Description of the Hernando Beach vacation home rental
SPRING BREAK! LOOKING FOR A NICE WARM POOL? YOU FOUND IT! If you are looking for a very nice home, super clean, wonderful location, etc. You just got lucky!! Check our feedback, we care, we are local and you will love this house!!! Check the photos out! The forecast for the winter up north is cold!!!!!!

You are now looking at the best value in Hernando Beach. Compare our home, the features and price you will see it is the best deal going. A perfect place to get away for a week, a month, or several months. All you need to pack are your clothes and personal items (fishing tackle and your boat if you have one).

The kitchen, master bedroom, Dining Area, Screened Lanai & Pool, outdoor entertaining areas, sea wall and dock all offer views of the main channel that leads directly into the Gulf of Mexico. You can enjoy your favorite water sport from your own dock. In the evening and early morning can watch the shrimp boats come and go. Or you can stand in the solar heated pool enjoying your favorite beverage watching the boats leaving for the flats or gulf. Bring your boat and follow them out as you go out to see the beautiful sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. You can charter a fishing boat for guided inshore and offshore adventures from the nearby marina, venture offshore for grouper fishing on a party boat, rent a boat, pontoon boat, jet ski, or kayak locally. You will have a 24 foot floating dock right outside the back door. You can also fish off the dock (all kinds of fish come through the channel with the change of tides), or just relax on the back deck and enjoy the slow pace of Florida living. This place is perfect for the naturalist, birdwatcher, and photographer.

If you enjoy people watching you will enjoy sitting on the outside deck at one of the local restaurants watching the boats, kayaks, canoes, boats, fish and in the winter Manatees going past on the crystal clear Weeki Wachee River while you enjoy lunch, dinner or your favorite beverage. All of this is 10 minutes from your front door.

For a change of pace, there are numerous golf courses nearby, including some championship courses. Two of our local public courses are rated 9th & 48th in the country. With over 20 to choose from you will be busy if you’re a golfer. If you want to visit Florida, especially if you want to escape the long, cold Northern winter - and stay in a countryside, waterfront, but convenient location...this is the place to be.

The home has a premium king size bed in the master bedroom. Each of the two other bedrooms have two premium twin beds. The master bath has both a walk in shower and a oversize soaking tub. The hall bath (between the two smaller bedrooms) has a tub shower. The large laundry room has a washer and dryer. There are two TV's each with a DVD player & VCR. The family room also has a complete stereo with Bose speakers and there is an additional stereo on the lanai for your enjoyment while relaxing in the pool, rear deck or on the covered & screened Lanai.

A popular pastime in the late afternoon is watching the shrimp boats going past the home on their way to work in the Gulf of Mexico. If it is not shrimp boats, or crab boats going past the home there are the local boaters alway something to watch!
Area Information
Hernando Beach is a rural, residential Gulf Coast town with world class fishing. The area is famous as Tarpon Country-but there’s grouper, snapper, snook, and redfish, too). Nature and wildlife preserves surround Hernando Beach. The beautiful sunsets, white sand beach of Pine Island, numerous fishing parks and the nearby Weeki Wachee Springs Water Park make it an ideal vacation or winter retreat. Enjoy fine dining in the town’s local establishments (seafood like you have only dreamed about!) or in the national restaurant chains nearby on US 19. Convenient shopping also abounds on US 19. A new Super Walmart is 10-minutes from your front door.

The home is located 60+ minutes from Tampa International Airport, and 90+ minutes from Orlando, Disney World, Universal Studios, Wet & Wild, Sea World and Busch Gardens. So you can still "do it all" and have a quiet, clean, comfortable home when it is time to unwind. After all what is a vacation if you don't relax some?

PERFECT in EVERY regard!

January 4, 2016

We have rented many nice houses before and consider our expectations rather high. This house has met or raised most of our "being very spoiled and picky" expectations! - The neighborhood is very quiet and private. - Location has Walmart for groceries and several restaurants for food within 5 minute car ride - Weekie Wachie river (with kayak rentals) access within a few minutes car ride - Parking the car and trailer next to the house without any problems - powerboat launching from boat ramp within sight of house - daily powerboat and own kayaks storage, docking and launching from your own floating dock could not be easier! - heated pool and tons of covered seating within screened in porch - spacious house and rooms with great floor plan for privacy as well as entertainment - super equipped and comfortable kitchen with EVERITHING you could possibly need - LAST not LEAST a VERY demanding German wife loved the house especially because it was not only super comfortable but also VERY, VERY CLEAN (including the appliances)!!! Without any reservation, this house is a keeper and deserves 5+ STARS! P.S.: It has reasonable speed wifi internet connection throughout the house good enough to browse the web and check emails (however marginal to stream movies or do remote computer networking) ... However, the flat screen TV's and DVD players with a large free DVD movie collection available in several rooms make more than up for that.

Great first experience!

November 3, 2014

My husband and I stayed in this home for a little over a week. It was our first time renting a vacation home, but it certainly won't be the last! This property was very well maintained. The home and the patio areas were clean and even better than the pictures indicated. We didn't have any issues, but the owner was very responsive to the couple of questions we had. We had a wonderful, relaxing time - we sure miss that pool!

Owner's reply:

I am so glad you enjoyed our home and your time in what we call "paradise". Please come back again and we do look forward to your next stay. You left our home in great condition! It was almost like you were not there.... If you ever need a reference from a "landlord", just ask. You were what Anne and I try to be, a respectful guest! That says a great deal about you as a couple.

Thanks, John & Anne

PS: The pool is still warm, even after our cold snap.........

Hernando Beach

July 10, 2012

This place was UNBELIEVABLE! The peace and quiet in the evenings...except for watching the shrimp boats go out between 5:30 & 7:30pm...and you could hear them come in at 3:30am...which was neat to watch and drink coffee...Also the pool was magnificent...I am a beach person...there are smaller beaches nearby but we drove to Tampa and Clearwater in which the drive was not that bad...This place had all the comforts of home!!!!!! Once your find your way around...everything is really close by...Walmart, convenient stores...on the weekends the canal is super busy and it was more "FUN" to watch all the boaters and Jet ski's go by then going to the beach! Also the owner, our sea captiain for a day, John, was absolutely wonderful. We arriveded late but had his cell and home number to reach him and he was very helpful and thorough. We would lvoe to stay here again and would love to move here...if you dont have a GPS it is hard to find, but it is one of the BEST HIDDEN PLACES TO STAY!

Owner's reply:

Susan, I am so happy you had a great time.... Hernando Beach is such a special place.... please come back again and we will look forward to your next visit......

Great Vacation Getaway!

August 14, 2011

We chose this home over many others in the area for our vacation this year and we were very happy and satisfied. The house has a good floor plan and worked out well for our family. The owner is very accommodating and stocked the house with every convenience. If you forgot it, it's probably already there. We lived in the outdoor area with the pool and lots of covered seating. It was fun to watch the shrimp boats and other leisure craft come through on their way out to the Gulf. We fished and crabbed off the dock. The house is centrally located for local attractions and those in Tampa and Orlando. Would highly recommend this house for rental. You would be hard pressed to find a comparable for the money.

We recently stayed in this rental while in Florida and were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the property. Everything was there for us. The only things we had to purchase were groceries and fishing bait. Loved sitting outside in the morning having coffee and watching the shrimp boats come in from the ocean. Quiet & Relaxing. . . Will definately recommend it to our friends and family!!

Review of home

January 4, 2010

We rented this house between Christmas and the New Year and were VERY happy. The house is clean, functional and spacious. The pool is nice and has a great view over the canals. The home is a short distance from the Gulf and all the nature parks. Shopping is close by ... and also the Mermaids show! The owners are very helpful and friendly and good people.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Wow! This is a great place to relax, unwind, and kick back. If you are into the "action" of a city, the hustle and all that this is not your place. This home is just that, a home...clean, well set up for you to enjoy.... the water is the key, shrimp boats and most of the other boat traffic go past the home. From the pool or the Lanai.......you have a front row seat. Weeki Wachee river is less than 5-minutes, the famous Pine Island is about 15-minutes. Don't feel in the middle of no where....you are but all you need is less than 10-minutes... Super Walmart, Publix, Target, etc.

This is, no joke a deal....... Hernando Beach is wonderful, quiet, peaceful, calm and laid back......this house has vacation all over it.

This is the first time we had ever rented a house to stay in while on vacation (we always stayed in hotels) and I have to say that out of all the choices/options we were very very lucky at what we chose. A week is not enough time to spend here. Our kids loved fishing off the dock while watching the porpoise and stingray swim past. The setting is ideal for a real vacation away from the hustle and bustle of your typical spring break chaos. The owner was more than helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had a good time and everything we needed. We miss being there already and can't wait to come back! =)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Boating, PWC, Kayaking down the Weeki Wachee River, paddle boards, etc?
A: Hernando Beach is a canal front community on the Gulf of Mexico. We have a small commercial fishing fleet of fishing boats that go out to the gulf to catch: Stone Crab, Shrimp, fish and almost anything that swims in the Gulf of Mexico. Most of those boats go past our home "on the way to work". That alone is a fun activity, watching theme go to work while your enjoy your favorite beverage standing in the pool!
Q: We are located in a quiet, laid back water front community. It is family friendly, our guest tell us while with us life in the home revolves around the Lanai, pool, patio, deck & dock.?
A: Hernando Beach at one time was a salt water marsh. That changed when the people that owned the marsh and thousands of acres inland of the salt water marsh (now Hernando Beach) made Hernando Beach’s canal system and formed the peninsulas on the canals that makes up the building lots in Hernando Beach.

I was told this occurred during the 1950’s; please correct me if you have the real history. The way the story was conveyed to me: Mr. Sasser’s company had the contract to provide the lime rock (road base in this area) when the expanded US 19 in the area from 2-lanes to 4-lanes.

The way the story goes when his drag lines (big excavator type machines) were not digging lime rock for the road expansion they were in the marsh making Hernando Beach. If look at an on line maps and look at the satellite view of the area you will see large “lakes”, that were lime rock pits just east of Hernando Beach. After the work was done, the pits were dug, etc. Some how the land east of Hernando Beach ended up a state park (don’t know that history… if you do please fill it in).

The nice part, we are surrounded by a park; nothing will be built east of Hernando Beach for miles. We have a wonderful slice of the Gulf Coast and have the best of both worlds. If we want to go into civilization (I will call our Super Wal-Mart that) we can be there in 10-minutes. But unless you live here, are a boater the uses our boat ramps, like our wonderful restaurants, out for a drive or are lost we don’t have to deal with the traffic and other negative things about the communities near Hernando Beach.

I have lived and worked all over the world. If you like relaxed, salt water, slow paced life and no pressure to do anything you don’t’ want to do, you are going to want to stay here….. Don’t cut your grass every week, who cares! Park your boat trailer in your driveway, who cares! When the crime report comes out weekly in the paper, it is rare anything happens to make the paper…. We are lucky, we have several Sheriff’s deputy’s that live in the area, the bad guys may be dumb, but they are smart enough to not do stupid stuff where the law lives. Add to that the people here are good people, honest, hard working and that make all the difference in the world.
Q: I like to play Golf. Are there any local places I can play???
A: There are 26 golf courses within the area one, World of Woods is rated in the top 100 public courses in the USA.
You can play a different one every day for almost a month
