Area Information
As you leave the endless traffic lights, strip malls and Wal-Marts behind, you will travel thru lightly populated rural Maine to Greenville. Once here you are now in a small outpost town at the edge of the 'Great North Woods'. It is different here; small shops, plaid flannel shirt diners and a couple of wilderness outfitters. Around you are Maine's largest lakes and numerous smaller ponds along with the headwaters of several notable rivers including the Allagash. Mt. Katahdin, just to our north, anchors the northern end of the Appalachian Mtn. chain. Surrounding you are several million acres of working forests, home to the 'American Loggers'. The only traffic jams here are for moose sightings. And this is a recreational wonderland; canoeing/kayaking, white water rafting, hiking, climbing, ATV and snowmobile trails, not to mention fishing, hunting and wildlife viewing.

This is truly a home away from home, and beautiful and cozy as well. Pat and Dave are wonderful hosts and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay there. It is really hard to find nice accommodations for my husband who is in a wheelchair, so it was especially nice that it was so easy for him to get around, even had a ramp so he could get to the dock! Also, close to town, so fishing and dining were close by and the shops in Greenville were so cute. We enjoyed our stay there so much we are talking about when we can get up there again. I would recommend this cottage to everyone I know!

My Response
Thank you for your review. That we were able to accommodate you and your husband easily is why we built this lovely cottage. I read your guest book comments as well, you both had a busy time while here, fishing and relaxing. I'm always in awe of the very professional services our "Maine Guides" provide that you experienced first hand. Dave

We had a wonderful stay at this lakefront home. Everything is as described and leaves nothing to be desired. I would really recommend this rental to anyone wishing to explore the area around Greenville and Moosehead Lake. A special bonus was the dock and the complimentary use of canoes. Pat and David were very helpful. Thanks again for sharing your vacation rental.

My Response
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We would be remiss if we didn't encourage our guests to explore the 11 miles of pristine shore frontage ,10 miles of which can never be built on, around this spectacular mountain pond. As we expand our fleet of complimentary canoes we have added 1 and 2-up kayaks at each cottage for the enjoyment of the whole family. You will also see us on the pond quite often exploring, watching for wildlife, and taking in the sunsets as well. Pat and Dave

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: By far, the most common question guests ask is: Where can we find a moose?
A: Having lived in the area for 20+ years we have seen the frequent comings and goings of this beautiful animal. To make your quest easier we have written a brochure on the subject called "Moose Sighting 101". To go with that we have also written a guide to the many back roads where these critters can be found called "Dave's Drives" These guides will be in your cottage when you arrive.
Q: What family activities do you recommend?
A: First, just head down to the dock, paddle the canoe and kayaks around the pond looking for wildlife, go fishing with the kids, watch the sun come up..
Hiking trails on site, and many more hikes of various difficulty outlined in the brochure in the cottage.
Waterfalls: Moxie, Gulf Hagas, Big and Little Wilson, Toby, and several more.
Steamship Katahdin for the "3-hour tour", Shuttle boat to Kineo, then climb to the fire tower.
A scenic flight at Currier's - see the big lake, Mt. Katahdin and more.
