The view from this cottage is one of the best - mountains and the lake! Monica and Ed have thought of many details to make you feel that you are staying at a friend's home, not just a rental unit. This is the place to go to relax and rewind! - Pam and Clay W., Metairie Louisiana"

Above all, we enjoyed the peace of mind that was possible simply because we had rented from excellent owners. Monica and Ed provided everything we would need. Their care for their home transcended to us, the tenants and that meant lots. We highly recommend this home and look forward to returning in the near future. - Raul A."

Owner Supplied Testimonials

I was impressed with Bella Vista before I even arrived. Monica was awesome to deal with, and she provided very detailed information about everything the house and the area had to offer. My husband and I were so excited to spend our holiday season there!

The photos on the listing were stunning, and it was clear that there was plenty to do. I have to say that the photos don't come close to doing the real thing justice, however. The view is enough to tempt me to pack up and move to the area! The environment is so peaceful that we were content to read by the fireplace, sip tea and cook for most of our trip.

We did get out and explore for a bit, and we found the nearby town to be quite progressive for such a rural area. We met some delightful people and enjoyed their conversation. We also went for a couple of nice walks to check out more of the gorgeous scenery.

We can't wait to go back when it's warmer and take advantage of all of the outdoor activities! Everything in the house was well-planned and thoroughly thought through. In addition to the instructions sent prior to our trip, there are detailed instructions posted in various convenient spots in the house.

There are also several binders full of information on the area, which we found very helpful. All in all, this trip was one of the best we've ever taken. I highly recommend Bella Vista. Being there reminded me of how beautiful nature is if I just let myself take time to notice. I came refreshed and ready to tackle the new year with positive energy and appreciation/

This cabin was the perfect spot for a laid-back New Year's Eve! Four of us spent three days at the cabin, watching TV, putting together puzzles, cooking, and playing games. The kitchen was fabulous and fully stocked with all appliances! The cabin was cozy and perfect for 2 couples! Even though it was too cold to go out on the deck, we could enjoy the beautiful mountain views from all over the cabin, thanks to the large windows! You cannot see your neighbors, so it really feels like an exclusive mountain getaway! We can't wait to go back!
~ Brittany C.

My wife and I got away for the long holiday weekend and were fortunate to stay in Bella Vista. It is located on the side of a hill, giving it an amazing and private view of the mountains and lake from virtually the entire house. We enjoyed the house, the fireplace, the fully stocked home with nearly anything you can think of at your fingertips, and the surrounding area. We ate at some wonderful restaurants and visited some local wineries in and around Hiawassee and Young Harris. In short, we had a great time in this very relaxing and peaceful gem of a home. We certainly will find some time to return!
~ Douglas C.

My fiancee and I wanted to go on a relaxing trip for her birthday, and needless to say our time at Bella Vista was amazing. Our every need was met and we could not have asked for better hosts than Monica and Ed. Monica was amazing to deal with and she provides you every detail and piece of information you could possibly need.
The views and surrounding area are absolutely beautiful, and the house itself is clearly very special to Monica and Ed, as this shines through in how at home you feel while you are there. You can easily spend all day inside by the fire or looking out over the mountains sitting on the porch, and be completely content doing so.
Thank you so much again, Monica and Ed, for a peaceful and hospitable weekend. I can't rave enough about how great of a time we had and we cannot wait to return!
~ Ryan

We all get caught up in the drudge of day to day business. I was in much need of a break, mostly to regain my sanity. This weekend was JUST what the Dr. ordered! The cabin is impeccable, extremely clean & neat (which is very important to me). And the view is unparalleled! To wake up & see the incredible view & have coffee on the porch with fresh mountain air - watching birds & squirrels scamper around- was so healing & relaxing.

We hiked around the mountain every day- it was great exercise but not too difficult. A huge kitchen that I would love to have at home made making meals a pleasure. The little touches like coffee & all the accoutrements made me feel like I was at home.

There were even games at the house that we played all night to add to the laughter and fun. By Sunday I felt completely reinvigorated & ready to give the reality grind another go. It was clean, comfortable and luxurious all at once & I can't wait to go back again! Thank you for a terrific stay!
~ Mrs. H. Arnold

What a wonderful house, I can't wait to return. The views are simply beautiful, huge windows overlooking the lake and the mountains. Tastefully decorated, all the modern conveniences of home, fully stocked game chest, books, cable TV, wireless internet, etc.. For those who love to cook, the kitchen has lots of spices and all those things you don't want to pack up for a weekend but don't want to cook without. Even during winter, we enjoyed sitting on the deck for the sunset, watching the birds that came to say hello. Good hiking if you want to leave the house but there is no reason to do that! I want to stay a week next time.
~ Peggy O.

Bella Vista is simply the nicest vacation home my family and I have experienced. From the perfectly stocked kitchen and pantry to the luxurious linens, Monica's attention to detail is apparent.

The house was spotless upon our arrival, with an abundance of freshly laundered towels, robes, and linens. The house itself is lovely, and well situated with a view that stops you in your tracks. I can't think of a better spot to have watched 400 million years of geology and history in action.

In other words, like other spots in Appalachia, Bella Vista's view seems timeless, except that it changes with every variation in light and temperature throughout the day. And at night the low light pollution means that there are thousands of stars in the sky. We could've spent our entire trip on Monica's deck.

The property is well cared for, and the location is convenient to the lake, groceries (Bacchus Wine Shoppe - Hiawassee is a beer and wine only town, so bring your own spirits) and the various hikes and 4WD climbs that the area offers. We traveled with our 4 year old boy, and while we never bothered to turn on the TV, he was well occupied with the lake, the birds, and a handful of Hot Wheels cars, so any parents should feel confident that Bella Vista is for families of a certain type anyway.

While you won't find a huge TV or an air hockey table at Bella Vista, you will find a home away from home, as well as the best of what our portion of Appalachia offers: mountains, mountains erupting from the lake, tons of water splashing its way to lower ground, a bald eagle or two, and extremely hospitable locals.
~ Mark

Working with Monica was a pleasure and the home is an oasis. Location was perfect, the view was a dream, and the fact that there was only one other house on the road was sooo peaceful. It was especially nice that when we got groceries I didn't have to by herbs and spices or non-stick spray. Everything you need is there. We will be back! ~ David and Ginger

We have been coming to this area for the past 9 years but Bella Vista is the most beautiful to visit. I would recommend it to any one who loves a place to just relax and enjoy life. We spent a month this year and have already made our plans for another month next year.
~ Obie

The "best" can only describe this home, Bella Vista. I/we found everything in pristine condition and the "extras" in the kitchen and bathroom were definitely a cut above the average. The owners pay very close attention to little details. Our brief stay will hopefully be extended next time...which will happen again, we agreed. The coupon book for nearby activities is such a nice little treat; we took in a winery and enjoyed seeing more of the mountain town charm.
~ Patti

If you are looking for a great secluded weekend with wonderful views all within a couple hour drive of Atlanta. Monica is a fabulous host... Just the right amount of contact. Go and enjoy this wonderful property relax and recharge. If you need anything go to Ingals grocery store they have everything you need to make your great!
~ Tom

What a relaxing way to spend Thanksgiving. The views will take your breath away. We even got snow on Thanksgiving morning and it was so nice to have a nice warm fireplace to help warm things up. Monica and Ed have thought of everything to help make our stay special. Attention to detail was great. Loved having everything in the kitchen to make cooking a breeze. We are already making plans to another visit soon. Monica and Ed, thanks again for everything. :-)
~ Terry

We have rented many cabins through the years. Belle Vista was by far one of the nicest, cleanest, well stocked cabins we have stayed in. It is in a very private setting. We spent everyday getting out and about in the surrounding towns, and at the cabin sitting on the porches enjoying the views and the peace and quiet. We even had the oppurtunity to see 13 deers (yes I said 13) all at once they were cutting through the property following each other.

We live in the country and have many deer on our property but we have never saw 13 at one time actually following each other :) If you are looking for a quiet get away with beautiful surroundings this is the cabin.

Monica was very easy to work with making reservations and even sent a text after we had arrived to make sure we arrived safetly and everything was ok with the cabin :) We will sure to be back in the very near future. We have found a new favorite spot in the mountains.
~ Shawn V.

Simply put, Bella Vista is very special. Thank you for sharing it with us. We truly hope to return. We have had a wonderful vacation! Every day has been most enjoyable! Nils said he thinks he is going to experience withdrawal when he goes back to work on Monday.

We began each day with a cup of coffee from the loft view in bed. Breakfast was a fresh mango, lime, banana, and pineapple smoothie on the balcony watching the butterflies and birds. We took a 3-mile walk along the Chatuge Dam walking trail each day and then we drove over to the TVA Recreation Area and sat by the lake.

We happily dined on Happy Hawg or burgers and milkshakes from the Best Lil' Corner. It's been rough!

One evening while we were enjoying the view while sitting on the deck, a deer walked into the yard from the flower garden. We stayed very still and watched him graze up the side of the yard towards the house. I don't know if that happens often, but it was a treat for us! We cleaned the hummingbird feeders and made new food for them…so much fun to watch those little guys. We feel refreshed, and we thank you for your kindness and generosity.
~ 54Chevy

From the moment we stepped foot into Bella Vista it felt as if we were transported into another world, far away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta and Los Angeles (our respective homes). From the breathtaking mountain views, to the beautiful flowers, and every little cozy detail in between, we were left totally speechless at the ambiance that was all around us.

We could have easily spent every waking moment sitting on the deck (which we did at times) but also ventured out to explore some of the beautiful surrounding areas as well. One evening we enjoyed an exquisite dinner at the Copper Door which was one of the best steaks I've had in my life and followed up by a showing at the planetarium in Young Harris which were both great recommendations by the owner Monica.

The next day we took a scenic day trip down to Helen and stopped for a picnic in Unicoi State Park. Everything about the trip was magical, even a week later and I'm still reflecting on how wonderful it was. The only problem, it went by too fast and we couldn't see everything. This just gives us all the more reason to make a return visit in the future.

Thank You again Monica for being so hospitable and making this one of the most the most memorable times of our lives. We will never forget our weekend at Bella Vista :)
~ Andrew S.

Our stay was wonderful! The house was beautiful and the back deck was great for watching the beautiful view. I mean the view is amazing! Enjoyed the bird feeder and the hummingbirds also. We are already planning our next visit. Would highly recommend this place! Thank you Monica for everything!
~ Stephanie B.

Bella Vista is a wonderful property in excellent condition, with fantastic views. There is great privacy and yet the home is only minutes away from the lake and Hayesville. The owners have taken great pride in how the home is appointed, and in providing plenty of kitchen and bathroom supplies and the extras that travelers sometimes forget to bring. A great option for couples or smaller groups up to 4 people. - M.W.

If you are looking for peace, rest, and recharge then this is the place for you! Bella Vista was a perfect long weekend get away for two couples. The layout of the villa provides plenty of common space in well-stocked kitchen, dining area, family spot, and porch. The bedrooms and baths on separate floors provided solace and privacy when desired. We spent several days enjoying the perfect weather, sights around the lake, mountains roads, local vineyards, and homey restaurants. We also enjoyed a stay-and-play night in the villa with the grill and games. Monica touched base and made sure all our needs were met! Our trip was "just what the doctor ordered!" Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home!
~ Karen and Don

My siblings and I had a wonderful rental experience at Bella Vista over Father's Day weekend. Monica has been such a delight to work with. She responds quick to emails and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect! The house was very clean and included more amenities than most rentals do. There was plenty of space for my brother, sister and I. And the view is just unbelievable! I loved waking up to it :) Our parents recently moved to Hiawassee, GA and I'm so glad I have a new home away from home at Bella Vista! It's the perfect getaway for families and friends of all ages. Can't wait to visit soon!
~ Katie Z.

It's hard to express how awesome this place was. Needing to get away from the hustle and bustle and clear my head, I actually went alone. I was a bit worried at first but felt completely at ease as soon as I walked in the door. Leading up to the trip, Monica was absolutely superb in offering assistance and information pertinant to the stay and the area. The accomodations were absolutely lovely and the view was beyond words. So nice to stay in such a well-appointed rental with ALL the luxuries of home (maybe even MORE). I will without a doubt be back.
~ Cheryl from Dwell By Cheryl

Bella Vista was a very comfortable and well appointed vacation home - the directions and the drive to the home were extremely accurate and easy to follow. We were able to enjoy the picturesque views from the balcony every day and appreciated the relative convenience to various restaurants, wineries, hiking and biking trails.

It is a very easy drive to Brasstown Bald and the town of Blue Ridge! We visited "The Blue Otter"(in Hiawassww, Ga) for lunch several times, "Anejo Grill" (in Hayesville, NC) served up some very tasty and generous portions of Mexician cuisine-we highly recommend visiting them for dinner! Do stop by Hightower Creek Vineyards in Hiawassee-you will enjoy the wine tastings and the friendliness of this family owned business.

We had an excellent vacation! Thank you again to the owners of BELLA VISTA for sharing your lovely home with us (and also for you promptness in returning texts, email, etc!) and would certainly recommend your home as it is one of the best places we have stayed in the N. Ga./N.C. area! We hope to be able to return next year!
~ Audrey R.

Bella Vista is an excellent vacation getaway. Easy access, with breathtaking views, comfortable furnishings and is well stocked with amenities. Monica thinks of everything and provides for an unforgetable stay. Great restaurants are nearby - Mary's Southern Grill for breakfast. Brasstown Valley Resort dining room, Coper Door and The Chophouse of Hiawassee for dinner were all fantastic. Crane Creek Vineyards has an enjoyable wine tasting and an outdoor area to sit, sip and enjoy the view of the vineyard. Brasstown Bald has an amazing view from the observation deck and several hiking trails. Finally, Chunky Gal Stables provided a horseback riding adventure that should not be missed. All in all Bella Vista is an outstanding home away from home.
~ Kelly and John W.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do you provide food and basic supplies when so many other rental homes don't?
A: Bella Vista is not just an investment property; it's our home and we love it very much. We believe you should be able to show up with little more than your clothing, just as you would if you were going to stay with a friend. We provide paper products, all bed and bath linens, pantry staples, coffee, tea, trash bags and much more. In return, we expect you to lovingly care for our home and our things as if you were staying at a friend's house. Many of our guests come back again and again because we make our home so welcoming.
Q: Is your home kid or pet-friendly?
A: We keep our home animal-free out of respect to your guests who may have allergies. If you bring very young children be mindful that we don't have children of our own, so our home isn't child-proofed or child-centered in any fashion. Nothing is locked up except our own personal clothing and supplies. Cleaning products and garden chemicals and tools are all accessible.
Q: We'd like privacy! Are there neighbors?
A: Nope! We're on 3.5 acres and our only neighbor is up behind us on the mountain. You can't see their house from our house. You can prance around on the deck in your undies if ya wanted to! (Not that we've ever done that...) Heehee. ;-)
Q: Are there things to do when the weather isn't good?
A: We provide a selection of books, magazines, DVD movies, and board games for our guests to enjoy. We enjoy sitting indoors looking at the view, no matter what the weather is like! In the spring and summer, we enjoy watching a rain storm from beneath the covered porch.
Q: I don't have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Is it easy to get to your home?
A: Our home is an easy 2-hour drive from Atlanta, Chattanooga, Asheville and Greenville. Our mountain community is upscale and all roads are easy to traverse. Four-wheel drive isn't necessary!
Q: Will we see wildlife at your home?
A: You might! We have all kinds of wildlife in the vicinity, however most of the time the animals stay hidden. You may see a few deer in the yard and turkeys often come filing through single file. Of course there may be a squirrel or raccoon and you'll for SURE see birds! In the summertime the hummingbirds provide all the entertainment you can imagine. Regarding WILDlife... we used to have bears show up on a regular basis. However, after switching out regular trash cans for a large bear-proof outdoor trash can a few years ago, the bears have pretty much stopped showing up because they know the buffet is closed.
Q: How close are you to Lake Chatuge?
A: The entrance to our community is just one half-mile from the Chatuge Cove Marina. There is also a nice little beach area, public boat ramp and easy flat hiking trails at Jackrabbit Mountain Recreation Area, which is a 3-minute drive.
Q: Can we get an early check-in?
A: If our cleaning service is able to make the house ready for you early, we'll let you know! If you don't hear from us that the house is ready early, please assume that check-in time is 3:00 pm.
Q: What do we do if we have questions during our stay?
A: We are always available by phone or text message for your questions. Please feel welcome to call or text at any time of day or night!
Q: We're foodies! Where can we eat locally?
A: Glad you asked! The Copper Door is just six miles away and it's on par with any fine dining establishment in Atlanta. Make a reservation though!
Q: Why don't you have any guest reviews?
A: That's a good question! We DO have over 70 five-star reviews, but they don't show up here because they exist on another spot and the two sites aren't linked. To see our reviews just use a popular search tool and look for "Bella Vista Cottage Hayesville NC" and it will be at the top of the page.
