“North Shore Oahu”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2017

We loved our time in Hawaii and particularly the perfect setting of this lovely cottage right on the waters edge. The sunrise over the palms made many a posting on our Facebook page. If you want to see Oahu's north shore, this is the place to stay. The location is perfect!! It is easily accessible to get to must see places such as Sharks Cove, Sunset Beach and Pipeline Beach, and very close to tourist favorite the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is also easy to travel in the opposite direction to head to Lanikai area and Honolulu. The house itself was perfect for what we were looking for on our extended month long stay. It was clean, had suitable linens and an adequately stocked kitchen. The beds were also very comfortable, which was very important. Falling asleep at night while listening to the ocean waves was particularly soothing. The beach to the left of the house is small, but has enough room to sit and enjoy the scenery. We were fortunate enough to be visited by Honey Girl (Monk Seal) and her daughter Epoe on numerous occasions, which delighted my grandchildren. While we enjoyed our stay here very much, there were several things that needed attention or repair. The smoke detectors were not working. They were all either missing batteries or were not in each room at all. (We ended up buying batteries to put in the ones we could find, so we felt safe). None of the exterior lighting on the house was working. Thank goodness for iPhones and their flashlights! While my next point is not a negative of the house, but more of a suggestion of my expectations, the only other thing we took issue with was this lack of comfortable chairs on the deck and beach chairs. The plastic picnic chairs on the deck were fine for morning coffee or dinner outside, but were not comfortable for lounging, reading or an afternoon nap. There was one Adirondack chair that was the most comfortable of all. Additionally, there were no chairs provided for us to bring to sit on the beach. When people are traveling a great distance for a beach vacation, reclining beach chairs would have made a huge difference. Overall our experience was very good but attention to the above details would have enhanced the experience.

Owner's reply: Dave thanks so much, I'm so pleased you enjoyed a month at our home. As you discovered this part of our Island is wonderful...a hidden gem. Honey Girl is still hanging out awaiting the birth of her pup She is Oahu's most famous monk seal, The new book about her just came out and a copy is at the house for future guests to enjoy. Thanks for letting me know about the smoke detector --and the outdoor lights have all been replaced. Warmest Aloha

Just what we wanted. A small cottage on the water and away from the tourists. Watching the sunrise each morning was my favorite. Very peaceful. Can't wait to visit again...

“Wonderful time at the Beach House!”

The Beach House in Hauula is the perfect spot for rest and relaxation! We stayed for 2 weeks at this wonderful beach house and enjoyed every minute. The house is in great condition and was an ideal setup for our family with 2 bedrooms, seperate bathrooms and a loft, which was ideal for the kids. The deck is amazing! Every morning, we would brew our coffee and take in the sunrise from the deck, then walk down the stairs for stroll along the beach. It was wonderful to swim whenever we wanted - the beach is fantastic! There is also a great Sundrie across the street from the house which stocks basic necessities. Additionally, there is a little shop up the street to find all of the souvenirs you need for the family back home. The location for this beach house is away from the city, so if you are looking for a lot of nightlife, you won't find it in this location. However, if you are looking for a quiet area that allows you to absorb Hawaiian culture, this is the place! There are local resturants and shops where we always feel like ohana. We also really enjoy going to the Polynesian Cultural Center, which is only about 5 minutes away from this location, so it was perfect for us. The drive up the north shore from Hauula towards Haleiwa is very scenic (lots of great beaches and sites to see). Since we love going to Haleiwa, this beach house was in the pefect location for us as it was only about a 30 minute drive (we usually make several stops along the way). I would recommend (and have) this beach house to anyone who is looking for a very relaxing vacation. This was our 2nd time staying at one of Deb's properties and we have already requested time for next year. Can't wait!!!
