About the area

Offering Country Vacations In the Heart of Raystown Country! About Raystown Lake Raystown Lake is an 8,300-acre man-made impoundment of the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River. The dam, completed in 1973, backs up water for over 30 miles. Raystown Dam is operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a flood control dam protecting populated areas from flooding from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to the mouth of the Susquehanna River as it flows into the Chesapeake Bay. Raystown Dam has saved property owners and municipalities tens of millions of dollars in flood damage that would have occurred since construction was started in 1971.

“We Will Be Back”

We enjoy boating at Raystown Lake, and have stayed at many places during the 20 years of vacations there. We have finally found a home at the "Grand Old Lady"! Betty made our family feel welcome, and the house is great! Plenty of space inside, with lots of parking out back for the boat. I enjoyed sitting out back on the deck and watching the hawks over on the next ridge after a long day of boating. It's nice to have fianally found a place to stay that meets all of our family's needs. Did I mention that we will be back......?

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words. We look forward to seeing you again.

This rental in Rayston Lake was much better than expected. The house was very large, well taken care of and had everything you could need. A bit hard to get to with unpaved roads, but worth the effort.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words. Please join us again the next time you visit beautiful Raystown Lake.
