This was a good house for a family gathering with space for everyone to do their own thing, be it reading, swimming (love the pool), visiting, or lurking about the kitchen in search of food. It is a good location for walking about Jacksonville. Wish we had more time to take advantage of the outdoor kitchen in the pool area.
“Country home living magazine dream home!”
This home was like so other that I have ever stayed in. You can tell the owners live in the home when not being rented out. It is beautiful, the antiques and collectibles are amazing !! Beyond the eye candy there is everything you could ever want or need. When we arrived there was a lovely local bottle of wine and fresh muffins welcoming us! Such a nice touch. The pool and outdoor kitchen are above and beyond. We spent most of our time outside near the pool. There is a BBQ, a smoker/oven, a griddle, fridge, ice maker, bar and TV. A beautiful set up. This is a wonderful place to stay. Jeff and Julie are wonderful hosts. We would love to come back !
“Great family weekend!”
We had a great family weekend at the Melissa Taylor cottage! Cozy spot with walking distance to main street, including everything we needed for cooking meals and relaxing together as a family. I would highly recommend this property!
Owner's reply: So happy your family had a great stay! See you next time😄 Jeff & Julie
“Quaint, Victorian old house, great restaurants”
3 couples and good friends for many years - we've decided to visit Oregon for 3 weeks. We've stayed at Julie and Jeff's great home for one week. We cooked and drank amazing Oregon wines OR walked to various phenomenal restaurants, visited wineries, creameries or walked several trails in the area. The home is cozy, warm and inviting - the Victorian, cute and quaint home takes you back in time. Great getaway. This is a place we want to return.
“Great for family get-togethers”
We stayed at this quaint house on the occasion of our daughter's wedding. The decor, and the whole structure, sets you back many decades - the perfect setting for a family get-together. Everything was there in the kitchen to cook meals for the eight people staying at the house and the adjacent cottage, plus a few guests who came just for family meals and champagne. The beds are comfortable, the pool is refreshing, and we spent hours gazing at the stars at night. We couldn't imagine a better place to stay before and after the wedding.
Owner's reply: Thanks Walter, we really enjoyed you and you friends and family as well. Would love to have you back anytime... Jeff and Julie
“Lovely Christmas stay”
We were so lucky to find this gem of a home to stay at for our Christmas visit with my Mom. When we walked in the front door my daughter, very dramatically said, oh my gosh Mom it's just like the movie The Holiday! Very cozy, super cute rustic cottage feel. 5 of us stayed there, but we did have my family over for dinner one of the nights and did present swaps and there was plenty of room. SUPER cute cottage in the back, with pool, BBQ, area. Everything within walking distance. Honestly the only thing I would have liked is more cabinet space to put our food we brought for our stay. Otherwise everything you need for a home away from home feel is all right there.
Owner's reply: Thank you and very glad you had a great Christmas stay in Jacksonville Jeff and julie
“Comfort in an historic home”
We had a delightful stay in the Melissa C Taylor house. (Note: The house is 3 bedroom, the separate "cottage" is a studio accommodation.) The house is a nicely restored late 1800's house with air conditioning and other modern amenities added. On a warm southern Oregon evening we greatly enjoyed relaxing at the private pool. As the owners occupy the house in the winter, it's better equipped than many homes. I almost felt I should cook to utilize the kitchen (but being on vacation resisted the notion). The house is extensively decorated and very comfortable. It was nice to return from the Britt Festival and wrap ourselves in comfortable surroundings. I do hope to return to the house if another trip to southern Oregon is in our future. Jeff and Julie have created one of our favorite places to call home on vacation.
“Great fun with family in Jacksonville, Oregon”
What a lovely home, large enough for whole family, Very clean felt like home. walked to down town, coffee place was great, across from park, perfect pool, close to Medford for those who wanted to shop, loved Jacksonville shopping. Owners were great. Detached studio was perfect.
“Amazing accommodations! We will stay again.”
We absolutely loved our stay at the Melissa C Taylor house. We had a total of 5 adults and 5 kids and we all fit perfectly. The home had Everything we could have needed and the sweet owners Jeff & Juli even had fresh local bakery bread and a bottle of wine waiting for us. The pool was well used by our group and we also loved the spray park across the street. This truly felt like a home away from home. By far the best vacation stay we have ever had. The area (Jacksonville) was beautiful and in close proximity to everything you could need. This is the perfect getaway home if all you desire a place that has everything you need. The beds, linens, kitchen items and decor were absolutely perfect!
Owner's reply: Loved having you guys !! Thanks
We loved the town of Jacksonville, the friendliness of the residents, the Britt Festival and their staff, and especially the hospitality and cottage and home of the Alvis family! We will be back. ;)
