Description of the Haena vacation cottage rental
The Papaya Tree Studio is a cozy two level vacation unit perfect for honeymoon couples or others who wish to vacation in paradise on the North Shore of Kaua'i at a very reasonable price. The studio is bright and cheery with sunlight throughout the interior. The windows are all screened and face the pasture and mountains. It is close to the beach with a spectacular view of Bali Hai Mountain. The kitchenette on the first level has a full refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, rice cooker, glasses and cups; a small teak dining table and chairs, plus a lounge chair. All cooking utensils, dishes, pots and pans are included and a Weber Gas BBQ with side burner just outside the door is available to guests to make cooking virtually anything very convenient. On the second level, upstairs in the loft, is a king size bed, with two wall mounted reading lamps, a wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD player, clothes bureau, love seat with end table containing some books and videos. The private back yard of the cottage has a garden with lounge chairs and small table facing the pasture land and mountains. The papaya trees are fruit bearing as are banana trees on the property. This Studio is a great choice for people who want to be close to nature at the most affordable price possible.

Seclusion: This unique tropical island getaway is located on the North Shore of Kaua'i, in the country, yet only one block from a beautiful beach that stretches on leading you from one beach to another and finally to Ke'e Beach at the end of the road. The Papaya Tree Studio is a most affordable vacation destination complete with all essentials to make your vacation a pleasant and unforgettable experience. Guests can view the horses in the pasture directly behind the back yard giving a relaxing and peaceful view from any of the windows in the Papaya Tree Studio. Enjoy the birds and wildlife while sitting in the back yard lounge chairs.

To complete a unique island experience, our guests thoroughly enjoy the outdoor shower located in the back yard; it is completely private, the water is hot and the views are spectacular.

Activities: Whether you wish to swim in crystal clear 80 degree water, snorkel, scuba, kayak, zip line, take a helicopter ride, learn to surf by qualified Hawaiian surf instructors, explore caves, hike the Kalalau Trail beginning only 2-1/2 miles down the road, leisurely stroll through a world class botanical garden at Limahuli, or take a boat trip down the Napali Coast, eat dinner at a gourmet restaurant on the ocean just a five minute walk away, see a luau, all this is in the neighborhood, or less than a 10 minute drive away. Or, if you just wish to do nothing but sit on a quiet beach with a terrific summer book, just take a short level walk down the road and you are there.

Owners live on the property in a separate home as their primary residence and are available for your convenience.

Area Information
Some call it the Garden of Eden. The surrounding area is rural countryside. You will find banana, papaya, coconut, mango, guava trees growing wildly everywhere and beaches, hiking trails, ocean and mountains. However, the Papaya Tree Studio is located within a seven minute walk to one terrific restaurant: The Mediterranean Gourmet, with a luau show every Tuesday evening, a full bar, fine dining on the ocean, open for lunch and dinner. A coffee shop/gift store is next to the restaurant as well as Hanalei Day Spa Center. Many of our guests have commented that they enjoyed the best massage ever at the Hanalei Day Spa. This is a place to experience a real treat!

Hanalei Town is four miles away and just close enough - a ten minute drive to the farmers' market on Saturday or Tuesday. Hanalei has many fine local style restaurants, fish market, gift and clothing shops several surf shops and grocery store and one natural foods store. The town center is "Chin Young Village" - so very charming. Here you can stroll through art shops, kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, Napali Boat Tour company, bakery shop, shave ice, jewelry stores, restaurants, and many other small local businesses should you wish to "go to town" for an afternoon. Plan on Hanalei town folding up fairly early - before midnight usually; this is not the mainland where restaurants and bars remain open until the wee hours of the morning. For a very special local treat, while you are in Hanalei Town, stop in at Tahiti Nui for dinner or drinks. The food is great and the entertainment even better - this establishment has been operating for decades; the original owner "Aunty Louise" left her legendary hospitality at the establishment and it was featured in the movie "The Descendants" with George Clooney. It is a real "locals" place and everyone on the North Shore loves going there especially for the traditional Luau every Wednesday evening. "The Nui" has recently opened for breakfast and is also open for lunch.

Beaches: One cannot miss the experience of seeing, swimming, surfing, or snorkeling at Kaua'i's North Shore beaches. From Ke'e at the end of the road, to Tunnels, Lumahai (where the nurses in "South Pacific" washed that man right out of their hair) on into Hanalei Bay - one outstanding two mile stretch with spectacular mountains and waterfall views, then on to Hideaways at Princeville, Anini, Kalihiwai and Secret Beach. There are others as well that have Hawaiian names and are not always mentioned in the guide books. They are all close by, some of them have virtually no one on them so you can experience either the safety of a beach with life guards or go off on your own.
