Description of the Green Lake vacation home rental
The Green Lake House is a 3200+sqft year-round house on Green Lake in Dedham, Maine. The property is less than a half hour from Bangor(and Bangor International Airport), less than a half hour from Ellsworth, and less than an hour from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. For a longer drive(over an hour), you can check out Camden and midcoast Maine.

The property is located in an ideal setting, sitting on a point at the end of a peninsula with a southern exposure and lake frontage on two sides of the house, and lake views on three sides of the house. The house sits only feet from the water separated only by a private beach and flower beds.

This two story house has been a year-round residence. Some highlights include a huge dock, decks, air conditioning units, huge picture windows through-out, and a huge glass room next to the beach and water.

Green Lake is a very clean deep water lake with a maximum depth of 180 feet. Fish include Lake Trout(Togue), Salmon, Small Mouth Bass, Perch, and others. Green Lake is also a good sized lake(over 7 miles long) with plenty of areas to explore by boat.

This property is available summer, spring, fall, and winter for all types of year-round activities.

Hi My family booked this house for 9 days. We arrived to a dirty unkept house. Carpets were stained badly in all rooms! The kitchen had mouse droppings and the fridge had old food rotting. There were bowls full of cigarette butts. There is no satellite tv as advertised. The docks was completely broken and we could not moor a boat as planned. The house was unlockable. Two bedrooms have no windows and a third is inhabitable as it opens on to a conservatory that leaks water. The electrics were unsafe and dangerous. We found out that the man who owns this property uses two names Brian Hunt and Brian Harp! We asked for our money back and are still waiting We reported the state of the property to Dedham town office and Elesworth chamber of commerce. Both were shocked at the pictures we showed. We feel that this property should be taken off this website.

As a rental booking agent for a real estate office in Maine I know what a "rent ready" house is. This rental was anything but. The expectation, for $1000 for a 3 night get away over a holiday weekend, was for a home/cottage that would be clean, well appointed and inviting. The only things about this rental that were tolerable were the company and the view. I do not know when the pictures of this rental were taken, but they did not reflect the state of the house at the time of our lease. The kitchen was appalling, not at all ready for daily use, with mouse droppings and mold abounding. The bathrooms had stains in the sinks, hair on the floors and counters and the toilets had not been cleaned for some time. One of the bedrooms was swarmed with both live and dead flies (in November). When our children were playing in the master suite above the living room, we could clearly see the ceiling flex at least two inches from below - a major safety issue which precluded us from using that room for the duration. The carpets in all rooms were stained, and the couch was leaking stuffing. We left a day before our contract ended because we could not stand it another minute. When we contacted the rental company with our concerns before we posted a review, we received no response. A simple apology and genuine remorse would have done, but apparently the money received and spent assuaged any remorse they may have felt.

I wish to thank the owners for having such a wonderful house, the views where AWESOME from every room. A must do again. You also need to rent a boat and see the whole lake. A campfire at night and a warm drink will end a perfect day....Thanks again....LOVED IT,...

Where to start!The view was beautiful, the house huge.40 min to a store.almost 3ft drop from cement to dock,no beach area,curtains rods broken,towel rods broken,shower leaks onto dining room table,sunroom leaks big time, decks old and filthy, curtains dirty,blinds broken,dirty carpets,dryer knob broken,washer does not wring out,musty and moldy smelling, huge water stains dining room and sun room, place needs a real good cleaning, it is campy not kept up at all it seems,kinda sad could be anice place,owner should do repairs, care, add a sand beach,very high off water and rockystove is slow cooking. stairs into sunporch high stepping, steps into hall high stepping

My family and i spent a White Christmas 2009 here.The house was amazing.Beautiful spot on the lakeside..We were somewhat disappointed in the lack of up keep,(Oven did not work, we were not notified.Imagine Christmas without Roast Turkey..spent 3 hrs cleaning upon arrival.)..Maybe it was the time of year.

The owner of this home is a fraud and will not return your deposit. He has done this to many people and will continue as long as people are renting this property. Also the home is not that nice and not worth the many he is charging!!! Do not rent this property

The owner did not return the security deposit. He refuses to respond to attempts to contact him regarding the return of our $500 deposit. BE AWARE THAT YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR DEPOSIT. I am in the process of filing a lawsuit against him for this. House is awesome, except for the mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers and cabinets. It is BEAUTIFUL setting. NIGHTMARE trying to get the deposit back even when we left the property cleaner and in better shape than when we got there.

AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 2011 SEASON, WE TOOK GREAT CARE TO MAKE REPAIRS TO THE HOUSE TO RESPOND TO PAST RENTER COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS. UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE HAD A BAD REVIEW POSTED BY A RENTER THIS SEASON BECAUSE WE REFUSED TO LET THEM OUT OF THE LEASE AFTER THEY FOUND ANOTHER RENTAL, AND IN FACT THE RENTERS WHO POSTED THIS REVIEW CAUSED DAMAGE IN RETALIATION. WE MADE THE REPAIRS. REGARDING THE CARPETS...THEY DO HAVE STAINS ON THEM FROM PAST RENTER ABUSE, BUT THEY ARE CLEAN AND SHAMPOOED REGULARLY. SINCE THIS PROPERTY ALLOWS DOGS, THE OWNER IS NOT ANXIOUS TO REPLACE ALL CARPETING. ALL OTHER MAINTENANCE ITEMS ARE ATTENDED TO...THE DOCK IS IN, BROKEN BLINDS ARE REPLACED, EVERYTHING IS WORKING.
