“Peaceful and Private”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2016

Jon was very easy to work with. He responded quickly to emails or texts when I had questions. The house was located at the back of a small working farm. However, it was very private and peaceful. We only saw the people who lived on the farm twice during the week. There were cows and horses that were pastured close to the house, but not in any way that was intrusive. In fact, it was fun to watch them throughout the day. The house had two bedrooms on the main floor with a bathroom, kitchen, and living area. What was missing was a kitchen table; however, the weather was so nice we spent almost all day on the expansive deck or at the dock. We did not use the lower level much, but there were two additional bedrooms, bathroom, living area, laundry room and game table available there. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with what you needed to cook, and the TV worked well. I did miss having access to the Internet, but it was probably good for me to be unplugged for awhile. The house is located about 25 minutes from Jonesborough (where the storytelling festival was held) and 15 minutes to Johnson City, so everything you needed was close but didn't interfere with the feeling of being away from it all. The only disappointment was the river, which runs right by the house, was very low due to dam work upstream. So, while there was an incredible dock to fish from there were no fish to be found. A couple of things to be aware of . . . 1) the GPS does not necessarily take you to the house (my sister ended up on the other side of the river), so make sure you talk with Jon, as he requests, about directions and 2) this is the only part of the country I have seen where they sell "real gas." I guess for about thirty to forty cents more a gallon, you can get gas without ethanol. My sister wasn't paying attention and paid a lot more to fill up her tank than she expected. All in all, it was a good trip. Once the dam is fixed and the water level returns, we may venture back to attend another storytelling festival.

“Beautiful Tennessee Cabin”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2016

Our family stayed here for a wedding, and the photos do not do this property justice. The cabin is charming, clean, well stocked, and very family friendly. The property is right on the river and was such a pleasure to wake up and fish, kayak, and swim, surrounded by mountains, tress and a farm. While we were there, a storm came in and knocked out the power for a couple days. The owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and supplied a generator and helped us in every way he could. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, idyllic vacation.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Here are some reviews for our property while listed on another service:
"The property is beautiful and spacious. It's perfect for family gatherings. The owners made us feel so at home and were readily available if we had any questions. We loved the openness and privacy of the property. The farm atmosphere is fun for both the kids and adults. We'll definitely do our best to make this an annual vacation spot."

"Beautiful home in a peaceful, quiet, country setting. Short driving distance to anything you may want/need. All the comforts of home with none of the stress!!! Kids enjoyed playing on the river bank (short walk across the yard & you're there) and spending the day on the beach at local lakes. Older adults enjoyed antique shopping in nearby Elizabethton & Johnson City. Evenings spent relaxing by fire pit & enjoying s'mores. We all agreed, even before our week was over, that we want to come back here next year."

"Having vacation rental properties myself, I am hard to impress. but this place certainly did. The pictures are way off. It is AWESOME. The house is very clean and charming with all the reclaimed wood and unusual features. I could sit and look out the window at the beautiful farm land, cattle, horses and river, all day. I went there to have a peacful healing holiday and it did the trick. I returned to my everyday life refreshed and ready to work. The owners were great to work with and provided everything we needed. It is a remote property but with a security gate and system it is very comfortable. Try it and you won't want to leave. Our 10 year old grandson wanted to trade our house for the farm!! Thanks guys and many blessings.
