Area Information
Warm sunny days, COOL starry nights, puffy, white clouds in the blue, blue sky, noisy, rushing streams, misty mornings and the occasional crashing thunderstorm. Catskills Summer! Our first hard frost is usully in the last week of September, when the colors befin to turn in earnest. Don't miss our SPECTACULAR FALL FOLIAGE!

Located in a secret hollow inside Catskill Park on the flank of Belleayre Mountain, across the road is another privately-owned 3000' undeveloped forested mountain and stream. The dead end lane we're on is very quiet, few cars; people walk and bike past occasionally, occasional tractor, or snow plow in winter. It's plowed and well-maintained; no need for 4-wheel drive to get here, usually! *** There is no smoking anywhere inside. :) ***

The secluded cabin is set on a couple of acres of meadow and trees with woods on 2 sides, in a forested mountain hollow. Road follows the stream and dead ends in 200,000 acres of constitutionally-protected "forever wild" NY State forest preserve. The mountain across the lane is undeveloped to the top. No one lives on that side for at least 1/4 mile in each direction from the cottage--no lights or roads up the mountain, no neighbors opposite. There are three small family farms along the road (dairy, hay) and a couple of weekend houses up the hillside behind the cottage.

Except for noisy stream and songbirds it's very quiet, during the week especially, with bright moon, stars and meteors. Wildlife abounds--song birds everywhere! Hummingbirds fight over honeysuckle on the deck in summer.

At any time, depending on the season, in the yard or along the road you might see a raccoon, deer, wild turkey, rabbit, trout, woodchuck, mink, ermine, eagle, hawk, porcupine, possum, skunk, bat, dragonflies, butterflies, fireflies, squirrels, flying squirrels, chipmunks, etc. Or even glimpse a fox, martin, bobcat, coyote, fisher or black bear. Birds include chickadees, finches, titmouse, nuthatches, sparrows, juncos, brown creeper, towhees, hawks, grosbeaks, indigo bunting, thrushes, warblers, woodpeckers, crows, swallows, bluebirds, orioles, jays, blackbirds, crows, etc., occasionally great blue herons, wood ducks, pileated woodpecker, eagle, kingfisher and others.

The hiking trail head is one mile up at the dead end--trails start out gently and go up to Belleayre, Balsam Mountain loop, Eagle, and even to Slide Mountain. Good trail maps in the cottage. Plenty of other hikes and swimming holes nearby.

Home Away From Home

September 21, 2016

We stayed at this cottage for the weekend mid-September and it was perfect! It's like staying at a family member's house; all the amenities were there and the owners were greeted us as if we were old friends. The grounds were quiet and contained a walking path that took you around the property. In the background you can hear the creek across the road. It is also close to many great hiking spots and several places to grab a bite. I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage to anyone that would like to getaway from the bustle of daily life and busy routines.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

John and Julie were so, so welcoming to us (& our dog!) when we arrived. They walked us through the entire grounds of the property and pointed everything out that we'd need to know and made sure we were all set before disappearing to their own home, which neighbors the cottage. They left us completely alone, but it was a nice feeling knowing they were close by if anything were to go awry because the area is quite secluded. We even ended up staying an extra night because we were so comfortable. Thanks guys!!
July 2014

The cottage and the area were everything they were advertised to be! Close to hiking, great porch for BBQ and relaxing, cozy accommodations.
John and Julie were gracious hosts, meeting us at the house in the middle of a driving rainstorm.
I absolutely recommend this place for a weekend getaway in the Catskills!
May 2014

Perfect spot for a quiet getaway! The well-stocked fireplace kept us cozy on chilly April nights and the nearby hiking trails were beautiful in the day. Our dog had a great time sniffing out wildlife in the woods. Julie and John were great hosts - never pushy but always right there when I couldn't figure out how to light the grill. ;-) Be sure to stop by The Creamery down the road for fantastic gelato. We will definitely be back.
April 2014

We had a great time at John & Julie's cat skill cottage. They were very warm, friendly couple and had every thing set up before we arrived (we even did a early check-in on Easter weekend ). They showed us around their property and even fixed a swing by going out of the way so our kids can enjoy. The cottage is small and cozy and toasty due to beautiful fireplace next to a big lazy arm chair (kids loved it). Fully equipped kitchen in case anyone interested in cooking .The cottage is in a nice, relaxed peaceful location next to a running stream. You will enjoy the quietness of the place and warmth of the hosts. had a good time!!
April 2014

Renting Julie & John's cabin for the weekend was a great decision! My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 6-month anniversary, and we could not have asked for a more romantic and cozy experience. The fireplace is a gem. Julie and John keep what seems like an endless supply of tea lights on hand. The fully loaded kitchen allowed us to cook delicious meals. The Christmas lights that adorn the windows of the enclosed patio are a festive and pretty accessory to the cabin's overall charm. We watched their Harry Potter movie collection, listened to their diverse compilation of CDs and enjoyed some of their books, as well. While we did not get a chance to meet Julie, John was extremely helpful and gracious as he showed us around upon our arrival. Thereafter, we had complete privacy with the knowledge that if we needed anything, they were an email or phone call away. Great hosts!
March 2014

My husband, pup and I had a very relaxing stay at John and Julie's cabin. John and Julie were great hosts, close enough if you need anything, but mindful of privacy. They are always available via email or telephone and sent us lots of helpful tips, directions, etc. The cabin is clean and had everything we needed - and of course it is very cozy by the fire. We didn't venture out too far this time but would love to take advantage of the trails next time around. The surrounding location looks beautiful. John and Julie--thanks from the 3 of us for such a perfect weekend getaway.
February 2014

John and Julie are super thoughtful and knowledgeable hosts! And I was delighted to find the cottage had Christmas lights. They offered alternate driving directions for icy weather and made sure we got reservations at the best restaurant before it was all booked for the holidays. We enjoyed the chickadees singing outside as we were snug in the cottage in negative temperatures. Our cat was in bliss by the fire. I never heard him purr so much! We could walk to trails, cook with onions from their garden, and when it was time to head out, it was such a pleasant surprise to see John had already been by with the snow blower :) My only regret is that we didn't sample Julie's cookies... So we'll have to go back!
January 2014

We spent 4 unforgettable nights in this cabin. It is really an incredible place. The cabin is very well maintained and it has all the basic things you will need. The coldest night we had was about 10F and we did not feel a little bit of cold inside the cabin. It has a very powerful and adjustable chimney and heaters. The water has excellent pressure and it is hot. Wifi does works for cellphones and computers.
It is far from civilization, but just enough! There is a town at 15 minutes driving with a very good market, pharmacy, gas and basic stores. This is perfect because you can have a good nature time but at the same time if you need some grocery or something you can always drive quickly to the town.
There are a couple of restaurants nearby (all within 30-40 minutes driving) that are really outstanding.
And last, but not least, the owners. John and Julie are an extremely friendly and awesome couple. They will give you every single instruction you can imagine: how to get there, what to do, what to eat! everything!. Also they will make sure you have everything you need in the cabin.
We will come back to this cabin many more times in the future.
December 2013

It was wonderful. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Their directions to the cabin were perfect, and as soon as we arrived they gave us a tour of the cabin so we'd feel at home.
The cabin itself is great. The fireplace really warms things up, the seats are really comfy, and it's just a great place to relax. They also have a collection of good books that guests are free to browse.
Outside the cabin, the nearby hiking trails are a great getaway from the city. We had a great time on our hike.
It was a great weekend, and we'd definitely go again.
November 2013

This Catskills cottage is cozy, well-located, and has everything you need. My boyfriend and I spent an incredible weekend here, sitting by the fire, hiking on the nearby trails, cooking and stargazing. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Julie and John are well-seasoned hosts. They provide everything you need, including firewood, and even fall fruits from trees on the property. They were extremely nice and helpful, and you can tell they really love hosting. They are also extremely knowledgable about the area and are more than willing to answer any questions you have. Don't overthink it -- book this place! The magic of the Catskills, and Julie and John's amazing hospitality awaits!
November 2013
John and Julie are fantastic hosts. They gave us a very nice tour of their property, and supplied us with endless firewood--even had the fire going when we arrived! Julie picked all sorts of vegetables from her garden for us, and let us pick from her apple tree! We were a miles walk form beautiful trails, and also enjoyed lounging by the fire/watching movies at night. John and Julie are very warm and welcoming people. We feel very lucky and to have had such incredible hosts and such an sweet/cozy cottage at our disposal for a few days. We will definitely return! Thanks again, J&J!!
October 2013

What a charming cozy cottage and a lovely weekend! We were greeted by wonderful hosts John & Julie right away after being given perfect directions and info on what was available in the house so we'd be prepared (you wont need anything!!! It's fully outfitted and the house has everything but your own clothes. It's a peaceful and serene setting and SO LOVELY right now to visit in the fall. And its just a few minutes (possibly 5) to Belleayre for skiing and events. Talk about easy! Great markets nearby and lovely towns. We were fortunate enough to be able to be "gifted" fruits and veggies from John & Julie's bountiful gardens, resulting in amazing meals all weekend... Streams, hiking and leaf peeping abound. Nights by the fireside are perfect in their faultless fireplace/woodstove. We felt right at home and can't wait to be back in a few months when the snow might show us another beautiful scene. Baby dear laying down and cuddling in nearby meadows, turkeys, rabbits, bucks - it's great. Need I say more? Just go, relax & enjoy.
September 2013

John and Julie's cottage was a dream! What a perfect location, nestled between a clear flowing stream and a rambling hillside, just minutes from pristine mountain trails. We lounged on the lawns, grilling up fresh veggies from the garden. We ambled round the garden paths, picking apples and blueberries. We hiked through the neighboring forest preserve and even found, based on Julie's hot tip, a very secret local swimming hole at the base of a gorgeous waterfall!
Inside of the cabin was just as nice as the outside. An awesome music selection set the mood for late nights by the fire. A perfectly clean and well stocked kitchen, complete with a basket of hand picked veggies and herbs from the garden, helped make our meals taste extra delicious. The bedroom is as cute as can be; we fell asleep to the sound of a cool mountain stream under all those stars.
Our hosts could not have been more accommodating, we received very thorough emails before our trip, detailing every aspect of the cabin and the surrounding area. Julie was available throughout our stay, and would have certainly helped us with any questions or concerns (but of course we didn't have any, because she already thought of everything!). Our only complaint is that we could not stay longer!
September 2013

We absolutely loved the cottage! John & Julie were such warm and welcoming hosts! They gave us a tour of their beautiful property and even guided us through their garden to pick fresh vegetables and herbs to cook with through out our stay. The creek running across the street is lovely and can be heard throughout the cottage which is so soothing to sleep to at night. The cottage is very clean and has all the fix ins that you will need for your stay. Our dog loved running in the front yard and hiking through the trails which are just down the road. My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay here, It was the perfect getaway from the city!
August 2013

Julie and John we wonderful hosts. They gave us a tour of the property when we arrived, which we really enjoyed.
They have a really nice cottage, fully stocked with everything you could need, very comfortable place to hang out, make dinner, watch movies, read, etc.. Moreover the grounds of the property were just pristine, with so many places to sit and relax, enjoy the sound of the creek, beautiful flowers, and completely private. Very peaceful place to spend a weekend/week. Hiking just down the street was also gorgeous (pretty moss-covered forrest with a creek running through it). We loved our stay there.
August 2013

My lady and my 9 months old had a swell time in the mountains. If your desire is to be in a remote locale, this is your choice. Clean, comfortable and quiet. J and J are great. The gardens!! Did I mention the fresh produce I was eating compliments of these wonderful acres? I will return for sure. High marks across the board. Oh and that shower is totally rad!
July 2013
This cottage is beautiful! My fiancé, our dog and I had an amazing time during our stay here. Needless to say, John & Julie are perfect hosts. They greeted us upon our arrival and showed us the property, where everything was and the house instructions, but gave us our space and privacy during our stay. The cottage is charming, homey and comfortable. The surroundings are spectacular- beautiful trees and nature in general. Our dog had the best time just running around and hiking. We would definitely like to come again and stay here. Thank you John & Julie for everything!
July 2013

We stayed at John's and Julie's 3 nights for 4th of July. We had the most wonderful time; cooked outside, tried some veggies from Julie's garden, listen to a great music collection and watched movies at night (Star Wars a must!). We went to Margaretville to see fireworks.
It was perfect. Very clean, peaceful and lovely cabin; comfortable beds, nice big bathroom.
We lost electricity for couple of hours and John and Julie were right there thinking of every detail to make sure we were o.k.
Great experience, we definitely are looking forward to go back. Thank you for everything!
July 2013

The cabin was great, as were Julie & John. The fireplace was awesome, and the cabin were very warm and cozy. Plenty of firewood was provided, the kitchen was well stocked with everything minus the food, and it was clean and well kept. You can't really ask for anything more.
Julie and John were very responsive before our trip, gave good driving directions, and provided nice recommendations for hiking and other activities. Thanks guys!
March 2013

This was a wonderful place to stay for the weekend. Non-stop snow flurries, a warm fireplace and a great jazz cd collection made this a perfect getaway. John and Julie were perfect hosts and made us feel comfortable and welcome. The cabin was very lovely. All the comforts of home and the location was perfect. Very peaceful. I loved how close it was to the nature trails (just up the street) and the sound of the creek (across the street) was so charming. Thanks again!
March 2013

John and Julie's cabin is an ideal getaway for a long weekend. Perfect for us and our kids. We were there during ski season and the access to Bellayre and Plattekill is ideal. Ten minutes to Bellayre and 20 to Plattekil. The hiking even on a snowy weekend was practically right out the door and we are looking to come back in the spring to explore further. Really a perfect location.
The cabin itself is snug and warm. Exactly as advertised. Very accessible and with Julie's directions quite easy to get find and get to. John and Julie took great care of us and made sure we were comfortable and well set for our long weekend. All in all we would highly recommend and hope to return soon.
February 2013

John and Julie were excellent hosts. The cabin is warm and cozy-just as a cabin should be! The provided directions were perfect and it was a quick and easy drive from the NYC area. The beds and couches are very comfortable and the space is neat and easy to maintain while you're there. John and Julie kept us well stocked in fire wood and guided us to some amazing hiking trails just down the road for a fun and challenging experience. Our city dog loved the freedom of the country life and there was plenty of room for her to roam the property. The kitchen is well stocked with all the basics and all the linens and towels were extremely clean and comfy as well.
They provided us with very detailed information on where we could go for shopping, food, outdoor sports, you name it. But what we liked best was the quite time. We did explore a little and found some lovely gourmet food shops and local artisan boutiques that were still open for business this time of year.
We look forward to staying with John and Julie again as we found the mountain hiking challenge one we want to take on often in the future. Many thanks to the wonderful hosts and I highly recommend John and Julie and their Catskill Cabin for a relaxing and invigorating getaway anytime of year.
January 2013

John and Julie were great hosts! They made sure we were happy and had everything we needed without being overbearing. We had a great time cozying up by the fire and hiking on lots of the gorgeous nearby trails.
January 2013

We loved it here! Julie and John are wonderful. Their place is very comfortable, well appointed, clean and cozy. The cabin is perfect for relaxing, reading, cooking, wildlife watching, etc. You can hear the running water from the nearby stream. We saw several deer. We had over a foot of snow and enjoyed pristine snow covered views. Julie and John made sure we were comfortable. They provided us with extra firewood in case we were snowed in, which we weren't since they plowed our walkway and driveway. Too nice! We definitely want to stay here again.
December 2012

Amazing place , John and Julie were great hosts. The house is really secluded and you almost never see anybody:) great escape from NYC!!! Thanks!
December 2012

Truly amazing experience. The setting was quiet and serene and the hosts were accomodating, friendly and extremely informative. Julie and John were helpful in planning all parts of our trip from recommending the best places to eat to giving us a detailed tour of the property. The house itself was extremely clean, warm and had all the amentiies one would need for a relaxing time. There were games, movies, TV, and a very comfortable bed. The location is ideal because you immersed in nature (near a stream and the woods) yet close to all the nice surrounding towns. I hightly recommend it to anyone who is interested in staying in this area.
October 2012

My husband and I went to Catskills for a little getaway from the city, to see fall colors. We liked staying at John and Julie's cabin. It was very cozy, with a nice fireplace and a sun room. The location is perfect - it is very secluded so you get a lot of privacy on the property, and it is right near one of the trails. The hosts are a lovely couple, really nice and friendly, and very accommodating. Anything we needed, they helped us with. They are very knowledgeable of the area and the trails, and had many great recommendations. In short, the stay was perfect.
October 2012

John and Julie welcomed us with a basket of vegetables freshly picked from their garden and gave us a tour around the grounds before leaving us to our own devices. Back inside, we noticed firewood piled high and an artful herbal arrangement plucked from the garden. We enjoyed our weekend hiking, cooking and lazing on the sofas. We hope to come back next fall and take in the resplendent fall colors again!
October 2012

Julie and John were perfect hosts, they went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. Julie even offered to babysit our 3 month old but we didn't have the opportunity to take her up on her kind offer. They left us to enjoy the peace and quiet of their valley, with easy access to all of the attractions in the area including the amazing Fall foliage.
The house is well appointed and has everything you need for a very quiet and peaceful getaway. We would highly recommend Julie and John's Catskill cabin.
October 2012

We had such a nice time staying in this lovely cabin.
The location could not be better with excellent hiking trails just up the street.
The cabin itself is adorable--very clean and cozy---full kitchen for cooking, and warm fireplace for cold nights!
The hosts, John and Julie were so helpful and accommodating. We plan on coming back to visit asap!
October 2012

What an amazing weekend in the Catskills! John and Julie were incredible hosts and super sweet too! It was our first time in the area and John and Julie provided many recommendations which were all great. We hiked the trails within walking distance from the cottage, visited the farmers market, ate at an awesome restaurant and checked out a few scenic lakes... all recommendations from our hosts. The first thing we did once we left was look at our calendar to plan our next visit. I can't say enough about this place and John & Julie. If you like to be outdoors then this place is for you. The cottage is very cute too! Clean and comfortable.
August 2012

Fantastic! I can't stress enough what great hosts Julie and John were. Their love of the area, their home, their garden, and of nature really showed. They are wonderful people and spectacular hosts who provided much, much more than I expected.
Their lovely cottage was exceptionally clean, VERY well-appointed, and a perfect size for our small group. We chose to relax in and out of the cottage the entire weekend; taking an occasional walk through the mowed paths in their meadow; watching the hummingbirds quarrel at the feeder; firing up the grill for every supper; chasing the young one around the front yard; watching the rain from the enclosed front porch. Wonderful in every way!
I would absolutely return (and hope to), as well as recommend their cottage to others.
July 2012

We had a lovely stay at the cottage! The place was the perfect mix of country, mountains, private, rustic, away yet near things, quiet and super clean and cute. Cosy and quaint, we just had a nice relaxing time, walked by stream, cooked, slept and sat by the fire. We were out all day long in the mountains and visiting towns and it was a great quiet getaway to relax.
John and Julie are wonderful, easy and made SURE we had everything we needed as well sent us links to all things local and great directions.
They are just a few minutes away should you need anything usually yet you feel far from civilization yet have ALL you need....Thanks for a great weekend! Heather and family
June 2012

John and Julie's place was fantastic and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend, including extremely comfortable beds and excellent water pressure. There is great hiking and lots to do nearby, and the place feels secluded, yet it is close to grocery stores or anything else you might need. The property is very cute, and there are nice areas to eat and hang out in the yard. I would definetely stay here again.
In addition, John and Julie were wonderful hosts. They worked with us to accommodated out late arrival, and did a great job answering our questions and showing us around the house.
June 2012

everything about this property was fantastic location, quilty of the cabin and furnishings were great, john and julie were good hosts with excellent local knowledge area was remote quite and the perfect place for some relaxation.
June 2012

We couldn't have been more happy with this oasis in the Catskills! First off, John & Julie were some of the best hosts we've ever had. Just an example, we didn't get in until really late in the night, and they graciously waited up for us, even keeping a fire burning in the fireplace when we arrived.
The cabin itself was wonderful. The kitchen featured plenty of amenities to cook large meals, the beds were very comfortable, and the shower had tons of water pressure.
In addition to this, the setting was even more serene. A creek ran alongside the road outside the cabin, and besides a car or two the whole weekend, all we heard was nature!
We didn't ski or hike, but both options were a stone's throw away. Trails to an extensive protected forest was just a short walk from the cabin, and the Ski center was only a mile or two up the mountain.
Overall we'd highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
March 2012

It was a wonderful stay, we definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in contact with nature. The cabin is warm and cozy, it has everything that you need and John and Julie are wonderful hosts. They provided us with trail maps and good advice and we had a great time hiking and relaxing. We are planning on returning! By the way, the stream that runs in front of the cabin is just lovely!
February 2012

My partner and I stayed at John and Julie's cottage for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The cottage is right in the heart of the wilderness of the Catskills. It was easy to find with their directions, and once we were there, we felt like we were miles away from anywhere. The cottage itself had everything we needed for our stay, including a very well-equipped kitchen, and the log fire provided ample warmth in the evenings! There are some great walking trails just down the road, which, although damaged by the hurricane, made for a fun adventure. Thanks John and Julie!
October 2011

i really can't speak highly enough about what a lovely weekend we had staying at john and julie's, or what delightful hosts they are. we are very much hoping to go back again in a couple of months.
October 2011

We had an amazing stay here. The cottage/small house had everything you could ask for, including some great music. Very clean, cozy, amazing fireplace with plenty of wood, and everything you need if you want to make meals in.
Woodstock and Phoenicia are a short drive away, but far enough that you still feel you're in the heart of the woods.
Next time I'm in the area this is going to be my first choice to stay.
October 2011

What a memorable weekend, and not just because of Hurricane Irene! Hands down, this was the best cabin my husband and I have stayed at in the Catskills, and we've stayed at quite a few. Upon arrive, John and Julie came out to greet us with a basket of veggies from their garden, and told us we could even pick extra if we wanted...lots of peas, squash, lemon cukes, beets, potatoes, etc. The cabin was quite spacious for two people, but it's nice to know there is an extra little "camp" room with two twin cots for when we bring a child in the future. It was so relaxing to sit outside in the evening and grill on the deck, and falling asleep to the sounds of the creek was pretty darn relaxing, too. We'll definitely be back again very soon, before the end of the year for sure.
August 2011

Julie and John are friendly and knowledgeable hosts. The house is adorable, with nice open common space and the area the house is in is beautiful. There are lots of good books, dvds and cds in the livingroom for your entertainment. It's also a major plus that sheets, towels and basic pantry items are all provided.
August 2011

John and Julia were wonderful hosts and the cottage is super cute! Three of us and our dog felt like we were home. We saw deer everyday and even managed to catch a glimpse of a wild partridge of some kind and a very chubby beaver. And since there was little cellular/internet service, we really got a respite from work! Love it!
June 2011

We had an incredible stay in this cute and cozy cottage with all its great amenities and beautifully placed in the luscious and quiet garden. It was exactly what we were looking for in an escape from the city (and even more actually!) We really felt at home and particularly enjoyed breakfast outside in the mornings. Julie and John were wonderful and extremely welcoming. We really appreciated their recommendations of activities etc in the region.
We had a a fantastic and relaxing stay and managed to fit in a lot of activities in the area too. The drives to nearby towns are lovely and we were excited to have seen quite a bit of wildlife too!
June 2011

Julie and John were very nice and helpful. They provided very detailed directions and information on the surrounding neighborhoods, including recommendations for restaurants, grocery stores, and more. The cabin was very clean and had a good selection of books, music (jazz, blues, classical, country, celtic, etc.), and movies.
We didn't want to leave and I'm sure most people will feel the same way.
January 2011

My idea of the perfect day in the cottage involves reading a book under the apple tree, picking vegetables in John and Julie's garden, drinking a couple of gin and tonics (in the summer), grilling a steak and eating it with a salad with lettuce, tomatoes and peppers that were picked not an hour earlier. Then just enjoying the perfect Catskills evening. When you go to bed with the window open and the river is running high, you can hear the boulders clunking their way down the streambed--on their way to who knows where. Someday I hope to see a bear from the porch. That's just one reason why I keep coming back.
October 2010
This Catskills cottage is perfect for a relaxing escape from it all. The
environs are a combination of deep woods and bucolic farmland laced with
creeks. The cottage itself is set on a hillside where paths wind through a
wildflower meadow and lead to John & Julie's vegetable gardens, the fruits
of which they generously shared with me. A trailhead leading to a portion
of the NYS forever wild forest considered one of the most beautiful in the
entire preserve is right down the road. It is magnificent! Hiked into the Wilderness,
walked the steep road adjacent to the property that high up in a Mountain, and relaxed in the
glider, on the porch, or in the other seating areas scattered throughout the
property. The night sky was unbelievable! John & Julia welcomed me and my
dog to their beautiful world. They are the perfect hosts--available and
helpful without being intrusive. I hope to return soon! My only regret is
that I didn't bring my bicycle. The road on which this cottage is located
and many of the other valley roads accessible from it are surprisingly
flat--I could have had some tremendous rides. A note on local
shopping--Margaretville has a very good market and is located less than 15
mins. away (an important consideration in rustic Catskills areas).
August 2010

If you'e looking for a private getaway in the beautiful catskill region, this place is perfect. Me and my wife rented this property for our 1st wedding-anniversary. It doesn't get a lot more secluded and surrounded by lushes greens than this.
The Cottage is very cute, clean and charming and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook it up. (And of course, there is the grill outside!)
John & Julie are lovely hosts. Don't miss the tour through their amazing garden! (If you're into it, they'll probably offer you some fresh vegetables from their garden, yum!)
August 2010

John and Julie were wonderful hosts and perfectly match their wonderful cottage. This little piece of Eden was the perfect place for me to propose to my girlfriend, now fiance -- it must have been the location that prompted the yes! It's close to every outdoor attraction and activity you would want yet also away from it all. We highly recommend it.
June 2010

Truly idyllic spot off of a quiet country road. Couldn't have asked for a better getaway in nature! The cottage is cozy, charming, spotless, equipped with everything you need to make some great meals. There's even a swing underneath an apple tree in the front yard. John and Julie go above and beyond to create a perfect stay. Can't wait to go back!
April 2010
I couldn't say enough great things about this place and Julie and John as hosts. Close to great hiking, skiing and the best part is that I actually got to make a pie with only things from the garden. I really look forward to spending another weekend there soon! -J
