Description from owner

Welcome to Maplewood Cottage, our much loved family home in the private community of Southcott Pines, a shady three minute walk from your private access to the sparkling shores of Lake Huron, Ontario's West Coast. Summer 2017 is fully booked, but we do have some lovely June weeks left for you to get your feet in the sand.

Since we found our hidden gem a few years ago, we began a series of renovations including front and back decks, sun-room, and a redesigned lower courtyard. In 2014 we transformed the formerly dark galley kitchen into a functional but friendly space that flows seamlessly into the dining and main floor living space. A sunny cook's kitchen with Wolf range, soapstone counters, wine fridge, big island and warm hemlock floors, it's designed for sharing food, drink, fun and conversation.

Gather around the big wooden dining table with seating for twelve or picnic outdoors on the spacious raised deck with gas BBQ and comfy deck furniture.

The upper level continues in authentic cottage fashion, open concept living in knotty pine and overstuffed leather. Relax with DVDs or Blu-Rays on the flat screen and player.

The sun room overlooking the secluded wooded back yard is the perfect spot for quiet conversation or a good book. One couch pulls out to a comfy queen size bed for extra sleeping.

Laundry is conveniently located on the main floor as well as four piece bath.

Two queen size bedrooms complete this level, one with a two piece ensuite.

Take the stairs down or reach the walkout level from the pretty flagstone patio. Relax in the casual family room with cozy gas fireplace, flat screen TV with DVD/Blu-Ray player. This level has a 4 piece bath and a third bedroom with a queen size bed. The 4th bedroom is perfect for PJ parties with 2 double beds and double futon mattress.

Spring of 2017 will bring a few more improvements and renovations just in time for the summer season.

You'll find plenty of room for 2 families in this child and pet friendly home!

“Wonderful time!”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

The cottage was much more than we expected. Clean, spacious, dog friendly and air conditioned! We were able to exercise by walking through the beautiful wooded subdivision that felt like a park. The beach was just a short walk away and not at all crowded, and the water was warm. Of course Grand Bend is close with shopping, restaurants and a grocery store near. The kitchen, just remodeled, was as a gourmet kitchen, all cooking utensils needed were provided. Spent many nights all snuggled in the front room watching movies as we were too tired to venture out in the evening. Also loved the back deck for barbecues and restful sunning and reading. We have already booked the cottage for next year.

Owner's reply: Thank you Suzie for your thoughtful and descriptive review. It is lovely to host guests who appreciate and respect the beauty and peace that can be found right here along the Lake Huron Shore. Thank you too for your reservation for Summer 2017. Fantastic!

“Beautiful Cottage”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2016

Cottage was very clean upon arrival and was an absolute pleasure to stay in. Jane was great with our check in etc and provided more than enough detail on the area and highlights of the cottage. Very private with 2 nice decks and multiple outdoor stations to relax! Great BBQ and amazing kitchen. We will rent again for sure. Enjoy

Owner's reply: Thanks so much Shayne! So happy you and your party had a great stay. Hope to see you back soon.

“Great Weekend Retreat”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2015

We are a group of women who have canoed and camped over the years but some cannot partake in rugged experiences any longer. So, we found this great home in which to continue our adventures. This home boasts room for 10 people with wonderful privacy. As well, there is a deck for 5 pm drinks and hors d'ouevres no matter what the weather. Imagine two fire places to gather by. The kitchen and dining room are wonderful places for cooking and gathering. The wine cooler is a treat. The property managers were wonderful, answering our questions and coming when the lower fire place did not function during the cold spell of weather, The owners are warm and welcoming. We truly appreciated the support when needed and the welcoming spirit when we chose this cottage. This is a wonderful place to have a vacation.

Owner's reply: It was a pleasure to host this spirited group of women at our family home - especially during a very snowy and cold weekend! We wish we could have been there to greet you in person, but happy that with the support of our property manager you all had a great weekend. As relatively new vacation home owners we welcome all your suggestions and comments and hope that everyone enjoys our cottage as much as we do. Thank you again and best of luck on your next adventure!
