Description from owner

Indian Cove cottage on private road with two sandy beaches, boat dock and swimming raft. Kayak, swim, sail, fish, clam, bike, hike. Friendly community where families have come for generations. Great place to let kids roam on bikes (15 mph speed limit.)

Big-sky view of the Long Island Sound. Watch from the deck as the osprey soar overhead and dive for fish. Walk on the beach in the moonlight with the lighthouse from Faulkner's Island twinkling in the distance.

Large new deck with gas bbq, retractable awning and pots of flowers. Bamboo floors throughout, new tempurpedic mattresses, newly remodeled kitchen with dishwasher, bedrooms and bathroom. WI-Fi, cable TV, 2 bikes and kayaks (two sea kayaks and one small kayak that can be launched from the beach).

There are fresh herbs and tomatoes (later in the season) available for your use. Large picnic table on the deck seats 8.

We have tried to equip the house with all the things we'd like to have in a vacation house: Le Creusset pots, sharp knives, plenty of good quality dishes, nice table linens, 2 Brown Jordon chaise lounges, new Tempurpedic mattresses, comfortable linens and pillows.

“Watching the tides”

"Magnificently located quaint beach cottage supplying everything that we needed. The cottage is well equipped and perfect for a family of four that enjoys the outdoors, especially the beach. The deck offers the ideal setting to entertain guests while taking in a waterfront view of the sunset. Enjoy taking outdoor showers in a spacious wooden shower. The owner is very friendly, quick to respond and always available to answer questions."

We had a wonderful week in this beach house in Indian Cove. It fulfilled all our needs for a great holiday; it is close to New Haven, where we have family, very comfortable and well equipped and, most importantly, in a beautiful location overlooking the water. The private beach is a great swimming spot and just two minutes walk away. The area is quiet and relaxed. It is a short and very pleasant bike ride into Guilford or to the ferry to the Thimble Islands. We were a party of four adults but it would be a wonderful location also for children. Judy was most accommodating and, circumstances permitting, we would love to return.

“terrific rental”

We stayed 2 weeks and just loved the cottage; we already rebooked for next year. Bright and airy interior with attractive, simple, comfortable furnishings and very well equipped kitchen. Plenty of good books and videos. Great 270 degree view of sky and water from inside or out on the deck. Neighborhood is quiet and neighbors friendly.

Sweet cottage with sparkling views!

What a lovely spot! The cottage is steps away from a lovely private swimming beach, and is situated in a quiet, gentle neighborhood where walking or biking is a joy. But you don't even have to leave the deck of the cottage to enjoy a perfect vacation by the ocean. The cottage is bright, airy, and very thoughtfully equipped. Town is a ten minute car ride with a great market, and some special restaurants and shops. The property owners are friendly, responsive and considerate. I recommend this to anyone who loves beaches, nature, walking, biking, boating, reading, eating, and getting a good night's sleep. Deborah S.

It was a wonderful week. The house is very comfortable and quickly felt like home. We loved the comfy beds, clean and spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchen, spectacular water views, grilling on the deck, setting the table with linens, grandma's silver and those beautiful pink peonies. It was a great place to relax and rest. Looking forward to our return.

Even prettier than it appears online!

The online information is accurate but when I walked in, I realized that the online photos don't do it justice. Modern, comfy seating with tasteful and cheerful color scheme. Nice kitchen with any utensil you might need to cook on the BBQ as well as visit the many nice restaurants in town. Great private beach at low and high tide. I enjoyed the swimming while my husband kayaked. Quiet mornings. Pretty bedrooms. Excellent hot/cold outdoor shower we preferred as come in back after the beach. Great views. Good customer service from Judy. Would recommend to a friend and return.

My "home" in Indian Cove
Date of Stay

Judy and Richard Davies' lovely cottage is a perfect place to enjoy all that Guilford and the Connecticut shoreline have to offer. Unique to this cottage: I have never stayed at a place where I can settle in and within minutes everything that I need is at my fingertips. The kitchen, for example, is stocked with the same high-end equipment that I have at home so cooking for just the two of us or for a crowd is a breeze. The beds, similarly, are comfortable and getting a good night's sleep is easy. The cottage is spacious so it is easy to welcome visiting family. Every amenity (wifi, workspace, good books, cable TV for husbands who like to keep up with sports) is at hand. Indian Cove is a special area of Guilford. Long walks are easily at hand, there are beaches and birds, bikes and kayaks. One can't help but enjoy the osprey as they fly by clutching their fresh catch from the sea. A memorable time that won't soon be forgotten.

This house is beautiful and a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday. Everything is of a very good quality and it was immaculate for our arrival. The decking and views from the decking are idyllic and after a day out and about it was perfect to sit out with a glass of wine and cook on the great bar-b-que. Judy is excellent to deal with and nothing is too much trouble. If we return to Connecticut I will derfinitely stay at this house again and will recommend it to all our friends. Fantastic holiday.

We have rented this cottage for three years. It's such an idyllic getaway that we can't help ourselves! It is nicely decorated, comfortable, homey, clean, and well equipped. We love having the kayaks available for interesting rides along the shore and exploring. It's a great neighborhood for walking and the sunsets and views of the sound from the oversize deck (with a great awning) are spectacular.

The location and water views were perfect. All of the home appointments were above average, and complete with any potential need anticipated. The town and surrounding communities were charming and the people welcoming. The prize however, were the fantastic views, and we look forward to returning.

"Recently rented this wonderful beach cottage for one week. Great water views, spacious open floor plan in living area with lots of windows/skylights ... comfortable, tastefully decorated. Short walk to two beaches. Lots to see and do in Guilford and surrounding areas. Plan to return next year for a longer stay. Had been going to Maine for many years and was looking for a rental that was closer to home, yet felt like Maine ... this definitely had that feeling. Highly recommend."

Whether you are there to finish writing that book, spend the last weekend alone before the arrival of your first child, or are just looking for a cozy place to curl up in front of a fire with a good book from the extensive library -- this is the place for you. We were there for all of the above and loved it. The place has a lovely master bedroom and superbly appointed living room, a well stocked kitchen (and library), a wrap-around porch and open views of the water. A car is advisable if you want to get around town quickly, but we made it there without one -- without problem. It makes for an even more relaxing experience. The house is a quick 15 min/$15 cab ride (or a leisurely hour's walk) from Guilford train station/downtown. A public beach is a quick 3 min walk up the street. Downtown Guilford has a couple good coffee stores and a handful of shops and restaurants (which also deliver). The owners are always on call, and the neighbors are just far enough to make for a secluded experience -- and close enough to hand-deliver additional firewood should you run out. Highly recommended!
