*Year-round hunting and fishing, so be sure to get your permits/licenses in order
Fall: enjoy the beautiful foliage out in the country or go to one of various fairs in the area. I would recommend the Fryeburg fair; which is the most widely known and is only about 45 minutes away on Hwy 17N. It is usually held at the end of September and runs through the beginning of October. It's also a great time for fishing and hunting. There are several lakes and rivers to fish and as you will see once you reach the cabin, there is plenty of land for hunting. If you're going to fish and/or hunt, don't forget to apply for and get the applicable licenses.
Winter: there are snowmobile trails easily accessible from the cabin, that head out all over the region; so you will want to get a trail map from one of the local snowmobile clubs, or just ask downtown. Ice fishing is also popular (please check with local enforcement agencies for safety of the ice first). And of course, not least of all, skiing is a big time winter event. There are several ski slopes in the surrounding area.
Spring: the perfect time to get away and just enjoy the peaceful serenity of you and nature... there is nothing more relaxing. Leave all your worries and stress at home and be free. You can still hunt and/or fish, if that is what you enjoy, you can go down to town for a quiet stroll or sit out by the lake, go to the local shops, enjoy a drive in the country, or just sit out at the cabin and enjoy yourself.
Summer: the town is just a few miles down the road, where you can go to the lake to swim, rent a boat, fish, or just get out for the day. This is the Sebago Lakes Region and there is so much to do... so go online and read about this area and come out and enjoy nature at its best!

Reviews for this vacation cabin rental in Harrison, Maine
My Dream Vacation!
My Dream Vacation!
November 10, 2013
I've stayed here 3 times & loved it! The cabin is beautiful, cozy and immaculate. All of the comforts of home are provided--just need to bring clothes & food. Located in the woods of a small town, it is quiet yet close to the lakes and the quaint downtown village where you'll find a few general stores, eateries and gas.(about 4-5mi) If you want to drive 10-15 miles you'll find larger grocery & retail stores including "Reny's-A Maine Adventure"--sure to please any shopper! The city of Portland which is about 45mins away has many attractions for all ages including movies, shows, concerts, fine dining and of course lots of shopping. This is an ideal place to completely relax. The surrounding areas are peaceful and charming and can only offer you a GREAT vacation! I will definitely be returning again this year.
I built this cabin as a get away for myself and for my two children and their families to enjoy as they like for vacations. My wife and I got married here with a large gathering; over 100 people.
My wife and I love to sit out on the porch early in the morning and in the evening, to enjoy the sounds of nature and see the occasional deer, turkey and other critters... hoping to see a moose or a bear; as they have been spotted in this area, just not by us. We also enjoy going down to the lake to rent a boat for a day or half-day, and/or going to one of the local establishments and talking with the locals.
