Reviews for this vacation home rental in Hauula, Oahu, Hawaii
Comfortable spacious home in paradise
October 24, 2015
This home is wonderful! The owner has an art studio just a few miles from the home which is worth a visit. He has some beautiful pieces from the studio on display in the home. Big open spacious rooms with fans and A/C. Sleeping pads and futon for extra guests. Amenities provided included snorkeling gear, boogie boards, water shoes, beach toys, kayak, life jackets, coolers, beach chairs and umbrellas and beach towels. Kitchen has everything needed ( the only thing we couldn't find was a vegetable peeler). Large refrigerator. Nice romantic master bedroom and bath with stone waterfall shower. There are 4 large bedrooms total and 3 bathrooms. It worked great for our group of 8 people. There is a nursery with crib/ mini kitchen off the master bedroom. Plenty of room at the tables for dining and playing games. Good assortment of movies and books. Internet service! Washer and dryer and gas BBQ were very much appreciated. Clothes lines for hanging towels and wetsuits. Carport with space for two cars. Close to beach and the Polynesian culture center. Owner Jim and manager Willow were extremely accommodating and personable. We loved the gift basket of treats to welcome us to Hawaii. The home is about 45 minutes from the airport and in an excellent location to get to anything you want to do on the island and away from the "touristy" big city. This is an excellent place at an excellent price. I hope we can come back soon! Jim and Willow, thank you for providing a place of healing and refuge for our family! They are right when they say all you need to bring is a bathing suit.

We just returned from our trip to Hau'ula, Oahu and want to go back already. The house was perfect for our 2 families, total of 5 adults, 2 teenagers, and 3 smaller children. Everything was provided in the home, minus food. We were able to stock up at Costco on our way from the airport and there were a couple grocery stores near the house if we needed anything. It's easy to get to, and the beach is a short walk away. The beach is great for swimming and snorkeling, even for our small children. There are plenty of water toys, snorkeling gear, floaties for kids, and a canoe at the house which was great! Willow was great in answering any questions we had about the house (there weren't many). You will probably need to rent a car as it is an hour drive away from the airport and Waikiki. We were glad to have chosen to stay on the North Shore, away from the city. This home allowed us the luxury of a quiet, relaxed vacation with the option to drive around the island and see all of what Oahu has to offer. The food trucks along Kamehameha hwy are #1 if you're out exploring and get hungry. I can't say enough good things about this house and our trip. My youngest son cried for 20 minutes when it was time to leave. Thank you so much for making our trip amazing!

my family loved the house

this house is very spacious and has everything my family needed during 5 days vacation. it was very nice and thoughtful to see a welcome basket on the table. though i didnt get to meet Willow, but she was nice to check on me with a text.my family and I felt that expectations were met. the only problem i had was hearing an intermittent noise (sounded like starting a motorcycle engine that lasted for approx 3 secs.) in big master bedroom. it woke me and my sister up. i will definitely recommend this place for family that like to stay and relax in quiet and nice beach(away from city)

Jim (owner) and Willow (manager) made our stay awesome! We stayed at this property for 5 nights recently, and didn't have much to worry about as far as the property was concerned. There is A/C in each room, so the heat and humidity was more bearable. There's a tv with cable in all the rooms, so my kids were able to watch their cartoons. The kitchen is nice and spacious. There is plenty of room for everybody to spread out. There's a washer/dryer and the detergent was provided, so we were able to do a load of laundry for the kids. The beach is right across the street. You're close to north shore, so if you plan on visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center, it's very convenient. The shrimp trucks on the north shore aren't that far away. There's free wifi, so you can still be connected to the internet. There are really good information sheets that the owner has written that explain most of the things with the house. It's always nice staying at a vacation rental where the owner seems to truly care about his guests enjoying the property. It's not a 5 star luxury resort, but it also cost me a quarter of what staying at a 5 star luxury resort with my family would've cost me. The house was nice inside, with all the amenities you could want. It's in a convenient location (about 40 minutes from the airport, 10-15 minutes away to the shrimp trucks in north shore). Thanks for an awesome stay Jim and Willow!

beautiful home away from home
May 6, 2014
Myself and my family recently stayed at this home while on vacation for a week. Our contact point was Willow and she was very kind and pleasant to work with. The home itself had everything we needed to feel at home. They've provided beach towels, kayak equipment, beach toys and even a life vest for my small niece. The beach access was a simple street cross away and it almost seemed that we had the beach to ourselves. I would highly recommend this home.
we were a lucky family

We had a wonderful stay at this beach house. All of our expectations were met. Our party consisted of 9 adults and 2 toddlers. There was plenty of room to spread out. The house was clean, well maintained, well stocked and very comfortable. The advertisement and photos for this property are completely accurate. The beach across the street was beautiful and almost totally private. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for something a little more secluded and outside of the tourist areas.
Very nice home

Our stay at this house was truly great. Very comfortable and spacious. We felt right at home here. The House looks OK from the outside but the inside is fantastic. The Beach across the street was very nice for swimming except for the big rocks on the bottom. Would definitely recommend this house to any family wanting a very nice comfortable stay.

Home away from home!
October 8, 2013
This rental property is perfect for a large size family or multiple families traveling together that want seclusion and to be away from all the hustle & bustle of city life. The house is fully furnished and has all the amenities one would need, and more (e.g., boogie boards, snorkeling gears, a 2-person kayak, etc.). Our family really enjoyed everything Oahu has to offer but because of this rental property, it made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable! Mahalo!!!
Loved it and would go again
July 10, 2013
I stayed there at the end of June and loved it. They had everything that you would need for a pleasant stay. The beach was right across the street so we didn't need to worry about parking or crowds. We rented a car so anytime we wanted to go else where on the island it was a little drive but worth it to be out of the crowded parts. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone coming to the island.

Great place for a family vacation
March 7, 2013
We had a group of 11 and there was plenty of room for everyone. It saved us a lot of money renting this home vs. getting a hotel in the city. Willow was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. THEY have everything you could possibly need, beach towels, cookware, toiletries exc... Only a couple of negitives, stove needs to be replace (it's about to fall apart) and the front screen door has seen better days. The house has an inital musty smell, but I'm sure it's because of all the moisture and it grows on you. Overall, this place is the BEST bang for your BUCK! We really enjoyed our time at the house and the location is great! Thank you Jim and Willow!
Thank you for the honest review...We will go ahead and replace the stove...and the screen door (for the 3rd time this year!)
As far as the musty environment...we have had a record rainfall this year so we just need some time to dry out.
Thank you for staying with us...next time there will be a new stove! and maybe a little more sunshine!

We had such a great time here. The house came with board games, a Wii and all the water toy's you need to have a great time. The house had plenty of room for all 7 of us. The people on Oahu were so friendly. We did not want to come home.

This was our first experience renting a house for a vacation and it was great. It was so much better than staying in a Hotel. Everything was as stated in the add the house had everything we needed plus. it was clean and comfortable. Jim and his property manager Willow were very easy to work with. We will be renting a home on are next vacation where every we go.
Amazing trip dispite the weather!
April 12, 2012
We stayed here in early march and it just so happened that it was the rainiest two weeks they'd had in a long time. Absolute downpour with only 1 sunny day in Waikiki, but it actually gave us a lot of time to spend enjoying the house! We ended up having 10 people staying together. The futon and couch were very comfortable for the people staying in the living room. The bedrooms were very nice and comfortable, except one of the beds that was pretty hard though we found a mattress pad in the closet. We cooked all our meals at the house and everything worked great, the bbq and all appliances. They had enough beach towels and bath towels for all of us to use if we hadn't brought our own. The beach access is about 100ft from the house and you're right there at the water. The mornings that were sunny it was SO nice to walk on the beach. The woman that helps manage the property was VERY nice and helpful. She was definitely there when we needed anything which is very much appreciated. Nothing bad to say about this property, we had a great experience. If you're thinking about staying here though keep in mind it's a bit of a drive to any of the tourist areas but that's great if what you're looking for is to experience the real Hawaii!

To say we left kicking and screaming would be an understatement! Jim has provided everything to make this a home away from home. The wonderful open floor plan made it so nice to visit with our family of 8, without feeling the least bit cramped. Having 2 master suites was, well... sweet :) We loved the private beach accross the street, and made great use of the kayak and all the beach equipment. What a savings it was to not have to buy snorkel gear, or have to worry about packing towels.. all was provided. It is certainly on the tame side of the island, but frankly it allowed us time to visit more as a family. We even put together 2 of the puzzles provided. This will go down as our favorite family vacation, and in large part due to this wonderful Hawaiian home. We absolutely can't wait to come back to our Punaluu Ohana, and can't wait to rent this gorgeous home again soon! Aloha!

Our stay at Big Family Home
October 4, 2011
The house lived up to our expectations, The wide entryway opened up to a large living room adjoining the dining room and kitchen and an island stove facing the dining room. With the large dining table, lots of seating and the openness of the living area, it was excellent for visiting while cooking, watching TV, playing games, etc. As advertised, the house had everything you could ask for. All you need are your clothes and a toothbrush. Toys include a kayak, snorkle gear, swim fins, water shoes, extra sandals. Jim keeps dishes, silverware, paper products, everything but perishables, plus a gas BBQ ready to go. A small beach is accessible just across the street with a much larger beach area a four minute walk. We had six adults and one car but there is room for more people and parking for more vehicles. The house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, and flat screen TV's in each room. All in All, the house came as advertised and only 45 minutes from Waikiki. After visiting the big city, it was great to get back to relative serenity. It is a lived in house so you don't have to tip toe around and is very comfortable.

We came to Hawaii for our friend's wedding. There were a total of 10 adult guest that stayed in Jim's beach house. I could not have asked for anything better!! This house was amazing. The location is what makes the house so great. It is a short walk (across the street) to the beach which might I add makes you feel like you have your own private beach. With the exception of the casual dog walker and fisherman, the beach was all ours!! And Jim makes sure you have enough supplies for the perfect day at the beach! Chairs, towels, umbrellas, sand toys, snorkel gear and not to mention a kayak!! There are lots of coral where we were able to see lots of fish. It was nice not having to go rent gear to experience this! The house is also filled with lots of bath towels, extra bedding and futon beds. The kitchen had lots of appliances and a pantry full of paper goods and extra spices!! The house definetly feels like home when you are there. Its very cozy and beautifully decorated. The house is very spacious. All the bedrooms were a good size. We had 20 people in the house getting ready the day of the wedding. Even though the house is a little ways from the downtown area, the drive is worth it. You get great views of the ocean and the 2 lane hwy is lined with beautiful tropical trees!! The house is also about 25 mins from the Turtle Bay Resort. This was the best location to watch the sunset. There is a grocery store and gas station like 5 mins from the house. Overall our trip was amazing
