Whether you want to experience life in a local neighborhood, enjoy interesting architecture and design, have a lot of kids in your group, are looking for a house in which you can entertain, or like the idea of sitting on a sofa in front of a wood-burning fireplace surrounded by a beautifully-curated art collection and maybe watching a moose walk through the backyard, Tadasana is for you.

Designed by the boutique Jackson-based architecture studio BDS Design, this 6-bedroom home is hidden in a neighborhood in West Jackson and is within easy driving (or biking; one of the valley’s excellent bike/pedestrian pathways is within one-quarter-mile) distance of grocery stores, downtown Jackson, and the Snow King hiking and biking trail network. Grand Teton National Park, Teton Village, and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are about a 20-minute drive.

From the moment you pull into Tadasana’s driveway, it’s obvious that thought and care has been put into its form and design. The exterior materials palette includes natural stone, steel, concrete, and wood. But, aside from the architectural stepped sidewalk leading to the front door, the entrance is unassuming. But once inside, a great room with soaring, tongue-and-groove cathedral ceilings, exposed steel beams—and a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows facing the backyard greet you. Calling it breathtaking is not exaggerating.

The combined kitchen/dining/living area is the heart of the home. Here is a professional-grade kitchen, a custom blackened steel, wood-burning fireplace, a dining table that seats 10 and an oversize kitchen island with bar seats for 6, contemporary art, a wonderful mix of textures (natural stone tiled walls, slatted bamboo, warm wood, steel, ceramic tile), a powder room, a walk-in pantry, lighting fixtures that are as much art as they are lights, colorful textiles, and a sliding door that opens to an expansive south-facing deck. The master suite is tucked into its own wing at the opposite end of this space from the kitchen.

The master suite is airy and light-filled and is the only bedroom to have its own access to the backyard deck. Its bathroom has two vanities, an oversize deep soaking tub, and a walk-in shower. There is an oversize walk-in closet and a gas-burning fireplace. The bed in this room is a king.

The rest of the home’s 5 bedrooms are upstairs. Three of these bedrooms are bunkroom suites. Each of these has one twin bunk and one full bunk and a bathroom with a combined tub/shower. The other two bedrooms are part of an attached apartment that can be closed off from the rest of the house. In addition to a bedroom suite with a king size bed and a guest room with a queen size bed and a bathroom with a shower/tub just outside its door, this apartment has a full kitchen and living/dining area. The second floor also has a large common area that overlooks the great room.

And then there’s a basement, aka the ultimate game room. Here the floors are concrete and there is a small home gym, a pool table, home theater, foosball, and air hockey. If it weren’t for the mountains you can see out of this home’s windows, you might not leave it to explore the valley!
