Overall the cottage was great. Supplied all the towels and sheets we needed. The kayaks and canoe were so much fun. Life jackets were perfect. I would just have to say the only bad thing was the water in the house smelled and tasted like sulfur. Bring bottled water to drink, make coffee and brush teeth etc. Owners were very friendly and helpful.
“peaceful retreat close to Portland”
We stayed here 4th of July week, loved it! Had a family BBQ for the holiday, spent the rest of the week relaxing and entertaining our musical friends and more family :) . Access to canoe and kayaks, swim out floating dock, our dog loved the easy access to the water and enjoyed swimming several times a day, who could ask for more ? We are already looking forward to our next visit :)
“Beautiful and relaxing”
I was worried at first that we would be bored. There is no TV or wifi and the cottage is right in the woods. This eas actually great the scenery was beautiful and the yard, dock, and house were absolutely beautiful and relaxing. This is one of the beat trips we have ever had. Fishing and kayaking everyday and going into the surrounding cities in the evening. Highly recommended, the owners are so unbelievably kind too.
“Quiet weekend getaway”
This cabin was perfect for just my husband and I. I brought him here for a last-minute birthday surprise getaway. It was small but just enough for two people. It was a good thing however, that we were rained out because there would not have been enough room to invite a couple close friends or family. You wouldn't know that the owner was there except that you have to share the beach with them. What would've made this property even better would be your own private the beach. Truly though, this spot is perfect for a romantic weekend alone. Such a cute and clean space. Thank you for helpings give my husband a great birthday!
“Amazing Place for Relaxation & Fun on the Water”
Great house, premium location and perfect choice for a relaxing Summer getaway. In this case, it definitely pays to be off the beaten path. The house, while small, is clean and well-decorated. Two wrap-around porches gave us amazing views of the water. We totally loved being able to bring our pups on vacation with us. They were in doggy heaven on this property - we could hardly keep them out of the water! We loved relaxing on the lawn, on the dock or in the hammock and watching them play. While there is no fenced-in area, there is so little car traffic we didn't have to worry much. The yard has several tall trees which provide a good balance of sun + shade, especially in the late afternoon. The river, only about 50ft from the house, is clean, calm and great for swimming, boating or kayak/paddleboarding. The area did tend to get a bit "buggy" at night so definitely pack the bug spray & citronella. All windows/doors in the house have screens so we could keep the bugs out while still keeping the house cool at night. Both Susan and the property owners were great throughout the rental process and made sure we had everything we needed (they even left an extra propane tank in case the current one ran out!) The kitchen was stocked with all the appliances needed. Just be sure to bring the "basics" if you plan on cooking. Short of salt/pepper and some spices, the kitchen was pretty bare. The fully stocked closet of board games definitely makes up for the lack of a TV. Overall, a great choice for a relaxing, sun-drenched, waterfront vacation! We hope to return soon.
