Description from owner

Perfect getaway to enjoy the sunsets on the lake each night. Would be perfect for snowbirds wanting to get away from the cold and snow in the north during the winter. Private lake where fishing is great. This is a wooded area and the house sits on 1.2 acres.

Canoe and paddles are onsite. You can also launch your own boat from the property.

Roast marshmallows over a camp fire and eat either on the dock or the picnic table.

Enjoy swimming, fishing, and canoeing on a beautiful, private, spring-fed lake.

Disney World or the Orlando area attractions are about a 2 hour drive. Busch Gardens and other Tampa Bay area attractions are about a 2 hour drive

About the area

This gem is tucked away, out of sight from the road, on a nice sized lake. This is a spot where you can lie on the provided picnic table at night and gaze at the stars if you like. You can use the provided canoe on the lake if you so desire, or take the Jon Boat out for some fishing. A very nice place to get away from it all. This lake is situated in a community of 3 lakes. The lake properties are heavily wooded and mostly secluded. It is a 'golf cart community' and ideal for riding bicycles or walking/jogging. There are a number of wild animals and birds in the area, and seeing eagles fishing in the lakes is a common sight. Eagles, ospreys, hawks, swallow-tailed kite birds, and turkeys are abundant, deer, sand hill cranes, and fox are all seen in the community. Thirty-five minutes from the University of Florida. Cyclists: The Gainesville/Hawthorne Bike Trail (Rails to Trails) is located a short 8 miles from the cottage in Hawthorne.

“Beautiful and serene”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2016

My family had a wonderful time at this lakefront home. The home is very nice and had everything stocked that we needed and more. We canoed on the beautiful lake and fished every day.

“So relaxing!”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2016

My nephew and I spent four days at the house for a fishing get away and loved every minute of it. The place is very roomy and comfortable, exceptionally clean, and well stocked with essentials, to include some condiments. The stone work in the showers, and on the exterior of the house, is exceptional. The owner was fine with us using his John boat, but the huge dock also turned out to be a great fishing spot. We took a day off from the water to explore the area...Micanopy is great for antiques and the best bbq at Pearls, off 441; the Rawlings house/park is also a great place to spend a few hours...both places give you a feel for old Florida. We will most definitely return!
