“As advertised: Relaxing, Equipped and Gorgeous!”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2015

Our family of two parents and two grown children had a very relaxing week at Frank & Bonnie's Camp. You can be confident that the photos and description on this site accurately reflect the property and location. The property was more private than we expected, with neighbors on one side not present and neighbors on the other side well-shielded. Kayak and Canoe were put to good use - the lake is so peaceful in the morning. Katahdin is a great (full) day hike if you want to be challenged. If you want to relax, the camp's private dock is a great place to spend a day reading a book or taking a nap. Hummingbirds, chipmunks and birds will keep you entertained on the front porch. Great balance of sunshine and shade on warm days (if you are lucky to pick those warm weeks in Northern Maine). And we finally had our first 'up-close' encounter with a Moose (on the road leading to the camp) after many summers in Maine. If you can't allow yourself to cut the cord to civilization, phone service is spotty, but the camp's wifi worked great (and you can always unplug the router if you want an excuse!). It took some persistence to confirm arrangements, but everything worked out as promised. Pleasant Pond is a great destination and this property is one of the best locations on the lake for peace, beauty and relaxation. I am happy to recommend the camp and will be glad to stay again someday. Thank you Bonnie and Frank!

Owner's reply: Dave: Thanks for a great review and a reflection of how we feel about the camp - it's our place to getaway from the busy world around us and to be closer to nature and it's surrounding. We hope you and your family can make it up here again - no matter where you stay - but we hope it's with us. Next year we plan on bringing up our tandem kayak for folks to also use. Our best to you and your family. Frank/Bonnie

“Excellent Vacation!”

We usually go camping but since we are expecting a baby, we thought we'd have to have a real roof over our heads this time. The lake is very clean and gets very warm so it's a pleasure to swim in it. The property was well taken care of and everything was ready for us. If you want to get away from city noise and pollution, you can't go wrong with this place.

Owner's reply: Thanks Julia for a great review - hope to see you again and all the best with the new baby!! Frank/Bonnie

FROM: TF of Boston: Stayed: August 2014 Rustic Tranquility
Frank and Bonnie's Lake Pleasant home is a rustic haven with all the modern amenities needed to make for a relaxing vacation in a secluded spot deep in the woods of Maine. The large kitchen, comfortable living area, and deck with birds-eye view of the water all combine to provide a sense of tranquillity and being away from it all.

Prepare to be charmed by a long drive down a winding unpaved road with breathtaking views only to be matched by the beauty that you'll find at the end of the road where Frank and Bonnie's cabin awaits. Be sure to bring all your food and supplies with you upon arrival as you will not want to leave this little oasis. If you're looking for the company of humming birds, chipmunks, loons, woodchucks, and the like, this is the spot for you.

With a spring-fed crystal-clear lake at the foot of the property and a kayak and canoe to explore, campfires by the water, and great views of Birch Point's weekend fireworks, the unique experience of enjoying this home cannot be compared. Trekking up and down the 60+ stairs between the lake and the house is a terrific workout and you'll end your vacation with stronger legs then ever.

Frank and Bonnie have thought of everything to make visitors feel at home while their agent, Alison, is terrific at managing the property. Thanks so much for allowing us to rent your beautiful home!

From: Monica C.: Stayed: August 2014: Beautiful!
I stayed there with my family, with two kids, age 2 and 5. The cottage is beautiful. Well decorated, well appointment, and very clean. The road to get there was a bit tricky, good thing we had a four wheel drive. The place is well secluded. It was nice that we had internet and good TV. Felt like I was in this very secluded place with all the amenities of hotel. The walk to water is little long, as you can see in the picture. Water was clear. And the ramp was fun to jump off from. THere is also tons of movies that you can watch. Not too many for little kids. Also the rail off the loft is a little low for my two year old, but older kids it should be fine.

We had a great week at Pleasant Pond. The cabin was just as described and very well stocked. It had a wonderful fireplace, games, etc, and was very clean and spacious. We spent a lot of time on the deck in the adirondack chairs, just watching the clouds go by! Pleasant Pond is beautiful. The water is crystal clear and we saw a bald eagle on one of the islands and some sort of mink along the shoreline heading home with her dinner. We took the kayak or the canoe out everyday. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

REVIEW FROM ANOTHER SITE^POSTED AUG. 2015 Our week on the lake was everything we wanted and more. The cabin was absolutely perfect and had everything we needed. We used the kayak and canoe daily for trips around the lake with our six year old son, and saw several Loons and Eagles on our adventures. Most evenings, I kayaked to the middle of the lake to watch the sunset and each time was breathtaking. We spent most evenings down near the fire and were lucky to have three nights with so many shooting stars, we lost count. Just the other day, my son said 'lets close our eyes and pretend we are out watching the sky on the lake again'. We did have one rainy day, but with all the movies and games available in the cabin, we definitely were not bored. We also played a round of golf at the local golf club and drove over to Baxter State Park on our last full day to hike a trail recommended in one of the trail books on the book shelf. It did not disappoint. Overall, the cabin was the perfect location for reconnecting as a family away from all the normal daily distractions. Thank you very much for opening your home to us!
