Description of the Gregory Town vacation home rental
Completed in 2014 Cloudbreak is a two story, two bedroom, two bath home which is fully air conditioned. The upstairs has the feeling of floating in the clouds with unsurpassed views of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean from every room. Screened French doors allow the soft breezes to flow through out the house bringing the outside in. We are on top of the hill over looking Surfer's Beach with nature trails to be explored in every direction. The downstairs has a cool retro surf vibe. It is a fully appointed studio with a porch that blends into the garden. A great place to listen to the daily chorus of bird song. The downstairs kitchen has modern appliances including dishwasher. The inside full bath with walk in shower leads directly to the outside shower area. The downstairs also has it's own washer and dryer. The inside stairwell with vaulted open beam ceiling leads to the back porch of the upstairs. The upstairs is a one bedroom, one bath with open living room. Our open beam high ceilings continue with natural cypress keeping it bright and airy. The upstairs has front and rear porches for viewing sunrise and sunset. The upstairs kitchen has modern appliances including dishwasher, washer and dryer. It also has a large bathroom with walk in shower done in lime, blue and white which leads to the master bedroom. We have tropical inspired glass tile work in our kitchens and bathrooms. Our floors are a turquoise stained concrete to give you a feeling of walking on water. We have designed our home to be explorer, surfer, snorkeler and fisherman friendly. We have plenty of porches for lounging, storing and rinsing whatever beach gear you may have. The upstairs or downstairs can be rented separately depending on your needs and price range.

Area Information
Cloudbreak is located on the highest point at Surfer's Beach, Eleuthera Island Shores. The first floor is 194' above sea level which allows a view of the local flora and fauna. From the Second floor porches you have a 360 degree view of the Island, a true ocean view. Sunrise and Sunset is a daily experience. Cool breezes and stunning views of the colorful Atlantic Ocean are on one side and on the other side Exuma Sound. This local enclave is the closets residential neighborhood to Surfers Beach. A wonderful reef break known to be one of the most fun and consistent breaking waves in all of the Bahamas. Some surfers describe it as a perfect left. Do not despair if surfing is not your thing. When the waves lay down the swimming and snorkeling are exceptional. Not to mention the shear beauty of the rolling pink sand beach. Cloudbreak Bahamas will transport you to the ideal beach adventure or romantic get away that you have been dreaming of. This wonderful beach is a 15 minute walk on nature trails.

What makes us different:

Eleuthera Island Shores is an eclectic community of musicians, artists, expats and local Bahamians. You can rent a board from a local surf school down the street. The labyrinth of walking trails out your front door will always let you experience nature at its best. Surfer's Beach is a great place to start but Holiday Beach, Hatchet Bay and James Cistern also offer some world class surfing within a 20 minute drive. Fishing is a big draw to the island. Both pole fishing and spear fishing can be done at Surfer's or off any beach that you may find down any road off of Queen's Highway. Eleuthera is the place if you love gin clear blue water, deserted beaches, unusual views and vistas and crazy beach combing. It is not the place for night life, gambling, or fancy bars. Our home is a place to unplug from the modern world.

What's available from the locals:

Gregory Town which is three miles from our home has two groceries, two gas/fuel stations, several snack shops, two liquor stores and the following restaurants: The Laughing Lizard (lunch), Unca Gene's Bar and Restaurant, Daddy Joe's, and the Cove when you feel like spending some money. Surfboards can be rented from Rebeca's Straw market from Pony Tail Pete or Tom Glucksman at Surfers Haven. There are also some good eats at the Rainbow Inn in Rainbow Bay and down further in James Cistern at Kel D's. There is always something for everyone except fast food.

During the first week in June you have the Pineapple Festival and Pineapplthon in Gregory Town. For a great Day Trip you can catch a water taxi to either Harbour Island or Spanish Wells. The 'Bat Caves' are a mile away from our home on Queen's Highway for great spelunking. Eleuthera Is. Organics is opening a farmers market in Gregory Town for fresh produce. Fresh fish can be found at many of the docks through out the island. The Levi Botanical Garden is a must in Governor's Harbor along with the Friday night fish fry. The Lighthouse point is an all day adventure that should not be missed. Along the way don't forget to stop in at Ocean Hole in Rock Sound. On all of your adventures never, never forget your snorkeling gear, a beach and reef are always near. If you need to rent snorkeling gear see Mr. Pete in Gregory Town.

Fantastic Home + Owners!!

January 6, 2016

We loved this home! We stayed almost 3-seeks. Unlike most Bahamian homes, this newly built house is air tight. So, there are no mosquitos, flies or cockroaches inside. The AC, power and water are wonderful and reliable. The view is simply stunning. At the highest elevation on Eleuthera, you can see 360-degrees north & south and along the whole Atlantic & Caribbean coastlines. We picked papayas from the garden and ate them for breakfast. We played guitars with the next door neighbor. And we drove everywhere from this home base. Driving at night on Eleuthera can be scary as the roads are thin. And folks sometimes don't dim their bright lights. It's lawful to drink and drive. But there are plenty places to eat and drink nearby. And the Bahamians are very friendly and welcoming people. Owners Tom and Maureen are a dream! You will love this house;)

We were on the go the whole time and it felt great to come back to a beautiful porch with an awesome view. Every window you look out of makes you go Wow!! Tom and Maureen were extremely helpful and not sure our trip would have been so successful without their help. I highly recommend the Cloudbreak and wish I was still there.

We spent 6 amazing days at Cloudbreak. The home is very well built, very well appointed and very comfortable with all the comforts of home. The views are amazing and the locale is colorful and diverse. Surfers beach is a short drive/walk away and is beautiful. The location on the hill allows for wonderful breezes and vistas. The owners have spared no expense in creating a perfect getaway on Eleuthera.

We spent 4 nights at Cloudbreak and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. We rented the entire house but spent most of our time on the top floor overlooking both sides of the island: Caribbean & Atlantic. Designed with an eye for form following function, the home is a pleasure to use and admire. Clearly built with an obsession for detail, Cloudbreak allows one to relax with the comforts of home in a secluded paradise. From the color palette to the high end appliances, you will likely wish you could stay longer and enjoy. A relatively short drive from ELH, the home is situated in one of the best (if not the best) hilltops on the island. Amazing sunrises and sunsets. An easy walk to the beach. Great equipment available for biking or spending time in the water. We were looking for property on the island and came away with a clear goal: copy Cloudbreak. You won't be disappointed!

Cloudbreak was an amazing vacation accommodation. Walking into this house was like walking into a beautiful dream, and set the mood for our entire experience. The location is quiet and remote feeling, yet there are some helpful and friendly neighbors. Being on a hilltop, you are able to see both the carribean and atlantic ocean, and long views up and down the island! Felt like queen of the island! Also the position of the house conveniently catches breezes from any direction, thus keeping the temperature comfortable and the few no-see-ums at bay. The house is newly built and tastefully decorated in island fashion. Tom and Maureen thought of everything, no skimping in this rental! ... the kitchen, fully loaded with everything you could want to cook meals and keep life simple, including a dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, blender, full sets of beautiful dishes, etc, etc. The bedroom... from the comfortable bed you can look out the windows and glass doors and see the ocean, hear the birds and waves. The bathroom is light, airy and the shower has fun sparkly tiles! The living room... comfortable furniture with good hang out space, music, and a great collection of books. There are wide balconies on both sides of the house(east and west) with awesome lounge chairs. You never have to miss a sunrise or sunset, OR the full moon rising right after the sunset. And of course Mr. Gibson, the caretaker, did take great care of us! He is a kind man. He checked in on us and was available, while also respecting our privacy. Writing this is making me miss Eleuthra even more! We hope to go back and of course stay at Cloudbreak. Thankyou, Jodi and Melissa from California

The house is breathtaking. It is exactly what I dream of when I think of an ideal tropical home. I love the location atop the small mountain-like hill. We stayed in the upstairs unit. While no one else was there while we were, I couldn't imagine it being invasive or an issue if there was another party staying there. Upstairs on the porches and the views alone you can stay in tune with winds and sea conditions all day long. If you love being up at sunrise and attentive for sunset, look no further than this home. The amenities are wonderful from the kitchen supplies to the mountain bikes. The beach is about a 10 min walk and very peaceful. I never meet the direct neighbors to this home but I hear they are great. It was a very relaxing experience and I really felt like I had discovered my own paradise. If it is windy and or sunny on one side just go to the other for a change in elements. I hope to return next year with some family members and rent the entire home. Thanks Tom and Maureen, you were great to us throughout the whole experience!

This was our first trip to the Bahamas and we really liked the house. It was well appointed New house with anything needed for cooking. Wonderful decks for water views for all times of the day. Very close to Sugar Apple , our favorite place to eat and listen to music. We toured the island and Harbor Island each day, went bone fishing , and watched the surfers with our rental car . But we happy to return to Cloudbreak very evening for a glass of wine enjoying the sunsets over the water.

Our family spends the Christmas Holiday's every year in Eleuthera. Over the years we have rents several homes and Cloudbreak was simply amazing. In years past we rented 2-3 local places to stay to accommodate everyone comfortably. This year we all stayed under one roof... very comfortably :) The owners have thought of everything... and if it is not there they will get it. Cloudbreak sits on top of the highest point in the area and has sweeping views of the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean. The Sugar Apple restaurant and bar (a 3 block walk) is the islands best nightlife and the food is delicious and reasonable. It is a short walk to Surfers beach where some of the islands best waves are, a long empty beach, and a cove for good shelling and sea glass hunting. Don't look any further.. seriously... this IS the place you need to be...
