“Secluded piece of heaven”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2016

The Rivers Edge cabin was clean, fully stocked with everything you need and more to feel at home. The deck had a nice awning over the hot tub so we could enjoy even in the rain. The owners were incredibly responsive and answered all our questions right away. This by far was the best stay for the money. The Rivers Edge is so cozy, accommodating and full of fun!!! I cant wait till we can book again.

Owner's reply: I'm glad these guest enjoyed the home and surrounding area as this home gets lots of repeat guests all the time as everyone wants to come back:-)

“awesome start to the summer!”

The cabin was clean and well maintained. The boats and hot tub were super fun. They thought of everything.

Owner's reply: We clean and maintain all our vacation rentals. We also make sure that all of our homes have plenty of entertainment even though the homes are in vacation hot spots so there are more things to do away from the cottage. We make it easy breezy for the guest, just bring food and drink, FUN is already at the cottage!

Owner Supplied Testimonials

I stayed here for a golf weekend and was very impressed with the house. Everything was very clean and the hot tub was perfect after a day of golf. If it's a clear night, turn off all the lights and enjoy the stars. The renting process was easy and Dorene was great to work with. Highly recommend would definitely stay here again

e cannot express in words what an amazing stay we had! There just are no words!! What a romantic place to spend our 20th Wedding Anniversary! We stayed up until 2am that first night, hoping to see the northern lights...but saw nothing.....except the darkest clearest star gazing we have ever experienced in our lives! So thankful that we brought our telescope with us...for the gazing and the views, it really enhanced the beauty of the place. We woke up on our first morning to find the sunrise glowing on the mountain tops and a rainbow across the expanse of our view. We kayaked that afternoon. The river was majestic, with views galore, the paddle a little hard (going up river)...but definitely worth the journey! Our girls, Kahzi & Libby, had the time of their lives; this was a perfect location for our four legged family members! The cottage has everything one could want or need; this is definitely a home away from home! Thank you again for creating such a magical place and allowing us to enjoy it for 3 very short days! I cried when we left, it was hard to leave!! I forgot to mention the hot tub, the sunsets, how absolutely comfy that king bed was, the sightseeing away from the cabin, the trip over the Mackinac Bridge, Mackinaw City, St. Ignace, Big Bear Adventures, Petoskey and all of the other experiences we had!!!! :) The Bottom Line: The owners are fantastic, their place is the best, the location is perfect and we will be back for more!!!!!

We found River's Edge to be exactly what we had hoped - a relaxing retreat and great location from which to do day trips. The cottage is spacious, well-appointed, and offers beautiful views of Indian River. The owners have provided for all the creature comforts - hot tub, gas grill, new furniture and comfortable beds, wifi, satellite tv, dvd player, board games, firepit w/wood, kayaks/canoe/paddleboat. We appreciated the privacy and solitude that River's Edge offers, and after full days of activity and adventure, were especially grateful for the hot tub! We are thankful that you shared your cottage with us, and that you were willing to accommodate our pooch who loves adventure as much as we do. Thank you!

We are fans of the Indian River area. We try to come up when we can from the Jackson Mi. area to snowmobile. This was our first time staying at this cabin, and we were impressed. It was modern and decorated really nice. It was very clean and comfortable. There were plenty of towels, paper supplies, and other products in case you forget something. Loved the hot tub! Even with the temps -0. Beautiful views! Great place to stay.

I booked only a few days before hand and Dorene was great answering questions via email right away. River's Edge was exactly what I hoped for. My kids loved the hot tub and being close to Indian River was beautiful. The place was very clean and the décor made you feel at home. I definitely hope to make this a yearly visit!

Wonderful rustic cabin. Was great for our dog as it is all fenced in with a gate, so he could not wander off. Sitting in the hot tub overlooking the river was wonderful. Central to all locations in the area. Would like to come back for a few days in the summer...

This property is so peaceful and relaxing, the cabin is so homey it's definitely worth another stay. Love it here!:)

A planned father/son fishing trip with my father-in-law, brother-in-law, my father, and we couldn't have had a better place to operate from. The cabin accommodated four men comfortably, had all the amenities we wanted, had comfortable beds, the hot tub soaked away any pains we had, and the dock allowed us to bring our own boat to go fishing in both Mullett and Burt Lakes. We cooked a little and ate out out a little. Ken's grocery store is close and had everything we needed. Christopher's had great breakfast with even better service and my father-in-law loved Wilson's River Edge Restaurant. Indian River is still quiet this time of year (kids are still in school). Didn't catch many fish because it was probably too early and it was first time fishing these lakes. Of the fish we did catch, they included perch, walleye, smallmouth, and pike. The owner, Dorene, made the experience of renting her well maintained cabin easy.

What an awesome place to stay. Things to do for people of all ages, very clean upgraded appliances, very comfortable. Kayaking, paddle boats, fishing. We had an awesome time and I can't wait to come back again.

Hot tub with sunset view is great! Paddleboats/canoe/kayaks, fire pit and backyard make for a lot of activities at the cabin. Several of Michigan's greatest attraction are all within an hour as well. Highly recommend

This cabin is the quintessential home away from home! The location of this cabin is perfect for daytripping. Petoskey, Cheboygan, Harbor Springs, Mackinaw City, and Mackinac Island are all just a quick drive away! The cabin itself is fully stocked with all the essentials (including a hairdryer and curling iron!). We were elated to find coffee already in the fridge for us after such a long (but scenic!) car ride. The plethora of board games made our evenings exciting, along with the relaxing hot tub! We highly recommend this cabin to anyone and the owner was great to work with! Thanks, again!

Our stay was amazing. Everything we needed was provided. We love this area, and plan to return in the future!

This property was better than expected! Clean, beautiful, well maintained, and quality furnishings. Dorene was wonderful to work with. If you want a nice place on the river, look no further! I grew up in Michigan and wanted a place away from it all, to spend with family and do some sight seeing. It was absolutely perfect!

What a wonderful cottage! Perfect location so close to everything. The cottage has everything you would need to cook meals and a paddle boat and a canoe to play on the beautiful river. To wake up in the morning to see the quiet river is beyond beautiful. We will be back to a great place for a perfect time away.

This cabin was a perfect retreat for my husband, our dog and I. I cannot think of one thing that would have added to our stay there. The owners have thought of everything, from basic spices and condiments to boats and kayaks and even a ready made fire that we had to just light! The view is serene, the hot tub relaxing and the bed is beyond comfortable. My favorite feature is the fenced in yard that made vacationing with our precious Labrodane easy. We are looking forward to getting back there soon!

We loved this place so much we booked an extra night's stay, and we want to come back every year! The pictures don't even do justice to the beautiful home and gorgeous view! We got the most incredible photographs at sunset. We took out the paddle boat, roasted marshmallows over the fire, and soaked in the hot tub. Our dogs were in heaven with the huge fenced yard and the calm water to swim in. We had all the conveniences and comfort of home and more. Dorene was extremely responsive and accommodating.

his was my second time at the River's Edge and I absolutely enjoyed it! The location is a perfect mix of seclusion and proximity to everything the Indian River area has to offer. The decor is very tasteful and welcoming, it was very clean and comfortable and had all of those little things like board games that really add up. I'll be back for

We loved staying at this home!! It was very clean and looked even better than the pictures can show. Descriptions were accurate and the owner was very quick in responding if we had any questions. We had everything there that we needed and then some. The entire yard being fenced all the way around was a huge plus for us, with our dog. It was a quick and easy drive to Mackinaw City for our day trip over to the island. It was a nice, private location with a wonderful view across the river, and yet very close to jump on the highway. Hot tub and paddle boat were also great. I would highly recommend this property to others and look forward to renting from the owners again.

This is the perfect place to get away and relax. The back of the cabin opens up to the river, which was just beautiful in the winter. The cabin is so cozy inside and has everything you would need. It is secluded and private, but only a 30 minute drive to the skiing, breweries, and restaurants in Petosky. We definitely want to return in the summer to enjoy the river morE

What an amazing cabin! Had everything we needed plus some. The hot tub looking out on the water is heavenly. We have 3 long haired chihuahuas and they were very relaxed and enjoyed their time at the cabin as well. Fenced in on both sides! We will be coming back I'm sure of it. Great area, plus short drive to petoskey and to the U.P, really had a wonderful weekend. Thank you Dorene for the quick feedback and letting us stay at this beautiful place.
