Our stay was wonderful. The home is beautiful and the vews from the house of the Atlantic were just heaven. The house is unquestionablity the best I've ever vacation in. Bath and bedrooms were just right for us. The living room was very comfortable and the views couldn't get any better. You could see the lobester fishermen catching lobster almost every day. The night sky with all the lights out was amazing. We saw a shooting star the first night. The weather was great even on the two days it was hot and humid. Alwys seemed to be a sea breeze blowing that kept us comfortable. The evenings were cool and sleeping was never a problem. The ocean water is cold so be prepared. I found walking on the clean and sandy beach a joy. It's a bit of a trick to get past the rocks to the beach but not much of an effort because it's a short distance. I found many pieces of Sea Glass while walking the beach almost everyday. We did the Puffin boat tour, Milbridge, the Schooner, Margret Todd trip, Bar Habor and shopped in Bar Haboras as well. We drove up and down the coast visiting islands and shopping. Ashten and her family were great host and we wanted for nothing. They were a wealth of local informationand and made us feel at home. I would recomend this vacation home to anyone who loves the ocean coast, sandy beaches, great down east food, shopping and island hopping along the coast.

This is a great little place. The pictures don't do it justice. We were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and nice this was. Wish we had WiFi access, but otherwise perfect! Just a little over an hour to Acadia National Park, or 45 minutes to Schoodic Point. Flew in to Bangor and the short drive (2 hrs) was a great way to see where all the shopping and dining was along the way. Would love to come back.

Beach House in Jonesport

The house is in a great location right on the beach. It has an unbelievable view from the living and dining rooms of the sandy beach, ocean, islands, and birds. Being only about a 30 foot walk from the deck to the sand, you can hear the surf from inside. The house is fully equipped to cover all basic living needs. Located about half way between Ellsworth and Lubec, we found it convenient to make day trips to Acadia National Park - including Bar Harbor and Schoodic Point, Roosevelt Campobello Park on Campobello Island, New Brunswick & Quoddy Head State Park with a great lighthouse and hiking trails. About a 20 minute ride is Machias with a good selection of restaurants. Also about a 20 minute ride is Roque Bluffs State Park with both fresh and salt water swimming. Although we did not explore them, the Jonesport area has islands you can drive out to as well as boat excursions - such as a "Puffin Trip" where you can land on an island and get very close to the birds. We found the cottage cozy and romantic but it would be wonderful for a family with children. The beach is very private so it felt more like a scenic "get-a-way" than a crowded "tourist spot". We would certainly consider staying there again.
