Description from owner

Drive through maple and pine trees 1/3 mile up the private Singing Brook Trail to Sky Mountain Log Cabin. Wildlife all around. No neighbors in view. Smell the natural wood when entering the cabin. Sit in the family room, master bedroom or deck and view the hollow with green grass and stream (seasonal) and hiking trails. Enjoy the hot tub under the stars and moonlight. Plenty of hiking and walking trails on property and a nice mountain bike trail. Only two miles north of Cacapon State Park (Cacapon Resort).

About the area

Less than two miles from Baltimore and Washington, DC and three hours from Pittsburgh, Berkeley Springs is a sleepy town which borders Maryland to the north and east, Pennsylvania to the north and Virginia on the south. Berkeley Springs is the place of the first Spa in the country with it's mineral waters always flowing out of the mountains at 70 degrees. Excellent place for recreation regardless of your age. Golf, swimming, horseback riding, biking along the C & O Canal and kayaking on the Cacapon and Potomac Rivers. The Berkeley Springs area boasts about it's great stream fishing. Berkeley Springs has restaurants to suit all pallets --from the very basic roast beef and whipped potatoes to burger joints with home made potato chips to organic meals to fine 5-star dining. Very reasonable rates. History is abounding in and around Berkeley Springs and the Town of Bath. The area attracted Indians from the St. Lawrence Seaway in Canada and the Great Lakes to the Carolinas. In 1730, the first European settlers learned from the Indians the value of the springs and eventually those throughout the settlements of the east followed. The town was first surveyed by George Washington and today, there are celebrations in recognition of that history.

“25th Anniversary”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2015

This is my idea of camping -- a 3 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, home with air conditioning, a fireplace, kitchen, two dining areas, and an outdoor Jacuzzi in the woods, far enough from other people to be a great anniversary retreat. Very soft sheets, a great view of the deer in the daytime and stars in the evening (including a meteor shower). Amazingly, very few bugs. This place was luxurious and romantic, yet conveniently close to Berkeley Springs, Winchester VA, and more. We hope to be back in the future.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for your great review. We hope you will return sometime real soon. Jackie

“Sweet cottage ina great location”

Reviewed 22 May 2013

Four friends stayed at the cottage in the beginning of May. It is not large, but easily accomodated us. The cottage feels new and clean, with a lovely outdoor deck and hot tub--which was great-in very private surroundings. It is a quick drive into either the town of Berkeley Springs or to the nearby state park. Everything is comfortable. The ktichen is compact, but we did not come to cook! We did breakfast and one dinner there with no problem. All in all, a very positive experience. I would say that you should arrive in daylight the first time if possible, as it may be a bit difficult to find in the dark.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your nice review. I'm glad you enjoyed my Sky Mountain Cabin. I will make my directions more elaborate and appreciate your input. I hope to see you return real soon.

“A comfortable well-stocked cabin”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2012

This was an excellent cabin. Very well furnishes with a great porch nestled in the woods. Only two hours from DC, this is a perfect place to steal away for a weekend. There is amazing running on the ridge top and the hiking was great. The kitchen was well stocked even to satisfy a former chef. I'll be back.

“great weekend getaway”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2011

very pleased with the cabin, although the back deck could have had more comfortable seating and a table to eat from.....the pillows and the mattresses should have had protective/ allergy coverings.
