddle boat, and exploring the lake. It was a fantastic family time. My son asks everyday since we left if we can go back.
Owner's reply: Thank you, we appreciate the review, and it was a pleasure working with you to arrange your trip. Our property manager thought very highly of you -- enjoy the rest of the season!
“Really good vacation”
This is a really good vacation rental. I stayed at Mountain Lake Lodge with my family for a week in July and had a very good experience. The house is big, the lake beautiful and quiet, and the atmosphere is relaxing. I look forward to staying here again next year.
We came with two families with children age 7 to 19. It is a great house to stay in with children! Most of the time we spent at the lake. There are no motor boats in the lake, so one can swim across (although I preferred having another person in a boat close by). The lake is large enough so the kids can go canoeing, and small enough so one does not have to worry that they can get lost. Lots of indoor and outdoor games. The kitchen and dining area are spacious, the sun-room was a wonderful place to spend the evenings playing games. Very nice owners too. We had a great time.
House is comfortable and quaint and pretty well equipped. Lake is lovely and the water is fine. This is a smallish lake, which is good as there's no motor craft, but it's also a bit over-developed. Perfect for kids. We had a great week there.
What a friendly, fabulous, quiet, perfect lake vacation. We were 2 families of four and the cabin had tons of room for us. We read, swam, ate, hiked, ate and swam. The cabin had everything we needed. We loved evening fires in the firepit while star-gazing. We loved pedalling around the lake in the pedal-boat, and kayaking, too. The lake was just the right sixe for us to swim its width and back every day! The neighbors brought us dinner on our first evening! We would love to go back her one day. Our thanks to Cliff and Carol.
