Description from owner

OPEN ALL YEAR!!

For your Fall Color Tour, Cozy Family Thanksgiving, Holiday, & Ski Getaways, Spring Break, and Summer Beach Vacations!

This new cottage style home has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a total living area 2,400 sq. ft. Plenty of room to spread out. This house is truly designed with the family in mind, with separate spaces for the grown-ups, and little ones alike.

Vintage Mod, Baby! It's luxurious, with a retro feel - sure to evoke a flashback or two. The shag carpeting, custom ceramic tile, custom woodwork and a mix of retro antiques and custom furniture (not to mention a few surprises), will help make this a vacation to remember.

Atop this 130' bluff, witness panoramic views that will allow you to see all the way to Charlevoix, and on some days even Beaver Island! Enjoy these views from the home as well as from the meandering bluffside staircase, with secluded sun deck that leads to the very private sandy frontage* on Lake Michigan. Reminiscent of America's Pacific Northwest, this is the secluded beach you have dreamed of. You can walk for miles up, and down the beach* without seeing a single person.

Located in Harbor Springs opposite Lake Michigan on the famous Tunnel of Trees - a top destination for bicyclists. You're close to such vacation spots as, Petoskey (25 min.), Cross Village (25 min.), and The Inland Water Way (30 min.).

Not to mention your only 40 minutes to The Straits of Mackinaw, and all that area has to offer! Ferrys to Mackinac Island, Waterpark, Resataunts, Fort Michilimackinac, etc Oh don't forget about Fudge!!

*See Owners site link for complete details and pictures.

Beds: 2 Queen Beds, 4 Twin Beds, 3 Sofa Beds, 1 Crib

About the area

The Surf Cottage is located on the "Tunnel of Trees", voted by AAA to be the most scenic route in Michigan. The road has the appearance of a bike path as the trees are very close to the road and there is no dividing line. A very popular destination for bicyclists.

“2015 Summer vacation”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2015

Absolutely wonderful home - so beautiful with a great floor plan, great décor, great views of the lake from the living areas in the house and several of the bedrooms, and plenty of room for our 5 families with 10 adults and 2 children . The deck out the back door was large enough for all of us to gather and was low enough to the ground that there was no railing providing a better view of the lake. The house was very well equipped (appliances, household items, games, kayak, firewood, DirecTV stations, dvds). The location was great for what we were looking for - the northern area (Petoskey, Mackinaw, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix). The small town it resides in (Cross Village) had a great convenience store with a good selection of items including good pizza, bakery items, deli sandwiches and beer. The price on these items was sometimes less than the IGA where we bought our supplies (the IGA was extremely small, congested and expensive) - we would suggest driving a bit further to Petoskey to grocery shop. Leggs Inn in Cross Village exceeded our expectations - great food, wonderful patio area in the back with another excellent view of the lake, great service and décor. The beach was great - we searched for Petoskey stones and found many beautiful stones but not sure we found any of the Petoskey - it was fun looking... Our biggest disappointment was the lagoon - the water was high and we had no way to get around it but use the neighbors walkway to the beach. Even that walkway required you to walk in the lagoon water and after a rain during the week that walkway went under water. I understand that this is not normal, but it definitely put a damper on our trips to the beach. Even with the lagoon, we rate this property at 5 stars - best we have stayed at!
