Description of the Indian Shores vacation apartment rental
Thank you! I have enjoyed sharing our Florida condo with others for more than 25 years now (we have owned Unit F2 at Quiet Waters since 1988) and I have made a lot of good friends over the years that way.

The Quiet Waters building has a terrific location and amenities --- a heated pool, a large 8-person hot tub, also called a "spa", a big barbecue grill and protected patio for outdoor dining, a big sun deck, bathrooms in the pool area, and an outdoor shower in the large back yard.

We also have a large private fishing and sun-bathing pier that goes out through a beautiful Mangrove swamp into the Intracoastal Waterway, which is our "back yard". The island we are on is a part of a series of long, narrow islands off the West Coast of Florida that run from Clearwater Beach down to St Petersburg Beach; our town of Indian Shores is about half way in between. The Intracoastal Waterway is just inside our island chain on the Eastern side; the Gulf of Mexico is on the West, of course. You can fish, feed the large friendly sea-birds who will take your fish if you don't cook them yourself on the out-door grille, or just watch the yachts, sailboats, or dolphins and manatee swim by.

The Gulf of Mexico beaches are across the street from our condo building, down an access path we own. The street itself is only two lanes wide, and has a bicycle and a walking path on either side. The beach is wide, sandy, and runs both North and South for 14 miles (you can walk from our private-access beach at Indian Shores 7 miles South along the beach to John's Pass, or 7 miles North along the beach up to Sand Key.

Also, as I mentioned, Indian Shores itself has a bike path

My particular condo is a corner unit and an end unit, with Southwestern exposure. That means we have no common walls with other units, which is great, and we get light and breezes all day long. The apartment is luxurious, but not stuffy, at least by my standards. It is a spacious, comfortable two-bedroom, two-bath balcony unit of about 1200 square feet with Italian tile in the large living room/dining area, and carpeting in the bedrooms, a washer and dryer, utility closet, and lots of storage space.

The vertical blinds open to a 12-foot-wide, 8-foot-high sliding glass wall, onto the balcony outside (smoking permitted there only, please); a smaller slider in the master bedroom also gives access to the balcony from that bedroom.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a stainless-steel ice-making fridge, electric stove, double sink, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, pots, pans, cutlery, and so on.

The master bedroom has a king size bed, and its own large master bath and walk-in closet; the smaller bedroom has a queen and a twin, plus its own full bath immediately down the hall; the living room sofa converts to a queen-size bed.

Full laundry facilities are in the unit, as are high speed Wi-Fi Internet access, and Cable TV.

I have owned this unit F2 at Quiet Waters for nearly a quarter century (the building was only a few years old when I bought) and I picked it out carefully; I used to be a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times (the local paper) and I covered Indian Shores, so I knew the region well. Unlike some parts of Florida, it has never been over-developed, and recently the town added both bicycle and walking paths to the roadway, narrowing the car lanes in the process, which has made Quiet Waters really people and kid friendly. As an advocate for passenger train service in the United States --- I am Chairman and CEO of the non-profit National Corridors Initiative --- I appreciate intelligent, walkable design and Indian Shores has that, plus a terrific beach trolley service that can take you anywhere up and down the Gulf.

If all this sounds magical, that's because it is.

Give me a call or email anytime; the rates vary with the season and the length of your stay; we rent Saturday-Saturday usually, but can sometimes make an exception.

Thanks, and welcome!

Area Information
This part of Florida has a lot going for it, not just a glorious natural Gulf of Mexico setting right across the street on our private-access beach, but also the Intracoastal Waterway literally in our backyard, beyond the pool, and hot tub and mangrove swamp...

To make it better, intelligent local officials (they DO exist!)who a few years ago refused state money to widen our main street, Gulf Boulevard, as almost all the other beach towns our area have done, instead installing bike and walking paths, while simultaneously narrowing the road (slowing the cars down!)

In that and many other ways, it is a great place for families, seniors, kids, or grand-kids.
