Cottage Description

Harmony, ME, Great Moose Lake. Located directly on a large beautiful lake in mid-Maine with picturesque glacial rocky shores. The cottage now has high speed internet access. There is a Queen sized bed in each of the 2 bedrooms and 2 pull-out futon-sleeps 6-8. If there will be more than 6, please discuss with me ahead of time. The cottage is very comfortable with heat available if needed, hot/cold shower, electricity, an oven/stove, microwave and toaster for people's use. It is located in a lovely pine grove 30 feet from the water's edge, with gorgeous views across the lake. There is a canoe and dock, firewood and an outside fire ring for your use. Please inquire if you need a boat ramp as there are a couple of options in the area. Swim, boat, fish or just sit by the lake and listen to the loons.

About the area

Surrounding area- Surrounding area- The cottage is located on the Harmony/Athens town line in mid-Maine. There is grocery shopping and big box stores located a half an hour away, with restaurants, movies and theater available as well. It is centrally located to many of the diverse and breathtaking landscapes that Maine has to offer. Approximately a 1 1/2 hour's drive west lie some of the most substantial ski mountains in ME (Sugarloaf) with gorgeous hiking trails and scenic drives throughout the region. North approximately 1 hour's drive is Maine's largest lake, Moosehead Lake, with thousands of acres of surrounding wilderness. The village of Forks is an hour's drive northwest, and is home to some of the most exciting rafting areas in New England. 1 1/2 hour's drive east brings you to the Atlantic coast at the city of Belfast; this is a pleasant and interesting village which seems to successfully blend a centuries old lobstering tradition with a more artistic, progressive feel. The beautiful mid-Maine coast opens up in both directions; southwest through Lincolnville, Camden, Rockland and the mid-Maine Islands, or northwards (down east ) to the stunning Acadia National Park. However, once you get to the lake and begin to relax, you may never want to leave.
