Ocean lover's dream spot
Just returned from a lovely stay at Nemo's Nest. Darcell could not be a sweeter host and the house is clean and bright and larger than I thought it would be. There are two large bedrooms two baths one with a large jet tub and the other with a very handy washer- dryer and an extra family room with a TV and a couch which is actually part single bed-perfect for naps. The front of the house which is on the water is a large open kitchen and living room combination with a bright white cathedral ceiling complete with fans. But the most amazing thing about this house is the setting. It is off the busy road in a quiet neighbor hood full of friendly neighbors and it sits right on the sea wall. We couldn't get enought of watching the waves break on the reefs, catching the sunrise every morning, and seeing the amazing stars at night. Just seconds down the road is one of the most private and beautiful sandy beaches.
We stayed in Nemo's Nest for during our trip to Hawaii. There were 4 adults and one 2 year old. the house had everything that we could need and more. The owner was so accommodating. She provided a 'pack'n'play' for the baby and there was also an extra bed in the second bedroom for him to use! We were happily surprised to find that there was an abundance of water toys and snorkel gear to use. My favorite thing about the house was having the ocean right in the back yard. It was amazing sitting there in the morning while drinking my coffee. There is a beach right near by but our favorite beach was a little further down the road (Hukilau Beach). I can not wait to go back!
Best Location and Great Owner!
Stayed at Nemo's Nest with my sister for our first visit to Hawaii and couldn't have found a better place to stay. Darcelle was the best to work with and made sure our stay was perfect. We arrived to the place around 11:00 PM due to delays arriving in Honolulu, but Darcelle insisted she greet us to make sure everything was satisfactory. The house was wonderful and right on the water. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing visit right on the water, consider Nemo's Nest.
LOVED THIS PLACE!!
If you are looking to be on the water and in a very convient location for the north shore... then this is it!!! My mom, boyfriend and I stayed over a month, more than enough space for all of us, and had a great time! Great location.. and walking distance to a supermarket and strip mall area! Which is 'HUGE" on the north shore. The house is beautifully mantained with everything that you might need.. even the laundry detergent! The owners were fabulous!!! Can't say enough about their Hawaian hospitality! It is on the water with stairs right into the ocean. Perfect place to watch the sunrise. We cooked turkey dinner and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed! Hope to return someday soon and would not think of staying any other place!!
Everything you need & Lots of space
Darcelle and Mike were great! I spoke to Darcelle a few times before my family and I arrived in Hawaii and she shared a bunch of helpful information and tips about the area. Mike met us upon arrival and showed us around the house. The house was clean and spacious, the kitchen was well stocked, and there were even boogie boards and snorkeling gear available. The house is walking distance from a grocery store and about a 20 min drive to North Shore (depending on traffic). The ocean is just at the end of the back yard. While it is not a sandy beach, it was nice to watch the sun rise and set over the ocean.
I highly recommend Nemo's Nest if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay.
My favorite beach cottage
When I think about a beach cottage, rustic comes to mind. Not so this cottage! It was beautiful and modern inside, and exceptionally clean. The view and the backyard, though, are the real draw. Like any beach house you have a neighboring house on either side of you, but at Nemo's Nest you get a back yard that backs right to the ocean. In July, at low tide you can step down off the rear patio and carefully walk the beach (many rocks) and at high tide you can feel the waves slam into the sea wall. The location is off the main road so road noise is not an issue. It is also 5-10 minutes to a grocery store, and an easy drive to all the north shore attractions as well as south to Kailua Bay. The few times the house started to get a bit warm, the trade winds started and cooled us all down. My family had a blast here!
Nemo's Nest is the Best!!!
My family of four recently stayed at Nemo's Nest and had a beautiful week long vacation in Oahu. Darcelle greeted us when we came to the beach house, and the house is amazing! When you walk through the front door, you instantly fall in love with the modern kitchen and vaulted ceilings. The house is located within a few feet of the beach. The house has a very spacious feel to it. The decor is beautiful and there are several books to read and great DVD videos to watch at night. Our boys had their own bedroom with separate beds and bathroom, and my husband and I had our own bathroom in the master suite. We truly felt like we were "home away from home." Everything we needed and wanted was available to us, from kitchen tools to toiletries. Darcelle even provided boogie boards and beach towels that we used when we went to the beautiful beaches located very close to the house. My husband grilled shrimp and hot dogs for our boys some nights, and there is a local grocery store right down the street. It was very nice to hear the waves at night when we kept the sliding doors open. In the morning you can witness the most amazing and beautiful sunrises, these were always a nice start to our days on vacation. My family has stayed with Darcelle in the past, and this was our 3rd stay with Darcelle. We keep coming back to her and her beautiful home because Darcelle is an excellent and gracious host, and because we want a true family experience when we come to Oahu. If you want to feel like you have been truly at peace while on vacation and want to escape the hustle and bustle of a hotel or "big city life" then Nemo's Nest is the beach house for you! We would recommend it and have to our family and friends. You will be very happy you stayed here! Thank you Darcelle and we will definitely see you the next time we come back to Oahu! :)
Nice Place and Great Area
What a great place, it has everything you need with all of the comforts of home. The property was clean and well-maintained. It is close to the beach, golfing, hiking, food, restaurants and an easy drive to Honolulu. The house is 20' from the ocean, bring your water shoes the coral reef is the back year. The beds are great. We would highly recommend this property to anyone.
Amazing Beach House
My family and I live on Oahu and decided to do a staycation for the kids since it was their last day of school and my youngest son's birthday. We usually stay at a hotel in Waikiki or at Turtle Bay Resort, but this time I thought we would stay at a beach house instead. It was an incredible experence staying right on the beach. We were up early collecting shells and sea glass on the beach right outside our door. The house was beautiful, very clean and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and there was a nice ocean breeze that ran through the whole house. The kids had such a great time!! They were already asking when are we going to stay at Nemo's Nest again. I would highly recommend staying at Nemo's Nest to our family and friends.
Darcelle...thank you very much for your warm hospitality and for greeting us when we arrived that evening. I'm already checking our calandar to see when we can book our next stay. Take care and thanks again!!
Perfection On the Ocean
I recently stayed at Nemo's Nest and it was the perfect vacation. I like to get away from the usual tourist places and be directly on the ocean, but still have the conveniences of restaurants, stores, and yoga studios within a reasonable distance. This was it.
Let me start with the best part - the view. Nemo's Nest has a direct view of the ocean. The only thing separating the living room and kitchen from the water is about thirty feet of yard. So when you open the wall of doors facing the water, all you hear is the sound of waves. The yard is perfect to eat at the picnic table and there are chairs at the water's edge. The water is about six feet down from the yard so there is no problem with the water lapping over into the yard. There is something exhilarating eating with the sound of the surf and rising with the sun over the Pacific. Plus this area of Hauula juts out into the ocean by about 100 yards so you are 100 yards from the traffic - I never heard a car or truck go by.
The view to the ocean is from an extra spacious living room and fully equipped kitchen. Tons of counterspace, a dishwasher, range/oven and full refrigerator/freezer. Plus all the kitchen and cooking utensils, pots, pans, utensils, plates and glasses you will need. I like to cook and bake and with all of this, plus what appears to be a brand new counter, cooking was easy. There is a convenient grocery store in Hauula about two blocks away. The open floor plan also has a very high ceiling which gives a great feel to this extremely spacious room. The fact there are windows on every wall makes for a constant tradewind through the house.
Going away from the ocean, there is a tv/reading room separated from the living room by a half wall. You then get to the two bedrooms and two baths. I used the en suite master bedroom. The queen size bed was as good as new and really comfortable. The windows gave a great cross-breeze and all the rooms have ceiling fans which are great. No need for ac. The bath was incredible. It was a giant room with a Jacuzzi tub and a shower. The other bedroom was almost as big and the bath off of that had a tub/shower combination. There is a large closet in the master bedroom.
Darcelle and Mike, the owners, are wonderful. One of them will meet you on your arrival. They live in the neighborhood so are available when needed but respect your privacy.
My only regret is that I could only stay for a week. I could have stayed for a lifetime.
