“Great Family Vacation Home”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2017

Plenty of room for our family of 8. Only thing missing was a table large enough for everyone to sit around. Well-kept, clean, and just the right size.

20th Sister's Trip

12751 Happy Trails, Hill City, SD, 57745, United States

Date of Stay September 26, 2013

My three sister's and myself elected to visit the Black Hills and Badlands for our 20th yearly Sister's Trip. As the trip planner I picked the Outlaw Inn as our home base and we were not disappointed. The house was so warm, clean and comfortable, provided easy access to all the western South Dakota sights, and the hot tub and fireplace were perfect places to review the days activities and to relax and catch up on our otherwise busy lives. I would definitely recommend The Outlaw Inn and hope to return with my husband. The only thing to be aware of is that many restaurants and stores in Hill City close for the season the last day of September so our trip was timed perfectly.

Our Stay at the "Outlaw"

12751 Happy Trails, Hill City, SD, 57745, United States

Date of Stay September 14, 2013
6 of us stayed at the "Outlaw" in September, 2013 for 3 nights. We now wish we had stayed there for a full week as we all loved every aspect of our stay. The home was so perfectly furnished to meet all of our needs and then some. What a wonderful job the owners-decorators did to make this an authentic western log home. Attention to detail was evident everywhere. The view out the windows at the horses and black angus cattle plus the mountains in the distance made for an ideal setting. We all enjoyed the hot tub. The kitchen facilities and equipment were high quality and attractive. The location was perfect for our stay as it was close to Hill City where we did the 1880's dinner train ride and also to get to Mount Rushmore. It was exactly like described online, only better! We have only positive comments for the owner, management service, and cleaning service. Everyone was cordial and accommodating to us. I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends. We had planned to eat out but after arriving, we decided we wanted to enjoy the place so ate our meals there. The price was reasonable and it was easy to find. We had a most memorable vacation at the Outlaw.

The Inlaws

12751 Happy Trails, Hill City, SD, 57745, United States

Date of Stay September 9, 2013

IAfter a lot of searching we booked The Outlaw Inn. One deciding factor was the location being central to the places we wanted to visit. We definitely scored in that regard! Whether we were headed to Deadwood, Rapid City, Mount Rushmoor, or Hot Springs, we were just minutes away from the highway to take us where we wanted to go. And yet, when were at the cabin there was the sense of privacy in our own little world. We were very pleased with our entire experience! The office staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions for places to eat, etc. The rental itself exceeded our expectations! Spacious, clean, tastefully decorated, and generously furnished with much more than the minimal amount of kitchen necessities. We used the hot tub twice in the morning before our sightseeing began. We saw ten wild.I turkeys in the front yard our last day. At other times we saw buffalo, longhorn sheep, antelopes, deer, and a herd of elk. We had some good meals in Hill City at the Alpine Inn and Desperados Cowboy Restaurant. All in all we enjoyed our stay and wish we could have spent more time in the area. We would stay at The Outlaw Inn again in a heartbeat and will give it our highest recommendation.
