“Great Experience!”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2017

I would like to start by mentioning that Jim, the owner, was extremely helpful and answered all concerns promptly. The cabin was clean and spacious. The cabin was as pictured and described. My family enjoyed the stay and look forward for another getaway. Thank you Jim!

Owner's reply: You guys are very welcome and we look forward to having you as our guests again

“Great cabin for the price”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2016

We found this home through Vacation Home Rentals vs. going through an Airbnb or VRBO. It was the first time I reserved a rental through this website so I was a little nervous. Reading though the reviews, it seems like I wasn't the only one. However, once we made the reservation and paid the initial deposit, the owner provided great communication through email with the option to make payments to the rental price if we needed that (which we didn't). The owner replied quickly to all of our questions and the reservation process was not stressful at all. We received our check in information the day before we were due to check in and also received a prompt text message the morning of with the rest of the info we needed. The house was clean when we arrived and had plenty of space! There was only 5 of us, so we had 2 empty beds. The mattresses were just ok, not great but not the worst we have been on in some rentals. The kitchen was perfect for cooking and we used the outdoor gas bbq as well. The backyard was small, so not a whole lot you can do with kids in the "yard". We brought horseshoes, but there wasn't enough room to set those up (which was fine because there is a nearby park in Sugarloaf that had plenty of space to run around). The deck on the back and front porch are both very roomy for sitting. There is a larger flat screen tv in the living room and in the loft, all with DVD players. The 3 bedrooms have very small tvs, which was also fine for us as we aren't big bedroom tv watchers. The wifi was in and out most of the time we were there. Normally we aren't connected to the internet on vacation, but we brought our Roku to watch some movies and had a hard time staying on the wifi. The house is about 10 minutes from town and it is a beautiful drive. Super easy to get to Snow Summit (which we were visiting for mountain biking in the fall, not skiing) and other parts of Big Bear and Fawnskin. This is a great rental for a family, we were happy with the place and would definitely rent here again.

Owner's reply: HI NIKKI, I AM REALLY HAPPY YOU ENJOYED OUR CABIN. WE DO OUR BEST TO KEEP IT IN TIP TOP SHAPE. I LOOKED INTO THE WIFI ISSUE AND HAD THE CABLE COMPANY REPLACE THE ROUTER AND ALSO JUST PURCHASED TWO MORE BEDS TO REPLACE THE TWO OLDER ONES. NOW THEY ARE ALL ONE YEAR OLD OR LESS. IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE WE CAN DO TO MAKE YOUR STAY EVEN BETTER PLEASE ASK! WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING YOUR FAMILY STAY WITH US AGAIN. THANKS, JIM

“Amazing Cabin Stay”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2016

I can't say enough good things about this cabin and its owner. Amazing experience! My family and I originally stayed at Jim's cabin in November 2014 for a Thanksgiving getaway. We have never traveled for this particular holiday. I was a bit apprehensive in the beginning stages of planning but once I spoke with Jim, I couldn't have been more excited about our trip to the cabin. When we arrived at the cabin, we were all pleasantly surprised. The cabin was clean, cozy and very spacious. There were 8 of us and there was more than enough room. The large loft space upstairs was an incredible bonus and we fired up the BBQ the first night we were there. Communication with Jim was easy and prompt. We traveled to the village to meet with friends for the annual tree lighting ceremony that they hold the day after Thanksgiving. It was fantastic. Needless to say, my family and I booked the cabin for our 2016 Thanksgiving trip! Big thanks to Jim for our new family tradition.

Owner's reply: HI AMBER, I'M GLAD YOU GUYS ENJOYED YOUR TIME AT OUR CABIN. WE JUST OPENED A ANOTHER ONE THAT IS JUST AS NICE. CHECK IT OUT WHEN YOU GET A MINUTE. LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT VISIT. THANKS, JIM

“Great place for a large group”

Reviewed 4 Mar 2016

This is one of the best deals in Big Bear. The cabin has 3 full bedrooms and a huge loft. It is about 15 minute drive to Snow Summit and 10 to Bear Mountain. There were 3 full bathrooms. One bedroom is downstairs for those who don't like stairs. This is a great place for a large group of people. The cabin was very spacious. The loft was huge and had a table and TV, so one group could hang out in the living room downstairs and another group upstairs. The WiFi was excellent. There is a built in heater and also a fire place, so we were very warm. Consider bringing your own pots and pans if you want to cook. We also brought dish soap, a sponge, hand soap, towels, pillows, shampoo, toilet paper, paper plates and cups, and paper towels. The owner was very responsive to emails and texts.

Owner's reply: WE ARE GLAD YOU ENJOYED YOUR STAY. WE JUST BOUGHT NEW POTS AND PANS AS PER YOUR REQUEST. JUST A NOTE THAT WE DO SUPPLY TOILET PAPER, TOWELS AND PILLOWS, PLATES AND CUPS. JUST SO OUR FUTURE GUESTS WILL KNOW. YOU ARE WELCOME BACK ANYTIME!

We had a wonderful stay. Jim was very helpful. I did was a little scared about this whole thing being a scam, but Jim was always fast to reply to all of our questions and made the process very easy. Thanks again for having us! We love your cabin and for sure wI'll be a yearly renter for now on.

Owner's reply: HI CAROLINE, I'M GLAD I COULD HELP AND YOU HAD A GOOD TIME. YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME BACK! THANKS, JIM

“Huge house in beautiful location”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2015

Stayed here with 4 adults and 2 kids over Halloween/Oktoberfest and enjoyed amazing Big Bear Lake area. The house is huge, plenty of sleeping and playing space, area is very quiet, so kids can play outside on unpaved road. Would have loved to stay longer. Not 5-stars as the carpets could use some TLC but I guess that's hard to avoid with a lot of guests. Halloween - don't bother trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, the few people who were home were totally surprised and noone but one lady had candy. Go downtown to 'the village', there will be hundreds of people in costumes and stores giving out candy, a blast! Oktoberfest - a little bold asking access fees as prices are not exactly cheap either but overall a nice idea. Probably most fun in the evening when you are not the driver....

Owner's reply: I THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE REVIEW. WE HAVE REPLACED THE CARPET IN QUESTION. IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE WE COULD DO TO MAKE THIS PROPERTY EVEN BETTER JUST LET ME KNOW. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANLINESS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.

I been renting this property for the last 3 years. The owner is really nice and we have a good relationship. I personal spoke with him before and I send him many referrals to his property. I was there recently and I have friends and family who flew from Massachusetts to spend a 4 days weekend with us on his property. I always book my next vacation, during my vacation... So I will be there again next year, around the same time! I always looking forward to this vacation!

My group stood here this past weekend. What a great location! We were able to hike and kayak at Big Bear lake just a short drive away. This cabin was spacious and Jim (the owner) was easy to communicate with and always answered my inquiries speedily. I would definitely book here again:) Thanks Jim!

Owner's reply: I'M GLAD YOU GUYS HAD FUN AND WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU BACK ANYTIME! IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE THE PLACE EVEN BETTER I WOULD LOVE SUGGESTIONS. THANKS, JIM

“First snowboarding experience with family”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2015

My family and myself really enjoyed our stay in Big Bear. The weather was really starting to warm up which made snowboarding conditions a little difficult, but my kids enjoyed the experience and beautiful home we stayed in. Hopefully next year we can go right after a good snowfall to really experience some good conditions. The home was located very close to the skiing resorts and other basic necessities, which made things very convenient for us city folks. Thanks for an awesome time and a special spring break for my Stanford boys! Go Cardinals!!

Owner's reply: I GOTTA SAY THE BEST SNOW SKI MONTH IS FEBRUARY. I'M GLAD YOU GUYS MADE SOME GOOD MEMORIES AND WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU BACK AGAIN. THANKS, JIM
