Review of #1224

December 16, 2014

We very much enjoyed our stay in the condo. The condo was within walking distance of the beach. We were able to either walk or take a taxi to multiple locations in Honolulu. The condo was just the right amount of room. I requested an extra bed and it was available to us. Our sons used the extra bed and the fold out couch to sleep on. Having the partition helped to have privacy without going into the bathroom to change. I would recommend this condo to anyone making a trip to Oahu.

The view is incredible! The photos don't really do it justice. The downside is the walk to the beach its a little distance because the there isn't direct access. You have to walk through the Marina parking lot to get to the lagoon then to the beach. The rug was being shampooed when we arrived, and the shampooing didn't help remove the stains. There were ample amenities in the kitchen, you could have home cooked meals if you wanted to save money. If you have a family of 4 you will have to wash the towels because you won't have enough for the week. The washer and dryer cost $2.50 each.

Great location & condo!

January 26, 2014

This condo provided everything that was given in it's description. We are a family of 4 that stayed in the condo and enjoyed our stay. The condo was clean and plenty of room to move around. The balcony view was amazing. The futon on the balcony provided a great spot to sleep each night. The beach chairs, boogie boards and umbrellas were great to use since our children spent the majority of our trip on the beach. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Hawaii.

Great room with bonus free entertainment

November 1, 2013

The room was great for my husband, 5yr old son and I. The balcony was surprisingly large so plenty of room to sit out for breakfast or to watch the cultural concerts on the neighboring hotel rooftop or for a front row seat of the fireworks every Tuesday and Friday nights. The beach chairs, boogy boards, mask and snorkle, sand toys, beach umbrella etc were a very welcome surprise. Being located close to the lagoon and beach is great for young families and husbands wanting to paddle board or surf. Great to be so close to Ala Moana for shopping and food hall. Would definitely recommend this condo for family of 3 or couple but not quite big enough for larger group. Only issue was wardrobe doors continually came off their tracks which made access to the wardrobes difficult. They definitely could do with replacing. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel/condo

June 23, 2013

We were shocked to see the unit (1704) was a mess when we first opened the door. It appears there was a miscommunications between the previous tenant and the unit management office. They thought the tenants were leaving a day later. Not a problem though, management sorted out the issue and had the room cleaned within an hour. The unit looked very good after the cleaners left. The décor inside was a little dated, the mattress was 'ok', but the sliding doors worked but definitely need fixing. Kitchen was well maintained, a little small, but it has everything, except a dishwasher. The view from this unit was amazing, especially for the weekly price. Only walking distance to the west side of Waikiki beach, which is better side in my opinion. Walking to the heart of Waikiki is about 15 or 20 minutes, and you can stroll down the beach side or walk down Kapakalua Ave. Parking at the Iilikai is $28/day and definitely worth it. There is little or NO parking on the street. Plus you really don't want to hassle with parking on your vacation. As for car rental, we rented a SUV from JN rentals by the airport for $777/wk after tax, basic insurance, fees etc. If you are new to Oahu, I strongly recommend you have Google maps and a co-pilot :) -it will makes the drive around Oahu less stressful, especially around Waikiki. The ilikai itself is pretty decent but we never really used the pool or other facilities. And if you need to purchase beach mats, purchase them from the store in the building - it's way cheaper. The elevator is a little clunky and overall building interior is a little dated.

Nice unit, great location and view

March 25, 2013

We stayed in unit 1916 from March 9 - 15th. The unit was nicely furnished and clean. The view is spectacular and the location was convenient and I loved that it was at the end of Waikiki beach, rather than in the midst of the chaos. The only things that I think could be improved are that there were not enough dishes for our party of 5 (we had to take turns using bowls, etc.) and there were some areas (bathroom door trim) that needed to be cleaned better. I would stay here again if I returned to Honolulu, but if we were to return to Hawaii it would likely be a different island.

Great condo

February 12, 2013

Absolutely loved our stay at the Ilikai, central to everything,. The condo was everything we could have hoped for and the fantastic view made it even better. A few issues we did have though , on payment of our balance a few weeks before arrival we were charged more because of an error in the original quote and also informed that parking was not included and came at an additional fee as we were going to hire a car. This was our first experience at renting a condo and not staying at a hotel and we would definately do it again but we will seek more information and detail before booking.

Gorgeous ocean view

May 8, 2012

We travelled to Oahu with our 2 sons, and stayed at the Ilikai for a week. We just loved the view off our lanai and ate all our meals outside, it was peaceful...the Ilikai staff were great and the services there included a coffee bar, restaurant, hair salon, market to name a few. The location of this property drew us to stay there, it is in a nice area, far less tourists, and right beside the 5-star Hilton Hawaiian Resort. It was a 2 minute walk to the HH Lagoon and sandy beach. If you like walking, there is a nice paved path which meanders along the ocean and in front of the open air hotel restaurants, taking you right down to the Royal Hawaiian Resort and Outrigger Hotel. At this end of the strip you are shoulder to shoulder on the beach with everyone...so we only spent a couple of hours there while our sons tried surfing. In our condo we had everything we could possibly need, it was just a matter of picking up groceries and making ourself at home. We found Dainora very professional and a pleasure to communicate with...all of our needs were met completely. The only slight drawback with this property is that the pool area is on the small side...with lounge chairs in short supply. We noted that this area is going to be re-designed soon, and that will be a plus to have a larger area to accommodate the number of guests that stay here. We were very happy to stay at the Ilika and would return if our path ever takes us this way again.

unit as pictured

Owner very accommodating and unit is as pictured. Had a noise problem with neighbors above and security did nothing. It took 4 days of complaints. Checked in Tuesday and noise stopped Saturday after I told security that I would call the police for noise control! Low quality remodel, but it is probably difficult to find good craftsmen in Oahu

Unprofessional handling of contract agreement

May 27, 2011

I have serious concerns about the way the property manager conducted himself. The rental quote as listed with you was not correct. He asked for and got $100.00 more. However, if that is so its still listed at the price I was originally given. Further, the contract called for a $100.00 security deposit to be returned within 10 days of my departure assuming there was no damage. This did not happen. I had to make several vocal inquiries to get it back. It took 43 days. The apt was acceptable but could have been cleaner. While we were in residence we found strangers standing in the hallway one early afternoon. Apparently the manager had given key access to a realtor friend to show the apt. There were other issues such as lack of household items shown in the listing as been available that were not there. I have been renting in Hawaii for the past 14 years, and I must say this last visit was not a pleasant experience.
