About the area

Raystown Lake is a popular waterway in south central Pennsylvania. The 29 mile long lake and surrounding area are owned in large part by the federal government with several state-owned parks and forests close by. It is a wonderful area to spend a family vacation with great hiking, hunting, boating, swimming, fishing, and birdwatching. Other popular attractions include caverns, railroading, horse-back riding, lake cruises, boat rentals just to mention a few. For golfers, Huntingdon Country Club offers a public golf course about 4 miles north of us. Volunteers have recently created the Allegrippis Trail which is popular with biking enthusiasts. Fishing tournaments frequent the area and Barbecue at the Beach is held in September. During your stay, you may be blessed to see a bear swimming across the lake or a bald eagle returning to its nest. Our cabins property is located on a hillside over which deer travel on a regular basis Cabins are also only 15 minutes drive from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA and about 45 minutes drive to Penn State University main campus in State College, PA

“Wonderful wooded weekend”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2015

I rented all 4 of the cabins for a long weekend when I got married so all of my family could be in the same place. The cabins were great. The location was beautiful and private. The 1BR cabin, which only has a few steps to get into it, was perfect for a family that needed it to be wheelchair accessible. The price was fantastic and cheaper than getting a hotel room. All of the cabins were well stocked with plates, cups, bowls, pots and pans, utensils, etc, full kitchens, even a coffee maker . I have Verizon and had full 4G the entire time we were there. They also have dvd/vhs players and Comcast cable. You seem way more out in the middle of nowhere than you actually are. We will probably try and stay here for all future visits (assuming they are available). Everyone loved it there and some are even thinking about going back for future vacations (They all live in FL). Great cabins, great experience!

Owner's reply: Thank you,Shauna! Glad your group enjoyed the stay. Sorry that it was such a cold few days for you Florida kids!! Best wishes to you and your lucky guy!

“Our family vacation”

Me my wife and our dog Tater stayed at the single bedroom cabin for three days and we loved it. I hope we can stay there again next year or sooner if I can convince my wife. Linda our host was very nice and helped us very much. The cabin was clean and roomy for a one bedroom and had all the comforts of home. The area around the cabin was very beautiful and the lake was awesome. I wish I could live there year round.

Owner's reply: Thanks, Norm. We're glad you enjoyed your stay! Feel free to return anytime. And, if you decide you'd really like to live here, just let me know. I am a Realtor and would be happy to help you find a home!!

Lovely little cabin! Had everything we needed and was very close to the lake. Was nice and quiet and the trees gave alot of privacy from the other cabins. Very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitly visit again! Very pleasant getaway

Owner's reply: Thanks for taking the time to submit a review. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay...please do come back again!

“cabin for two”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2015

the cabin has an eat in kitchen w microwave and fridge, living room w two couches and a tv. There are two bedrooms, with a queen bed and a full bed. The queen is very soft and not really comfortable for two people, as I kept rolling into my partner, in the center of the bed and had a hard time sleeping. The driveway is a unpaved, pitted and very rocky so you need to be careful.

Owner's reply: Our goal is 100% satisfaction but we know that we can't please everyone. I would like to point out that 22 other families have used cabin #3 alone this year, several of them for an entire week, not just one night as you did. I have had no other complaints about the queen bed being too soft. We also try to forewarn guests that we do not have a paved driveway by suggesting 4WD vehicles. Serious rains can cause ruts and low-riding cars may have some difficulty.

“Private Cabin Retreat”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2015

We had a fantastic time staying at this cabin. It was conveniently close to the Marina and Huntingdon, yet far enough into the woods that you'd never know. We had some concern about being too close to the other campers and possibly bothering them since we had a 6 year old, an infant and a dog with us, but it was very private and not a problem at all. It was in good condition, clean, and we have zero complaints. We would recommend this to friends and family and we plan to return next year. A great find!

Owner's reply: Thank you, Morgan. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return visit with us!

Loved this rustic retreat. Away from the business, but close enough to enjoy the activities at the lake. Enjoyed the close trails for hiking and all the conveniences of this cabin. It has everything you need-- firepit, kitchen, heat, and the peace and quiet. Really appreciated our dog being able to join us. Linda seems so nice and was very helpful. Already planning our next visit!

Hubby says we will definitely be coming the last week in July. Also, we are going to try and make it up there for one more weekend before it snows. And we will probably try to book a few times before our July vacation. David enjoyed it so much that he is willing to give up a trip to a football game to come there. That is saying something.

I just wanted to thank you and tell you what a wonderful time we had at the cabin. It was just what we wanted for a quick get a way. The fishing was great at Raystown and we even saw a bear. Alex Barnhart
