Description from owner

This is a home that was built in 1928 with the look of an European Castle thus it is known in the area as The Castle. This home was at one time, a bed and breakfast. Owners currently reside on the third floor of the home which is a completly separate area from where renters stay and enjoy. However, we do share the grounds. The location has a great view of the city of Grand Haven, the channel as well as a million dollar view of Lake Michigan.

This home has 4 bedrooms, three having their own full bathroom, shared bathroom for one of the bedrooms, 2 rooms with twin beds, one room with a twin and 2 rooms with queen size beds. Also has a complete kitchen area that is open to a gathering room/dining room. This kitchen is equipped with all the necessities for making meals. There are two dining areas for your convenience as well as accommodations for outside eating. Making it easy for those staying here is also a laundry room with two washers, two dryers, iron/iron board, soaking sink and extra linens. Provided for you will be bedding, towels however, you will need to bring your own beach towels, beach chairs, coolers etc. There is a deck with tables and chairs for your enjoyment of the views as well as a screened in porch located on the same deck. A CHARCOAL GRILL and a GAS GRILL is also available for your convenience.

There is free Wi-Fi, Cable TV located in the main floor gathering room.

It is located above the Grand Haven State Park, on a hill called by the locals 5 Mile Hill as on a clear day you can see 5 miles out over the great Lake of Michigan. Also within walking distance of downtown, which has a number of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops and retail stores of a diversified variety.

Also close to the pier and boardwalk that takes you from downtown to the end of the pier and visa-versa!! Not only a bit of exercise but gorgeous views of boats, sunsets and meeting people!!

This home is also NOT equipped for CHILDREN UNDER 5 as there are no cribs available THERE IS REALLY NO PLAY AREA!!. The property consists of stairs, hills, quiet woods behind the home but unfortunately none of this lends to having a real play area for young children.

THIS HOME HAS A ONE WEEK MINIMUM STAY. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO MORE THEN 8 PEOPLE. ALSO MUST BE 25 YEARS OLD OR OLDER TO RENT HOME.

THE HOMEOWNERS DO OCCUPY THE THIRD FLOOR OF HOME!!

Beds: 2 Queen Beds, 6 Twin Beds

About the area

The area is surrounded by Holland, Michigan which also has a wonderful downtown area and the largest Tulip Festival in the month of May. Also, just a short drive south of Holland is the city of Saugatuck which in this past year was voted "The Best Tourist Town" in the country!! Again, great beaches, awesome shopping with outstanding art galleries, boating, entertainment. Both of these cities are located just a short drive south of beautiful Grand Haven. Downtown Grand Haven is filled with wonderful small boutiques, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, a variety of restaurants, farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Within view of the guest house, walking distance is Grand Haven's incredible beach. Has a snack pavilion, other food stands, fly your kites just enjoy one of the wonderful fresh waters of Lake Michigan. Also enjoy a stroll on the board walk that takes you from the lighthouse to downtown Grand Haven and along that stroll enjoy the many boats and ships coming in and out of the channel. North of Grand Haven there is dune buggy riding, more quaint cities to visit all within again, a short drive. The last week of July and the first week of August, in Grand Haven, is the largest celebration of the Coast Guard, "Coast Guard Festival". This is a time when thousands of people come to our city, known as "Coast Guard City USA", to enjoy concerts, carnival, art shows, parades and ending with one of the largest fireworks displays in Western Michigan, which can been seen from the roof top of The Castle, one of the best views in the city to watch them from!!! A great time for all, both young and old!! The Grand Haven State park is located at the end of Prospect Street, also the boardwalk along the channel is easily accessible, skate boarding, tennis courts, miniature golf, ice cream shops, coffee shops, restaurants and much more are ALL within walking distance from our home. Bilmar Restaurant, Snug Harbor, Tip-a Few, Kirby Grill, Kirby, Toasted Pickle, Grand, Deelite and if you check the Grand Haven Chamber you will find so much more not only on restaurants but on activities etc.
