Description of the Grass Valley vacation home rental
Large lodge/craftsman style ranch home with guest house on 121 gated and secluded acres. These luxury homes sit on lushly landscaped grounds next to a private lake teaming with largemouth bass. The homes are constructed with cedar siding, ruff sawn timbers with open beams, granite columns and counters, hardwood and terracotta tile floors, and hand trolled texturing. They are built with an open design ideal for entertaining or large family gatherings.

The main house has a large gourmet kitchen, great room with large stone fireplace, formal and casual dining rooms, theater, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, workout room, 2 laundry rooms and loft. It can sleep 13 comfortably. Windows abound and most rooms have a spectacular view of the lake and wildlife on the property including a private herd of Fallow deer. There are additional fireplaces in the kitchen/casual dining room and master bedroom. The home has radiant floor heat and 3 zone central air conditioning all powered by solar panels and heat exchange technology.

The guest house has a small kitchen, wood burning stove and 3 bedrooms to comfortably sleep 6 with loft space for more sleeping bags. There are 2 bathrooms and a laundry room. Central heat and air conditioning keep guests comfortable year round.

The beautiful landscaping is expertly maintained. A very large lawn extends down to the water's edge and provides ample room for events, games, camping, or just lounging. A dock with boats and paddle boards for fishing, rowing, or romantic tours of the lake await. There is a large stone patio with gas BBQ overlooking the backyard and lake and a swimming pool for the summer season and a hot tub for year round relaxation.

This is an active ranch where restaurant grade venison is raised from grass fed Fallow Deer. The deer are not tame but can be viewed in the early mornings and in the evenings when they active. Because they roam freely on the property, it is important to always close gates behind you as you explore the ranch.

The property is very quiet and private. It is perfect for those looking to unwind while sipping wine on the dock or patio watching the beautiful sunsets and wildlife. It's also ideal for families and corporate events and for those wanting to access all the outdoor recreation Nevada County has to offer.

The center of recreation on the ranch is our lake. Fly or spin cast fishing for largemouth bass on either the main lake or the more secluded pond on the lower property can be thrilling. Main lake fishing from boat, shore, dock, or float tube provide opportunities for beginning to expert fisherman. Pond fishing is best suited for float tube fisherman interested in trophy fly fishing for bass. Spin cast and fly fishing lessons are available from Ed. He is also available to guide fishing on the property for beginners to experts who want to know the hot fishing spots and best fishing methods on the lake and pond.
Walking trails, seasonal blackberry picking and bird watching are also just out the back door for those interested in other outdoor activities on the ranch.
Nevada County is also well known for its mountain and road biking options and has been a part of the Tour of California professional tour for several years. Guided bike trips are available from an expert local rider who is happy showing casual or expert riders the area.

Small wineries abound in the area. One of the best known is Naggiar Vineyards which is only a few minutes from the ranch. They offer free music and dancing in a beautiful outdoor venue on Friday and Saturday nights. Small dishes of tasty food are available along with wine tasting. Wine tours are a great way to see the county and try other local wines.

Starbucks, El Agave Mexican Restaurant, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Northridge Pizza, CVS Pharmacy, and a Chevron station are all less than 20 minutes from the ranch. Full sized grocery stores and numerous other restaurants and shopping are 30 minutes away in either Auburn or Grass Valley/Nevada City.

Assistance is only a phone call away. Ed, the property manager, lives adjacent to the ranch and is available 24 hours during your stay.
