We stayed here for 8 days during the end of June and first week of July. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The house was great, and the location was ideal. We had our two teenage sons with us, and thy loved it. We would definitely recommend the house and hope to return.

Heaven in Hawaii! (335876)

This property is absolute heaven! From the second we stepped into the house we felt at home and the views are simply breathtaking! Our 19 month old was in his element being able to roam freely and safely around the huge garden and down onto the sand to explore. The beach is perfect for kids as there's lots of little rock pools for them to splash around in. There were plenty of beach toys, snorkels, beach towels etc. Our bedroom on the top level was blissful with plenty of space, a comfy king size bed and a huge private deck which I enjoyed each morning whilst taking in the surrounds before the rest of the household woke up! For us the location was perfect. Easy drive into town and only a few minutes to Waimea Bay and Falls. A beautiful spot and worth a visit early to beat the crowds for stroll and a swim under the waterfalls. Also really handy to the local grocery store which helps with a bub! The "turtle traffic" as we called it due to everyone stopping at the "turtle beach", was a bit annoying in the middle of the day but it's unavoidable staying anywhere north of town really…. at least we got to witness beautiful sea turtles lazing on the sand every time we slowly drove past. We ate at at the house most evenings as the uninterrupted views and sunsets were unbeatable and just so easy to set up out on the deck with our little one… The laundry and kitchen were well stocked and had pretty much everything we needed. Oh except a kettle - I don't drink coffee but LOVE my morning cups of tea so that would have been handy… We got by with a saucepan ;) The owners were extremely helpful from the get go. They responded promptly to all of our emails and requests and I found them really friendly and easy to deal with. We added my mum to the rental agreement with no problems and she loved the privacy of the granny flat just near the main home. Oh and Janine kindly recommended the BEST hairdresser who did my hair & makeup for our little wedding ceremony... SO happy as probably would've ended up with some daggy resort style hairdo otherwise! Can't recommend this property highly enough. For us this was certainly a trip to remember and we will definitely be back. Thank you so much Janine and Jason for sharing your home with us!! Divine Abode on the North Shore! (335876)

It really doesn't get any better than this! We stayed a week at this well appointed home on Chun's Beach. The pictures don't do the home justice...It's far more beautiful in person. The view is incredible from both decks, and the beach is just a few steps away from the lower deck. Everything you need is included; the kitchen has dishes, pots, pans, coffeemaker, dishtowels, and even dish soap and dish washer detergent. The bathrooms are well equipped with towels, Kleenex, hand soap, bar soap, and bathroom tissue. Several mornings we took a stroll on the beach and most evenings we were treated to spectacular sunsets while seated on the lower deck. If you enjoy being in the water, the snorkeling is great in the lagoon. The house also has beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and boogie boards. The location is excellent, we were between Haleiwa and Waimea Bay - it's just a few miles to get to either destination. Two of our favorite restaurants in Haleiwa were The Grass Skirt Grill and Haleiwa Joes. There are many activities in the area and we took advantage of the snorkeling at Shark's Cove and seeing the waterfall at Waimea Falls Park. We really don't understand the review that mentioned the owners being sensitive. We found Janine and Jason to be very kind and professional. When first talking to Jason, concerning rental policies, he made it very clear that you could have additional people at the house, he just wanted them listed on the contract. We also received our full deposit back promptly. Overall we had a magnificent time during our stay here, and would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful home in the perfect spot! (335876)

My family recently stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time. The house was spotless upon arrival and was well equipped with what we needed for a great week away (beach toys, beach towels, snorkels, kitchen equipment, etc. etc.). Our almost one year old daughter was able to play in the lagoon area in front of the house and learn to enjoy the ocean; my husband and stepson were able to surf in front of the house. Janine provided great suggestions for places to eat and rent surf boards; we had a good experience in each location. She was prompt with all her replies to our inquires. The home made our vacation very special! (Words of wisdom: Use Saturday and Sunday afternoons to hang out by the house; the traffic in the area was more than we wanted to deal with on a weekend!)

Perfect location on Oahu! (335876)

We stayed here with one other couple in October, and the location is wonderful. There are great, uncrowded waves straight out front, but the beach is also protected by a small barrier reef, so there is a perfect area for swimming and snorkeling even when the swell is up. Snorkeling/free diving in front of the house was good as well. We enjoyed it more than Shark's Cove, actually, which is listed in all the guide books as the place to go on the North Shore. All in all, whenever we were traveling to different parts of the island, we often wondered why we didn't just stay at the house. The location is that good.

I stayed at the house for a week with my wife and 2 yr old daughter and it was perfect for us. The beach right in front of the house was great and it is sheltered from the surf by the reef so it is a good spot for little kids. I was able to surf for the first four days right in front of the house before the swell got too big, but then you walk or ride to Waimea Bay and check out the surfers from the bluff. It was amazing. The location is very convenient: close to town, the grocery store, all the surf spots. The house itself is very comfortable and the views are spectacular. The deck and large yard are great as well. The owners are very nice and accommodating. They gave us great local tips and we had no problem getting a hold of them for any questions or issues. We will definitely be back as soon as we can!

My new favorite island getaway! (335876)

Many a trip to the Hawaiian islands over the years and very fortunate to have stayed at some of the most desirable areas and properties on each island. This place jumped out at me while searching for the perfect getaway due to its location in my latest search for a property to stay at this past winter. I have stayed at a friends place in the past many times just up the road from Chun's so was very familiar with the location. All I can say is that this IS the spot to stay if you are looking for the ultimate North Shore experience, it really cannot be beat. In my opinion it is the best beach spot to swim, snorkel or surf on the North Shore or any part of Oahu. All of this just steps from the Chun's Hideaway patio. From the minute we pulled into the driveway a huge aloha smile was permanent on our faces throughout the stay and still remains, this place swept us off our feet. The owners were very personable and easy to deal with, the whole experience was seamless. Going to book the week at the end of July when I finish this review, sorry "first come first serve"!

Best on the Beach! (335876)

In my opinion, Chun's Hideaway is the ideal North Shore getaway. It offers a gorgeous beach location that you just want to bottle somehow and take home with you. The sea turtles are a delight to watch and great surfing and snorkeling are just steps away. Our multi-generational family of 6, from age 6 months to 60 years, stayed at the house and the layout proved ideal giving us each well-appointed common and private spaces. The swimming lagoon is perfect for young children and actually we all enjoyed it. You really can't beat the ocean views of this property. It offers special views from sunrise to sunset. We ate some meals in and the kitchen had everything you would need. However,it is located very close to Haleiwa so there are many fun restaurants to try. The Botanical Gardens at Waimea Falls is just up the road as well as the Kualoa Ranch. Other reviews mentioned the "Turtle Traffic" bogging things down--but we did not experience that. Our family arrived at different times which required several trips to the airport. I thought it would take much longer to get to the North Shore from Honolulu but found this to be a very easy drive. All in all it was a perfect trip and this house had a lot to do with it. Owners Jason and Janine were great to deal with and very professional. I hope to have the opportunity to return to this lovely beachfront home--SOON!!!!

You Can't Get Closer to the Beach! (335876)

If you enjoy waking up to the sights, sounds and smells of the waves crashing, you'll love this very special residence. From the private gated entry to the expansive front and back yards, you will feel like you're in your own beachfront compound (celebrity style). My husband and two daughters (ages 12 and 10) recently spent the week here and we loved every minute. We spent every day in the water paddle boarding, boogie boarding and snorkeling right on the beach outside the house or down the beach. We saw some great colorful fish, eels and sea turtles. The location is so close to town where we often ate at Ted's Bakery down the road and at Kono's, Matsumoto's and at the food trucks near Haleiwa. We also shopped at the local markets and BBQ'd one night while the kids threw a football around on the soft grass. The residence has everything you need: beach towels, boogie boards, kitchen essentials, bath soap, etc. It's those details that make it very comfortable. The only thing to be aware of is that there's no AC which is usually not a problem when you open up the windows--you can enjoy the nice breezes through the house. It's also a testament to how spoiled we really are. =) The owners were nice and very responsive. My daughter Ava asked to make sure we rent this place again and we hope to return again soon!

We rented this glorious spot for a family renunion with our two grown daughters and one significant other. When I started to look for a spot, there were a few conditions that were nonnegotiable. First, I wanted a house right on the beach, next, it needed a nice deck area where we could barbeque fresh fish, and lastly, it needed be decorated in a tasteful but not overly fancy style. I must say that this house fit the bill to a tee! The beach area was so beautiful and mostly unoccupied. There were spots to snorkel and swim, and it was within walking distance of the turtle beach and other surfing areas. The kitchen was commodious and well stocked. There is a large deck off the master bedroom on the second floor. This was used for yoga sessions by my younger daughter. The separate bedroom is below the second house and serves as a more private bedroom (a la prehoneymoon cottage…) The Seymours were professional, fair and prompt in all our dealings with them. This place is a winner!

First of all it was a pleasure to work out the details with the owners, welcoming and great information. The property is set back from the main highway of a dead end street, no noise and no traffic outside your gate. The setting is the most amazing, very well kept gardens and the house is very tastefully decorated with local art. Did I say: right smack on a beautiful beach with fantastic snorkeling right there. The master suite is something else, majestic views and giving you the Polynesian vibe. This is a true home away from home, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time here and this will be my first choice if I ever make it back to the island!

This house met and exceeded all of out expectations. We traveled with my parents and sister in law and each one of us had the best time. We enjoyed the secluded nature of the house along with all the amenities it had to offer. Waking up and going to sleep looking at and hearing the ocean waves truly made our vacation relaxing. Working with the owners was a pleasure as they were kind and gracious and also extended many tips on things to do while on the island. If we ever have the opportunity to come back, we will be looking to stay and this hidden gem!

The location of this property simply cannot be beat! Our family loved waking up to watch the surfers and SUPer's every morning. The lagoon/beach in front of the property was perfect for snorkeling, swimming, playing in the waves, & building sand castles. We loved our nightly beach walks, there is so much to do right outside your door, I could go on and on! The house has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. All steps in making the reservation to receiving our deposit back from the owners was simple and timely. If we are ever lucky enough to travel back to the North Shore, I would not hesitate to book this property again. Our best vacation to date!

We so enjoyed this place...the house, the lawn, the deck, the privacy, the beach. I knew my son's would love the surf but I would not have believed I could snorkel here in January! I saw all my favorite Hawaiian fish and then there were the turtles! My grandson could play in the water too which is not an option at many of these properties. It was just lovely!

Best location on the North Shore(335876)

This place was simply perfect. I can't describe how happy we were to arrive at this peaceful place after a tiring overnight flight. The house and grounds were fantastic, the view and location could not be beat. A local swimming out front told us we had the best spot on the north shore and I couldn't agree more. We traveled with our 3 young children (aged 5, 3, and 1) and my brother and his friend. This place is perfect for families, it was spacious, the house came with everything we needed, including surf board, boogey boards, blow-up doughnuts, beach toys, snorkelling gear, beach towels, portacot, baby high chair, board games, books, and so much more. We ate all our meals on the deck just soaking up the beauty of our surroundings. We cooked some meals on the BBQ which turned out delicious, and the large yard was great for our kids to run around and play. It was the best spot for swimming, snorkelling and surfing. The lagoon out front provides protection and calm waters to swim and snorkel, while the breaks out beyond the reef were excellent. The property was private, secure and quiet. The owners, Jason and Janine, were helpful, friendly and very professional, we cannot wait to go back.

By far the best location on the North Shore! This is our second year staying at this beautiful home with my husband and two boys; ages 10 & 8. This is truly paradise and so private! Entrance to the house in on a private road with a secured gate. What makes this property unique 1) it is right on the sand! 2) deck is built a bit passed everyone elses so you have non-obstructed views up and down and the beach. Absolutely the best views ever!. 3) you have a backyard! My boys loved coming off the beach and playing on green grass every now and then! What a treat for them. 4) best surf spots (Chuns, Left-Overs & Aligators surf spots) in the winter and by far, the only place safe to swim for the boys..right out front in the protected lagoon! Sea Turtles swim into the lagoon almost everyday and the boys snorkeled right up to them to get a closer look. There is not many places you can swim and snorkel in the winter on the North Shore. The turtles came right up to the sand each night around sunset. We would have a glass of wine and watch some of the most beautiful sunsets every night. It never got old or boring! The home was perfect for our family and the master bedroom on its own on the second floor with its own balcony was just perfect for me and my husband. Perfect place to watch the surf and enjoy a morning coffee. Jason & Janine were the perfect hosts and are always accommodating with anything you need. We would not hesitate to stay again. This has become our 'happy place' Mahalo Jason & Janine! The White Family

Oh my, this place is right on the beach in a beautiful location with spectacular views

Date of Stay
January 17, 2016

We loved staying at your beautiful place on the North Shore and didn't want to leave! The location is perfect as it is literally right on the beach and its between Haleiwa and Waimea Bay. When we first arrived the surf was huge (25 feet) and the ocean was roaring. Our first few days we were fortunate to swim right out front of the house because there is a reef that provides some protected pools. It was the best of both worlds to be able to swim and at the same time watch the brave surfers catch some big ones! Nearly every night a big sea turtle came up on the beach to sleep. In the house we especially enjoyed the top master bedroom with pretty wood floors and the adjoining large deck with great views to the ocean so we could watch the surfers, the surf, turtles, sunrise, sunset, full moon, etc. We had everything we needed for cooking and enjoyed the pretty yard and privacy. Everyone we met on the beach was so friendly. There are so many fun and interesting things to do nearby including exploring Haleiwa, watching surfers at Pipeline and Sunset beach, devouring pastries at Ted's Bakery, getting custom ordered dishes from the owner at Opal Thai, and vegetarian shopping at the Celestial market. We hope to be back again soon to enjoy paradise on the North Shore.
