“Great location, nice cottage”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2016

We had a wonderful stay at Alice's Black Hills Cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment so we could have meals at the cottage. The bedrooms and bathrooms suited the needs of our nine guests (one small child). The cottage was conveniently located to many of the things we wanted to do - Mt. Rushmore, the 1880 Train, Bear Country, horseback riding, the Mickleson Trail, and Hill City. We definitely would stay here again!

Owner's reply: It has been a delight to renovate Alice's Black Hills Cottage on the Mick and share it with people all over the USA and the world . A compliment from our neighbors right here at home in South Dakota is especially gratifying. Thank you so much for the encouraging words . Many Happy Returns! Jan

“You'll Keep Coming Back -- A Great Choice”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2015

My brother was a great champion & pioneer of The SD Mickelson Trail, and in going to SD to honor him on two occasions for the 2014 Fall Trek, dedicated to his memory, we happened upon the owners of Alice's Cabin & Pine Rest Cabins. The owners have been riding in the fall trek for over a decade, and they are experts in trail navigation, and many other SD destinations. From the outset, they went out of their way to make our trips a success, delivering hospitality second to none. We were treated like family, and consider these proprietors to be so special, because they go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. Part of the charm is that Alice's BH Cottage and the Pine Rest cabins have quite a heritage. They are very convenient to Hill City nestled in the hills. The Cottage has all the amenities. Featured are many wonderful things to make entertaining a joy, a great washer/dryer, and a delightful electric fireplace. It is very cozy, roomy, and you have all the comforts of home for an extended stay. With Alice's BH Cottage's 3 bedrooms, you can accommodate others during your stay. You will be so happy you made this choice!

Owner's reply: It was an honor and delight to host you & your cousin as the first official guests of "Alice's Black Hills Cottage on the Mick" and later meet your husband and friends . We're thrilled to hear that the Englewood Bridge resurfacing is complete and what a fitting tribute to your brother. We love the Mickelson trail and are so thankful for his pioneering work.Thank you for taking the time to send your kind words and we wish you Many Happy Returns! Jan & Steve

“Beautiful house”

My family and I enjoyed staying at this beautiful, comfortable house. There was plenty of room for my sisters family and mine. It was in a great location. The owners were very nice and helped with anything that we needed. The beds were very confortable. We slept great every night. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a clean, confortable house to rent. I plan on coming back.

"Hi Steve & Jan, Thank you for a wonderful stay. We had an excellent time! We will certainly be recommending your beautiful home to others. " S M

"an excellent location and beautiful place to stay. Steven and Jan did a wonderful job of decorating their home and creating a comfortable place to stay. There is a beautiful river in the backyard that has a peaceful sound in the mornings and throughout the day. Downtown Black Hills is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the cottage. It is a very cute town. It is also a great and convienent location to get to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. The kitchen is fully equipped to make anything you want. In fact, we had every untensil needed to make a lavish homemade Indian meal.

We, as a family, highly recommend this cottage to everyone. It is a great place to stay."
