Description of the Isle of Palms vacation home rental
Location: Isle of Palms, Charleston, South Carolina, USA (downtown Charleston 20 minutes; CHS International Airport 30 miles)

Accommodations: 4000 square foot house, 6 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, two living areas (sleeps 16), ocean view from front porch and main living area, across the street from the beach and beach access. Private, heatable pool. No booking fees.

The Palmetto Beach House vacation rental on Isle of Palms is the perfect house for your beach getaway! Here is what a past guest wrote about us: "This is the second summer that our extended family (us, our 3 kids and their spouses and 7 grandchildren aged 2-11) enjoyed the Palmetto Beach House for a week. We could not be happier and are on the Klopp?s calendar to return again next summer. The house easily housed the four adult couples with each having their own room and attached bath. The kids were in the bunk room and the twin room and shared the Jack-and-Jill bath. The little one was happy in a pack and play in the HUGE Master closet. All the beds were very comfortable. There is a wonderful wagon for hauling all the gear to the beach, an easy walk across Palm Boulevard, and chairs and beach towels are provided. Even with the proximity of the beach, all of us enjoyed the pool and its SHADED porch after a day in the sun. The amazing Adirondack rockers and chairs out there meant supervising the kids was easy. The same chairs grace the front porch, a great setting for sunset (and popsicles). With lots of hungry mouths to feed we found the kitchen just about perfect. Lots and lots of dishes, pots and pans and utensils and a wide aisle that allowed for many simultaneous cooks. Having two refrigerators was a huge help, as was having an icemaker and beverage fridge on the first (pool) level. The house managers, Stuart and his wife Lisa, were very friendly and helpful, answering our questions and responding very quickly. The place was immaculate when we arrived. We are already looking forward to next summer!"

There is plenty of room for everyone and plenty of things to do in this tastefully decorated, reverse floor plan house. Directly across the street from the beautiful Isle of Palms beach. Sit on one of the front porches and enjoy the ocean view. Take a swim in the full size heated* pool. Cook in the gourmet, fully equipped kitchen or grill out on the deck. Play a game or watch TV in the game room directly off the pool. Enjoy a good book or a movie in the great room off the kitchen. This house is approximately 4000 square foot, has 6 bedrooms, two living areas, hardwood floors, fireplace, an elevator and a large private heated* pool. There is 800 additional square feet of outdoor decks with an ocean view from the front porches.

Lower level: There is a Jack and Jill bath with two attached bedrooms one containing two twin extra long beds and the other with two sets of bunk beds with extra long mattresses. Next, is a large King suite with direct pool access and a private bath room. In the front of the house is a bedroom with a queen bed and a full private bath. The game room is equipped with a flat screen TV, blue ray player, Wii, wet bar, mini frig, ice machine and plenty of games and DVD's. There is also a laundry room. The pool is on this level and a half bath is located just off the pool. The outdoor shower is perfect for washing off sand after a day at the beach!

Upper level: Climb the stairs or take the elevator to the second floor where you will find a large, open kitchen with stainless appliances, including two refrigerators, and granite countertops. The adjoining living room has a fireplace and flat screen TV with large French doors allowing an ocean view and comfortable seating. A dining area with a large expandable table provides seating for 16 people. This level has a large master bedroom with a fireplace and a small sitting area. There is also a trundle bed with two full twin mattresses in this room. A third king master is located on this level with an ocean view and an attached bathroom. All linens are provided. We even provide beach towels!

This house is privately owned and managed. We use the house ourselves and therefore take great care to keep it in good condition and well appointed. We hope you enjoy your time in our home and that you will tell your friends and family about us.

*additional fees apply for pool heating and for pets

Area Information
The Isle of Palms is an Atlantic barrier island with approximately 5000 full time residents. The entire 7-mile long and 1-mile wide island is an incorporated municipality. It has a 5-acre full service marina as well as a county park in the center of the island. The park has lifeguards, dressing rooms and showers. There are a variety of restaurants and small shops in the "downtown" area as well as many restaurants on nearby Sullivan's Island

The beach is wide and very well kept. No alcohol is allowed on the beach and the wide shallow beach area creates perfect tide pools for young children after high tide.

Shopping is abundant just over the Isle of Palms Connector Bridge in Mount Pleasant or in the downtown Charleston area.

The island has three churches: Lutheran, First United Methodist and Baptist.

The Isle of Palms was originally named Hunting Island and was inhabited by the indigenous Seewee Indians.

During the Civil War, the H.L.Hunley departed from Breach Inlet. The Hunley was the first submarine to sink an enemy vessel.

In the late 19th century, the island began being used by local residents as a refuge from the summer heat. It was purchased by J.S.Lawrence in 1899 and named Isle of Palms. A 50 room hotel was built in 1906 and a beach pavilion with an amusement park in 1912. Access to the island was limited to a ferry and trolley rail until the Grace Memorial Bridge was built in 1929.

J.C.Long Purchased the island in 1946. He provided low-cost housing for veterans retuning from WWII. Development as a residential community proceeded slowly until the 1970?s when the real estate market blossomed.

The six miles of white, sandy beaches provides plenty of space for residents and visitors today.

This home has everything you could want! We had 8 adults and 7 grandkids and the 6 bedrooms have everyone their space! The Kitchen was huge and had everything you needed to cook meals. The kids loved the pool and the adults loved the front deck where there was always a breeze. Close to the beach and a short drive to Charleston. This home is beautiful and was spotless! I hope to return someday. The only negative was the drive home - we didn't want to leave.

Owner's reply:

We are so glad that you enjoyed your time at the Palmetto Beach House. Having a large kitchen is really important when hosting a large group. I must say that front porch is my favorite place as well. Hope you will visit us again some day!

Best Beach House for a large Family or Group

June 27, 2016

Three generations of our family have shared this beach house for a week for the last three summers. The grandkids call it Nana's Beach House--I only wish it could be! We love many things about this place: it is located right across the street from the beautiful beach, the kids have their own space (both bedrooms and "media/family room), each of the adult bedrooms has it's own bath, the pool is a perfect size and SHADED in the afternoon when you are ready to be out of the sun after a day at the beach, the ground floor has boogie boards, beach chairs, sand toys and a big wagon to get it all to the beach, there is parking for up to four cars under the house, out of the sun. The list goes on and on. The kitchen is amazing. Everyone in our family cooks (even the older kids) and we can all be there at once. Everything you would want to cook is supplied. The two refrigerators (and drink cooler and ice machine downstairs) makes feeding the 15 of us very easy. The Weber grill on the pool deck works perfectly. Harris Teeter grocery store is a short walk away for those items you missed on your first big shop. Kathy is very responsive and easy to work with (I would love to meet her one day...) and the local managers, Stuart and Lisa are only a phone call away if you need help or just a question answered. Do not miss sitting on the front porch in the wonderful chairs with your coffee in the morning, adult beverage in the evening and popsicles after dinner and enjoy watching the ocean. The Klopps have made this house very comfortable. We never want to go home!

Great House for our Large Family

Date of Stay
June 27, 2015

We have vacationed on IOP for 19yrs and have never had a vacation Rental as inviting as this home. Kathy is wonderful to work with and she has thought of everything to make our vacation week perfect. As we've watched our family grow over the years, it had become impossible to enjoy meals together, but that changed this year as all of us gathered around the huge table for meals, and after meals continued sitting and relaxing with lots of stories and laughs. The wide beach is great for all ages (1yr to 73yrs) and the direct walk there makes it easy for all. The wagon became our best friend hauling chairs, coolers, and toys all week. Back home to the pool where we relaxed or played in sun or shade. Perfect..the beach chairs and beach towels are a real asset as we had people who flew in for the week and they did not have to pack or purchase towels...that was a first for us. My favorite was front porch with my book and cup of coffee and the early morning breeze. It is the cleanest property we've ever rented and we highly recommend it. We are on Kathy's calendar for 2016 and already excited!!

Incredible Family Vacation

Date of Stay
July 25, 2015

The first words that came out of our mouths as we pulled in the driveway was "Incredible." And it did not disappoint. The house was perfect for a extended family vacation (5 adults and 7 kids). The rooms were perfect to accommodate all of us without feeling like we were on top of each other. Adults took over the kitchen and family room/porch while the kids ruled the game room. Bedrooms were sized just right. Between the easy access to the beach and the pool - the kids were well entertained. We enjoyed the quick drive over to Charleston for some sightseeing. The carriage tour of Charleston by Classic Carriage Works was a lot of fun as well as the walk through the market and tour of Fort Sumter. Since the whole clan was there, we decided to set up a family picture and Ava Moore photography did not disappoint. The highlight of the trip for us all was the inshore fishing trip by Barrier Island Eco Tours. The fishing and our guide was awesome. Overall, we had a great time in Isle of Palm. It was a nice balance of history (Charleston), relaxing (house and beach) and adventure (fishing). We certainly wouldn't hesitate to come back. Thank you to the owners and house manager for a lovely vacation.

Family Vacation

Date of Stay

8 Adults in our family spent most of a week there. The house was well maintained and very organized. How to operate various appliances were labeled and easy to navigate. The home is just across the street from the beach and the access to the beach. There are beach chairs, toys and towels for your use. Perfect for a large group as there is plenty of room to hang out. Kathy the owner was very helpful in assuring us of the condition of the area after the torrential rains they had the week or two before. Pretty much all you need is at the house. Enjoy! we did.

I love the Palmetto Beach House

Date of Stay
September 28, 2015

My group has stayed at the Palmetto Beach House multiple times (4 to be exact). We have always found the home to be very well supplied with everything we've needed right down to the spices in the kitchen. We love the care and thought that the owners obviously take to make their guests feel right at home. The new benches on the front porch are perfect to sit on to take off our sandy shoes before entering and the chairs on the upper balcony are wonderful to sit in to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean (if I make it up that early.). There are plenty of TV channels, family oriented DVDs and games if the weather is bad and lots of things to do in nearby Charleston if the weather is good. We have never had a major problem while we have stayed at the Palmetto Beach House but the one issue we had was handled quickly and professionally. All in all, the Palmetto Beach House is more than a house, it is a home away from home for my group. I would recommend the home highly!
